Recapping Wilder v. Breazeale ('Jrock' Williams & Inoue Fights) + Upcoming Joshua & Ruiz Fight
THE FIGHT with Teddy Atlas | Episode 12

Also available wherever else you get your podcasts.
MORE DETAIL ON THE SHOW
Teddy Atlas and co-host Ken Rideout kick off with a discussion on the Julian 'Jrock' Williams vs. Jarrett Hurd fight (:33). This one took place on May 11. Jrock went into Hurd's backyard in Fairfax, VA and took the WBA, IBF, and IBO 154-pound titles in a PBC main event on FOX.
Teddy and Ken interviewed Jrock on the Monday following the fight -- that will post on Mon., May 27.
Extensive breakdown on the recent Deontay Wilder vs. Dominic Breazeale fight (16:24). Also cover off on what's likely to be next for Wilder -- the potential of a Luis Ortiz fight along with a prediction from Teddy on who might also be next for Wilder (36:50).
Revisit the upcoming Anthony Joshua vs. Andy Ruiz fight, highlighting that this is probably a better matchup than the previously planned Jarrell Miller fight (44:28).
Look at the Naoya Inoue vs Emmanuel Rodriguez the Bantamweight Title fight that took place May 18 in Glasgow (53:07).
Before wrapping up, Teddy gives an analysis of Deontay Wilder's style and how he sets up his knockout punch much like past greats (1:02:10).

That nonsense at the end though is like uhh really? Every other weight division does that with every fuckin punch. But hey, gotta make sure you keep that ESPN job by begging for heavyweights to actually not be complete trash

THE undisputed boxing podcast. Can't get enough of these, if you guys did two episodes per week that were 2 hours long I would still catch every one.
Teddy Atlas you are a legend. Thank you for this show 👊
YES! I've been looking forward to this recap!
Listening from Cape Town, South Africa 🇿🇦 Love the content guys ! Thank you for all the knowledge! Keep it coming 🥊
I like the angle Teddy took when describing why Andy Ruiz jr will be a better fight than the Miller fight. I have thought it would be since announcement but I didnt see it the way Atlas broke it down and it makes sense for sure.
"No excuses..... ONLY REASONS!"😮 Teddy is the man....
I look forward to these! Y'all are great! Thanks!
Alright, thanks amigos!!! Can't wait to hear jroc interview in near future. Thanks for yalls time...
Brilliant teddy and ken, you guys are getting better by each podcast.

Would be perfect if Teddy didn’t rely on a network to get paid. Then we could actually get some real truth outta this. Till then we gotta hear whatever set of opinions espn chooses to allow teddy to have. Now we gotta hear nonsense about some blinding jab that every fighter in every division uses with both hands, elbows and shoulders & make believe like it’s some kind of special move made up by one handed heavyweights
Love this podcast ! Never stop!
Another great episode guys. Keep up the good work.
Teddy gonna be balling after this everyone been waiting on this dudes podcast 😂😂🙏
I really like this podcast it's very organized , very good topics and the timestamps in the description box are the best Thank u lord for answering my prayers
Wilder has also shortened his right hand punches, which makes him faster and more dangerous
@superawesomejeff

That right hand that put down Brazeale was a thing of beauty. It reminded me of Joe Louis the way Deontay snuck the left in between Dominic's guard and pulled his lead hand down to clear the path for the right. Crafty and awkward. Edit: I went back and watched the fight a few more times and it actually looks like Dominic was trying to counter Wilder's jab with a lead uppercut (or an up jab), but Wilder's lead hand boxed out Brezeale's lead hand and kept the path clear. Like Teddy said, if he moved his head better, this fight would have gone at least a few more rounds.

