Rebuilding my WRECKED Yamaha R1 at home
After fixing the broken parts one by one I finally start rebuilding my wrecked Yamaha R1. The welding and painting is done, now it’s time to put it back together.
So if you want to see how I rebuild my wrecked bike, it’s here!!
With the accident, the front wheel was bent and I’m not going to be able to straighten it this time, so I change it for a complete front end that’s straight.
The swingarm was also open following the impact of the R1, so I replaced it because welding couldn’t have been the fix there.
And with a frame freshly painted back on the engine I can finally put my forks and my swingarm on it, now I have a roller, it’s so much more convenient!
Alright, on next video we keep putting more on this bike!

Hi I'm Tristan!
I live in New York and when I'm not working on my fitness clothing line (yoked.net) I DIY with intensity 😅
For now, I restore wrecked motorcycles. So I disassemble, weld, machine and fix those bikes so they can go back on the road!

That’s great! If you plan on rebuilding it (and not parting it out) my advice is to pay very close attention to the initial cost of that bike. I will talk about the financial aspect of that rebuild when I’m completely done.
Nicee, almost done :D good job Tristan

Yep! That’s pretty much the spirit of what I’m doing these days ✌️
I love your videos. I’m building a 2008 yamaha R1 right now and I can’t find the special tools for the engine to frame adjustment bolts can you tell me what they are. I can’t pull them up from your link anymore.
Do you have an updated link for the engine and swing arm adjust bolt you listed?
@Tristan Durand - what paint code did you use to paint the swing arm? can we apply touch up paint to repair some dings. your help is appreciated

So yes I will be back on it soon, I was missing a part for a long time but I finally lay hand on it. So now when I’m stopped on the R1 I can work on the Virago ✌️
Can you do more with the cafe racer

Yes of course 😅 I missed something for a while but just found it (lower triple clamp for R6 front end). So when I’m waiting on something for the R1 I will work on the Virago café racer 👍
Where did you buy it from?
