Rebuilding my rustfree 2006 GMC Sierra with parts from across the country
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
I think I need some more practice taking this truck apart. Let's get it apart so we can paint it and get it back together for what I hope is the last time. Then we can move onto fixing what the factory did wrong and what the last someone didn't get right. In case you were wondering, I hate headliners!

To be honest,if I have a window out of the car I'll clean it,even where it doesn't show. But that's just because I'm anal about that kind of thing. Also why it takes me forever to put stuff back together.
You certainly go all out with your builds to make sure everything is as good as possible, Whoever buys this "old" truck will get something much better than it would normally be. Looking forward to seeing it finished (hopefully next week). All the best from Queensland Australia.

I rebuilt a completely flooded out Suburban. It was a salt water flood and they said it probably got up to the dash. I found water damage under the headliner! I had to replace all the wiring, every switch, motor, regulator, dash, steering column, engine, and fuse box. What a long tiring job. Later I had to rebuild the rear end and replace the front bearing packs. Too much work!!! I have seen all of these areas before multiple times. I had to buy a rollover suburban body to get all the parts I needed. I really appreciate how much work this is!
Out of all the vehicles I have watched you rebuild, this one is my favorite by far. Somebody is going to have a seriously nice truck.
The sarcasm is what REALLY makes this channel worth returning to. That and the knowledge of these gm trucks.

“I hope I’m gonna clean that….” Classic. 😊👍👍
I never get tired of watching you rebuild Silverados and GMC's, somehow it's therapeutic watching these trucks being restored to their original glory, plus the humor that goes along with it is what makes even better, just like when I'm drinking coffee, when I add the Irish cream it makes it that much better. Giter done!
Enjoying the commentary. Tks for sharing.
8:50 "remember to put your doors as far away as possible"....when I worked construction one a hole would park his vehicle as far away as possible. I couldn't figure out why....then it dawned on me one day when the boss told him to cut up some sheathing for a house with his circular saw. He took off his tool belt and went for a 15 minutes hike to get his saw. Made the cuts, then 15 minutes back to put his saw back in his vehicle. Then an hour later? needed it again, so off he went. He'd do anything to avoid work. For eg: we'd have our 15 min break or lunch and when it was time to get back to work THAT'S when he left to use the portapotty.....anything to get out of work.
Great job 👍 I like how you go the extra mile those little details that really separate a good repair as compared to not such a good repair thanks for sharing
Still lovin your commentary... dry humor ... no music ... clean freaks ... you are a quantum leap above the others ... but it is you tube so ... PLEASE keep going we love you
That truck, or at least the tailgate, came from Hempstead TX which is 15 min from me! Pretty cool
5:50 I was having a crappy luck day. Now my day is still as crappy as before, but I sure had a good laugh. Thanks for that!!

Well done fella👍👍
Crikey! A NEW old truck! Way ta go!!
Like your style. Rebuilding a "wreck" is a great thing to do.
Liked the refinishing of the headliner.
Scott, want to thank you for your all of your video series... my son hit a raccoon on the highway doing 65 and destroyed his front bumper and right front wheel well liner.. couldn't find a Pontiac G6 bumper replacement " how to " but after watching pretty much every one of your repair videos i was confident i could handle it and the best part is i NEVER realized i owned 2 bumper installation tools, both a right AND a left so i didnt have to stop the local Snap On truck and spend a fortune for them.... YOU ROCK and where the HELL has that lazy mr happy been
I've redone the headliner in my 05 standard cab. One tip that Scott mentioned is be sure you glue both surfaces. the headliner board and the fabric. Ask me how I know? My truck is dark charcoal gray and I covered the headliner in Scott's favorite digitized camo! Actually looks great!
I love the casual implication of the "... drop it on the floor..." comment. Almost as if the natural location for the overhead console was on the floor, which may well be the case for most GM parts.
Love your work!
Nice job. The truck looks good
Thank you for another informative and entertaining episode. Always enjoy your videos. Thank you. Peace!

Wow, now I know the easy way to get the door latch out. It's a bugger reaching in there to release the rod clips and stuff. I have to do it again to replace the switch on it, so that's great. Who says watching videos is a waste of time!

I am also doing a crew cab build here in texas. This video gives me some inspiration to finish mine off....
Really enjoyed the video....I have a 2005 Silverado that is low mileage that the wife wrecked about 3 weeks ago that needs a cab now. Most importantly the wife and daughter are all right, they were sore for a few days, but not really hurt. Wish you were closer and I could hire you.

Yet another great video
I like how ya horass the clean freaks. keep it up.
If you're just doing a flat headliner, you can use regular contact cement from the hardware store, brush it on thick, roll your material out and press it down, then roll it back, let it tack up, and then roll it out again. I did panels for my van that way. You just do it in sections nice and easy and it's held up fine so far.
love these year trucks for removing doors way easier then any other year made 99-07 classic just lift off!!! .that color axially sprays out and matchless pretty good .
Great job 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Mr. Spoty was missing in action. 😂

Nice job Vector, Nice truck you will have no problem selling it.
Funny thing I'm from West Texas you'll find trucks rust-free here all the time . In fact I can't remember the last time I saw a rusty car driving around here. Our problem is the sun most paint jobs don't last very long
Scott you should go have a chat with scott's GMC Emporium ! Tell him it's not doing a good job for you! Lol One thing I really do like Scott is your attention to detail. It makes a big difference!