Teddy knows wilder is trash. Can’t downplay the Fury fight on the horizon though. Don’t fall for that bullshit at the end, every other division does that natural reaction basic common sense blinder with every punch they throw. You can blow these trash heavyweights all you want, ain’t gonna change shit into gold

Wilder is short in alot of areas and he's heavily flawed but he does have that one great equalizer in the right hand, gotta give him that man
Been waiting on this dropping! Love it. Thanks Ken & Teddy

The commentators were shocked by what they were seeing with J Rock. Sometimes they come into fights ready to tell what they expect instead of what they see, hence the "oh" when they are shocked that the narrative has changed.
Keep it up guys. I Love THIS SHOW:)
Great work, very insightful
This is how boxing podcasts should be, thank you!! The timestamps are brilliant, great thanks.
Thank you for the belated Williams-Hurd coverage & detailed expert analysis on the upset. These commentary teams NEED Teddy! PBC ON FOX & DAZN should be ashamed of some these commentators. Teddy has me hyped about fights I already saw, shoutout to my new favorite podcast.
keep making these please
Loved the episode Teddy... THANK YOU!!
Teddy is oddly motivational. Describing Williams’s past being turned into power to have his hand raised in victory. Whoa, powerful

He's one of the best talkers in the sport... Love listening to the man.
and I 100% agree to the fact that there are too many announcers today who overreact and/or over exaggerate moments that are expected to happen during an event. I also feel that it's becoming more common for announcers to show bias towards certain fighters while calling their fights, this needs to stop as well.
@mrmegabuckssongs

Always been that bias unfortunately. Which is why I htr watching Sky and BT

I can listen Tedy for a week and not be bored. This guy has wisdom.
Am I the only one who wants to have a beer or two with Teddy.............and just listen.............boxing fan bliss.
This is the best boxing channel on KZread. I can listen to Teddy Atlas for hours talking about boxing. Also his stories about the historical fightees like Sam Langford and Willie Pep, Benny Leonard. I would live to hear a podcast of a Jack Dempsey one he was such a great fighter he's really forgotten by most boxing fans today. I remember my father teaching me about Dempsey when I was about 6 when he bought my little brother and I each a Jack Dempsey fish in a fish tank in our bedroom. Back in 1980 he was still alive and my father said kids that man hit so hard he could bring buildings down.
Great insight from Teddy once again
I love Teddy atlas man. This is a great channel. Great job , I love this .

Fantastic, finally a podcast which actually know Boxing. thanks guys
Love Teddy's breakdown on Wilder/Breazeale, I had the same exact reaction. I was wondering why wasn't Breazeale's left hand up, Wilder told him exactly what he's gonna do, once he touched him with the left. It looked like Breazeale came to the fight, just to get KO'd it was way to easy for Wilder! Great show guys, it just gets better and better!!!
Williams vs Hurd was incredible
I like teddy's historic view on things. He has a lot of knowledge of boxing going back to 1900s
I just added Teddys Podcast to my my PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT STUDY. HIS STORIES ARE NOT JUST ABOUT BOXING, ITS ABOUT LIFE!!
Best boxing podcast out there.
Love you teddy i promise i got this far in life listening to you and you said couple podcasts ago about people being under pressure mentally im like Holyfield not Tyson. You help me realize not everyone has that in them to perform big under pressure....
Great pod, love the bold teddy boxing knowledge is unrivalled. Teddy what do you think of the tartan tornado Josh Taylor he topped the bill in Glasgow. He is in the super series finale vrs a American lad , progress I think his name is

@Damian he knows what he's doing.. Point in case... 1/2 the comments are about teddy doing it and the other half about the LOUDNESS/abuptness of it. He did it for dramatic effect and /or to highlight the over exaggerating of the said commentators.
Great channel guys love from Ireland
That Fear and fire analogy deep like Heidegger
Teddy postcast is fire. Cheers mate. Breazeale arrived timid and was fighting off the back foot, all you had to do was tag him and pressure him for a finish. Great performance from Wilder.

@hagler10033 yes back foot, the only time he threw anything with any heat was on the ropes leaning on his BACK FOOT... spar enough and you know he didn't want to be there that night based just on his body language in the first 10secs.

Loving this podcast! At the end when they were breaking down the old school fighters sig punches I couldn’t help but think of Nate Diaz he always paws that right out with a jab or hook followed by the big left down the pipe almost instantly

And thank you for saying that Teddy Whyte deserves a shot at Wilder or Joshua again, out of all those guys. And also, if the Wilder AJ fight can't get made, I'd love to see Ortiz Whyte, Fury Whyte, Fury Parker. There are fights out there in the HWD. The promoters need to make it happen
