Changing Tires + Chain & Sprockets + Brake Bleed for 1st RIDE on Wrecked Yamaha R1 Rebuild - Part 11

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

After restarting the engine on the last video • Trying to START a Wrec... I wanted to ride the bike…
So today it’s time to put new tires on, a chain and sprockets kit (520 conversion) and bleed the brakes 🔧
So I ordered new tires and I started to swing tires irons around 😅
The chain and sprocket kit I chose is a 520 conversion kit, so big weight savings and less friction on the menu.
It fits very nicely too!
And now, I need brakes since the engine is linked to the rear wheel and I don’t want to climb trees if my clutch cable or other life delicacy happens after I start it 🤞
So I bleed my brakes front and rear to control that monster of a bike if anything goes south
Once the new battery is on it’s time to go for a quick spin, that’s my first motorcycle ride since I’m in the US 🇺🇸
I hope you enjoy!

Hi I'm Tristan!

Thank you for showing your struggle trying to get the tires on. Everyone says you can do it yourself and I've done it on dirt bike tires and that made me work up a sweat. I'm like I'm not going to even try to do it on a way stiffer motorcycle tire. I thought I was just being a bitch but I see it is more difficult than it is worth. I feel way better about paying to get it done now.

Yellow dots on tyres should be aligned with the valve. Guess that’s why rear was out so much. But they weren’t that far away 😉 Nice job. And sounds sweet

Idk why youtube recommended this channel to me but I'm glad it did! I just watched the whole R1 series today and man I really felt your happiness when you went for that first ride! Just the sped up footage of you cleaning and fixing the bike so far must have taken you countless hours! Not to mention actually going through the footage and editing the videos XD you must be a little crazy to do all that! I was wondering how much you've approximately spent on just the R1 parts so far and have you done any calculations on how much you think the overall cost will be in the end? Good shit dude, keep it up

That’s the type of comment that just hit home 😀 Thanks a lot for your nice words man, I’m happy to see you actually realize the work behind those videos. Yes, it’s a lot of time, way more editing behind a screen than actually working on the bike by the way 👨🏻‍💻 I’m working on the Virago right now but I’ll get back to finishing the R1 in the next 2 weeks. Yes at the end of the project I will do a cost breakdown because everybody is asking for it 😅👍

Yes that quick test was everything. So rebuilding a bike you quickly understand that you need to keep the project on a budget otherwise it doesn’t make sense anymore. I would love to put a quick shifter on this bike but that’ll be for another one I think 👍

  • @TristanDurandBuilds

I know I would do it myself but I’ve been doing that for while... it’s been a slow progression 🔧 It’s very easy to start taking things apart and then life takes over and you sell that giant puzzle to someone like me... So as you’re not experienced I wouldn’t recommend you start working on this bike yourself And I don’t think that it financially makes sense to dish out 1000s to a mechanic... Why don’t you sell it?

@@TristanDurandBuilds I see you ! But yeah right lol again though there’s on one way to learn right ? Plus you’re a FaceTime call always anyways hahaha jk. Why do you say it doesn’t sense though ? The reason I won’t sell it because it’s my first super bike and I busted my ass to pay that off in cash. It’s a long story with the bike honestly.. I appreciate you taking time out of your day and writing back salute amigo✌️

Every time I granted an emotional connection to a material thing (a vehicle in particular) it ended up being a bad decision financially. I’m all about learning by doing (you saw my videos, most of the things I do are new to me) The proportion of people starting that kind of project and dropping halfway is staggering, that’s why I don’t recommend it to a beginner. When don’t know what’s broken you don’t know how much it will cost and how much work is needed. That’s why I feel like you have to move on, but maybe it’s a simple thing that you could fix in a month for less than a $1000, it’s a gamble
