Exactly…. Haney so called high boxing IQ was no where near the ring!!! Most were calling Ryan a 1 trick pony( the left hook) yet Haney could never get away from it. He said he was caught sleeping on it!!! How you gona get caught sleeping 30 secs into the 1st round??!! Sleeping would happen later in the fight when the other fighter intentionally stops doing something to make you think he’s not gona do that again. But not 30 seconds into the first round. What was it??? When Haney stepping in to throw his right hand,., Garcia threw his hook!!! That’s it!!!! It’s a basic counter. But you have to be in the line of fire which Garcia was willing to do becuz he didn’t respect Haney ‘s power!!! Haney usually enjoys that physical advantages. Height reach and weight. None of that was in play this time and he overestimated his abilities and under-estimated Garcia’s abilities… that’s a recipe for disaster!!!! I remember when I fought Arturo “Thunder” Gatti…. I was so sure once I got him past the 4th round. That I would take over… after 4 rounds I was a beaten fighter and to survive. Haney thought he was the superior technical fighter and that his skills would be too much. That lasted 30 seconds and he was struggling to stay on his feet !!!!

Seeing him do that had me DuckDuckGo’ing to see if gambling losses were tax deductible…it makes my head spin to know that a person CAN claim losses. I knew a person paid taxes on wins so in that sense it’s consistent. But with that said it’s basically the smart thing to do. It drums up marketing and extra exposure….then if a person loses oh well, claim it as an L However I’m kinda with playful. My first thought was that it sounds illegal and in the UFC it would be. But boxing is known to be kinda greasy….. betting on oneself doesn’t sound illegal. But arguably manipulating the odds before you place your bet kinda does (in that he carried himself in a way that made him seem like more of an underdog than he was….and in my mind half of what we saw wasn’t an act)

I came for a breakdown of the Haney Garcia fight, instead I got a 40 min psychiatric analysis of Ryan mostly focused on his social media. Teddy, we’re fight fans man, we come to hear about the fights. Whether the crazy pre-fight stuff and social media posts from Ryan were real or he was putting it all on to fool everyone, who cares? At the end of the day he was more than fit enough mentally and physically to get in there and beat the breaks off Devin, and we’d really prefer you talk about how he did that inside the ring than rather than focusing on all the social media antics. Love you Teddy !! However, Based on Compubox, Garcia won 8 to 4, Haney only won rounds 2-5, overall punch per round & power punches favored garcia in all other rounds, not even counting the knockdowns. Haney got his jab taken away by Garcia hurting him the very first jab he threw, by feint jabbing into check hook, & Garcia showed what he learned from Tank, lateral movement, forcing opponent to chase you & catch them with different looks. Which is why hes using the unfavorable shoulder roll. turning his back. Last point, some fighters have issues with weight draining, & than gaining it back, especially early in career as fighters grow into their bodies. Haney has made this weight before without any issues, & Haney blows up the same as Garcia. The fact Haney kept getting up from all those clean hooks, shows the weight didnt effect him & that he was in tip top shape &, thus had a minimal effect in the fight.

If i had to guess what we saw leading up to the fight was mostly real, and towards the end it was him leaning into the narrative because it became a win/win. Haney keep coming back. He's not a quitter, RYAN IS. Ryan was beat by 3 lbs. A fluke win doesn't make him ANY kind of great fighter. Not only that, the fact he has to make an ass of himself in order to get in the ring tells me he's NOT ever going to be any kind of real historic champion. Ever. But Devin does still have a chance. It was 6 knockdowns and the ref kept him up in the worst one it was the later knock down 10th round where the ref did the right thing counted the count quickly and got out the way. From 2 to 5 Haney boxed great.

In the 9th round the in-play odds on a McComb decision were 1:9 ON.

I find it funny how the ref took a point from Ryan but let Haney get away with punching on the break TWICE before that 😂

Dock was yelling break and then not breaking them. Allowing the holding on both sides. Taking the point was after not breaking while yelling break previously . Allowing the hits to the back after not allowing it. Two slips called that were knockdowns. Terrible night by Dock. Luckily the decision went in the right direction or these things would be the story of the fight. Overshadowing an exciting bout as only boxing can do.

this is the best assessment of haney garcia i have heard. There were a lot of mistakes made on both sides. No one is talking about how garcia turned his back.. or how haney's strategy departed from his established strengths

The Sean McComb vs Arnold Barboza Jr fight reminded me of a fight Teddy did commentary for in 2006. In 2006 on ESPN Noufel Ben Rabbah fought Juan Urango and boxed his head off, a lot like the shut out Sean McComb pitched last Saturday night. After both fights I felt disgusted, and I felt terrible for the fighter who got screwed. Teddy thanks for trying to get a National Unilateral Commission together, so these screw jobs can get overturned, and so we can get these judges who have their hands in the big promoters pockets out of there!

tired of hearing it... "poor Haney, he showed he's a great champion". Hogwash, other than the early round level change jab, he just didn't look good!
