How to Straighten Motorcycle Front End ? Wrecked Yamaha R1 Rebuild - Part 8

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We carry on with the wrecked R1 rebuild!
Today we put back the rear subframe, with the battery box, relay holder, and harness.
I take advantage working on the bike to fit the clutch cover freshly repainted on the engine.
And I want to make sure my forks haven’t turned in the triple clamps or are set in an off position because of the wheel axle and/or the front fender.
So I tell how to straighten a motorcycle front end: I loosen the lower triple clamp, wheel axle, calipers and front fender so that there is no stress on the forks. Shake the bike when it’s vertical and tighten everything back in place in the right order.
Oh, I also needed to paint the upper triple clamp so it’s in a finishing worthy of the rest of the bike, that bike will purr soon…

Hi I'm Tristan!
I live in New York and when I'm not working on my fitness clothing line (yoked.net) I DIY with intensity 😅
For now, I restore wrecked motorcycles. So I disassemble, weld, machine and fix those bikes so they can go back on the road!

Great work. The original is powder coated. With paint.. keep it thin, esp on inside corners where that washer is. 🙏🏽

Great job but you tightened the lower pinch bolts before the stearing stem nut which wouldn't allow the centre bolt and lower triple tree close together properly, you have to do the steering stem nut before the the lower triple tree clamp bolts 👍🏼

There's easier ways to get those bolts in the ignition out too instead of drilling. I just did it on my r6 top tree. Dremel tool, heat and extract. :)

  • @TristanDurandBuilds