I really, really like this truck.
Rebuilding my 07 LBZ, managed to find a rust free box in a farmers field a week ago. Had 4 inches of leaf litter and mud in the box sides, but no rust. Trying to get that heat shield off the bottom before painting and those T25s won't budge, can't even find replacements since they aren't listed on the box diagrams. Hopefully it will be worth all the trouble.

had the same problem on my 2006 sierra i drilled them out and retapped the holes then new bolts
About 30 years ago I helped an ex re-glue the fabric of her headliner back into place. Worked like a charm except she stepped on it while we had it out of the car. So she ended up with a pair of footprints right above the passenger seat. When her Dad saw them I’m not sure if he really bought her excuse.

Missed you last Friday.
Before I buy a car I always take it completely apart to check for cleanliness. Can never be too careful. If it can't be seen it must be clean. Words to live by.
Great job on the headliner. I've done 3 Dodge Caravans the same way.
HA, ok Scott, we will have to call you "The DOORMAN" from now on. Yes, off/on, repeat. Do enjoy your videos though, it is fun to see you use tools I never heard of or seen before. I am from another era when things were all bolted or screwed together and seams were "leaded" over. So watching you work magic with the parts to make a whole is truly fun stuff to see. Thanks for sharing! Keep Well! Rich
Great looking truck man I used to have an 01 Silverado with the 5.3 awesome truck and yes easy to work on those headlights unlike todays 😂😂😂
Still enjoying your content although I'm watching you a day later, just was busy🤗😎🤗😎
I’m currently in the process of rebuilding a neglected 2004 Silverado. Cab and doors are in great shape. Everything else, not so much. Starting with upgrading to power windows, mirrors, and locks this weekend from a donor truck.
Haters be Damned! I really enjoy your narratives, and your Vlogs!
Hay Scott, Those parts of window glass is and was dirty "before" it was installed, every piece of glass on Camaros Corvettes, impala's their all dirty, they come from Corning Glass in NY dirty. The clean freaks are not up to the task of cleaning parts of truck that NEVER GET SEEN ! This is getting to be great rebuild. With Covid, buyable cars and truck are getting hard to come by. Dealers buy anything they can on Craigslist, smack 4K on it and put it on their lots. Crazy ! but again, a great video this time, Keep up the entertaining videos. Thank you

The headliner loks great Scott.I need to replace the one on my Avalanche, but probably never will.
A stiff bristle carpet power brush on a vacuum removes that foam in a flash and leaves almost no mess. It's like $4 on eBay to buy one and I highly recommend it.
@vehcor I have seen headliner guys use a knotted wire wheel on a 5" angle grinder to remove the headliner foam. It went fairly quick.
Very nice. Gonna be a great truck for somebody.... Very smooth on the headliner... Very smooth. I like that. I did one of those... You need to have a "pre headliner team meeting", if someone is going to help you.... Make sure they are doing EXACTLY what you expect them to do.... I kinda ended up doing the whole thing at once.... Don't ask. You are smarter to go half & half.... Mine kinda worked out fine, but there was 5 times as much stress, and you don't need that in your life..... Seriously, you don't.... Heh heh heh!
Thank you
I have an 06 at my place for parts, I'd be glad to donate what you might need for parts if I have it. It was rolled but interior is super nice, and runs and moves. 100% complete at the moment.
There’s just not enough Kleenex in the world for the clean freaks. Keep amazing us as only you can do. Boring Build Friday was truly boring last Friday. It’s just not Friday without Mr Scott.
Well done!good work…..no way I would even attempt doing this…. Hehehehe

Your Aussie accent requires A LOT of work Scott. If you ever head over here, I'll happily be your coach, sound good cobba? :)
What does your paint guy use to scuff or sand the doors and panels? I used 400 grit sand paper for a cab and it’s really a pain to do. Just wondering if you know of an easier way. Looks nice. I’m in the process of building me a southern truck too.
I noticed you used headliner material that had the foam, normally people just use regular fabric that doesn't have the foam.
Те времена, когда авто делали с уважением к покупателю.
That window would’ve closed so much better if it was clean. GEEEEEEZ!!!
You should have cleaned one of the windows. That would have driven the clean freaks more than all four being dirty.

I enjoy your videos ! Great skill . Point of reference i would have cleaned the glass but the impeccably clean glass wouldnt matter as all those pieces i wouldnt remember where i put them if i found them i wouldnt remember where they went and as i installed the clean window it would slip from my hands and crashto the floor !! Lol dont let the bastards wear you down !!
I've never thought "Gnomes" could be so helpful, we must have a different sort in the UK 🤣🤣🤣
I click "like" on the start of the video... I'm never disappointed.
I’m bringing my 04 Silverado back to life and was wondering where you got your carpet and headliner at?
you sure make it all look easy.. lol
