Recapping Wilder v. Breazeale ('Jrock' Williams & Inoue Fights) + Upcoming Joshua & Ruiz Fight

THE FIGHT with Teddy Atlas | Episode 12
Available on iTunes here: itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/t...
Also available wherever else you get your podcasts.
MORE DETAIL ON THE SHOW
Teddy Atlas and co-host Ken Rideout kick off with a discussion on the Julian 'Jrock' Williams vs. Jarrett Hurd fight (:33). This one took place on May 11. Jrock went into Hurd's backyard in Fairfax, VA and took the WBA, IBF, and IBO 154-pound titles in a PBC main event on FOX.
Teddy and Ken interviewed Jrock on the Monday following the fight -- that will post on Mon., May 27.
Extensive breakdown on the recent Deontay Wilder vs. Dominic Breazeale fight (16:24). Also cover off on what's likely to be next for Wilder -- the potential of a Luis Ortiz fight along with a prediction from Teddy on who might also be next for Wilder (36:50).
Revisit the upcoming Anthony Joshua vs. Andy Ruiz fight, highlighting that this is probably a better matchup than the previously planned Jarrell Miller fight (44:28).
Look at the Naoya Inoue vs Emmanuel Rodriguez the Bantamweight Title fight that took place May 18 in Glasgow (53:07).
Before wrapping up, Teddy gives an analysis of Deontay Wilder's style and how he sets up his knockout punch much like past greats (1:02:10).

Would be perfect if Teddy didn’t rely on a network to get paid. Then we could actually get some real truth outta this. Till then we gotta hear whatever set of opinions espn chooses to allow teddy to have. Now we gotta hear nonsense about some blinding jab that every fighter in every division uses with both hands, elbows and shoulders & make believe like it’s some kind of special move made up by one handed heavyweights

  • @superawesomejeff

That right hand that put down Brazeale was a thing of beauty. It reminded me of Joe Louis the way Deontay snuck the left in between Dominic's guard and pulled his lead hand down to clear the path for the right. Crafty and awkward. Edit: I went back and watched the fight a few more times and it actually looks like Dominic was trying to counter Wilder's jab with a lead uppercut (or an up jab), but Wilder's lead hand boxed out Brezeale's lead hand and kept the path clear. Like Teddy said, if he moved his head better, this fight would have gone at least a few more rounds.

Teddy knows wilder is trash. Can’t downplay the Fury fight on the horizon though. Don’t fall for that bullshit at the end, every other division does that natural reaction basic common sense blinder with every punch they throw. You can blow these trash heavyweights all you want, ain’t gonna change shit into gold

and I 100% agree to the fact that there are too many announcers today who overreact and/or over exaggerate moments that are expected to happen during an event. I also feel that it's becoming more common for announcers to show bias towards certain fighters while calling their fights, this needs to stop as well.

Also his stories about the historical fightees like Sam Langford and Willie Pep, Benny Leonard. I would live to hear a podcast of a Jack Dempsey one he was such a great fighter he's really forgotten by most boxing fans today. I remember my father teaching me about Dempsey when I was about 6 when he bought my little brother and I each a Jack Dempsey fish in a fish tank in our bedroom. Back in 1980 he was still alive and my father said kids that man hit so hard he could bring buildings down.

I was wondering why wasn't Breazeale's left hand up, Wilder told him exactly what he's gonna do, once he touched him with the left. It looked like Breazeale came to the fight, just to get KO'd it was way to easy for Wilder! Great show guys, it just gets better and better!!!
