REBIRTH OF A 911: Porschemeister - The Porsche Specialists | HD Documentary

Ғылым және технология

The dream of many classic car collectors and a legend: the Porsche 911. Its restoration is time-consuming, requires patience and fine, specific craftsmanship. In 2003, Manfred Hering founded a manufactory specializing in the revival of Porsches. It is not a profit- or efficiency-oriented business, but rather 85 employees who perform a heartfelt art. Their goal: to restore an original Porsche with precise, clean work.

Upon visiting w/ Manfred & touring the facility 13 yrs ago I was stunned by the breadth & scale of his long-term vision. Quite the accomplishment to successfully execute to such a high standard profitably. He is as he appears in the video; focused, practical, well-adjusted, a true businessman-enthusiast. Quite the team of mechanics & craftsman.

Very impressive. It is one reason why I LOVE the German people. The people are dedicated to perfection. As a Porschephile it was exciting to see a warehouse of original parts. I would like to acknowledge the wisdom of the owner who founded his business niche so early on as the earlier model Porsches are a great investment. I personally prefer the original models of the Porsches up to 1998 as they were air cooled and these cars did not have the hydraulic or computer controlled assistants… This has probably been one of the best videos I have watched on KZread…

Mervellous video or review, I´m 68 years old, I´m a Porsche fan since, minimum 50 years ago mainly, the MEZGER air colled flat six´scars. I´m onwer of a 964 Carrera 4 from 1990, dark grey, with 89000 Kms on the clock, 3,6 l (250 cv) bought in 2001 and at the present day with 126000 kms, well mainteined with careful full service, every year and the car runs today, like new, solid, robust and a pleasure to drive,(I know the first owner). The Zuffenhausen cars are true masterpieces since the 356´s last century, until today. Thank you.

Amen Brother. I am from Namibia and worked for Porsche in Germany. From day one they made it very clear that quality is at the forefront. Hard working people from 7 till it`s done but, after work such beautiful, honest good friends and the finest humor ever. No, in your face phony BS. We work hard together and we enjoy life together and you are always welcome. The best years of my life. Also. Germany is absolutely beautiful. Stunning. Like living in a 3D post cart. 🖤❤💛

Me and my best friend have restored a few vehicles. He was taught to flow lead at a coach builder he worked at. One of the old timers taught him to do it cause he was ready to retire and my buddy is very good and smart so he took him under his wing. It's amazing to watch and so much better than just using filler which shrinks and cracks out. It is truly a sight to see and makes for a much better job.

I was at VF-1 on the USS Ranger I worked on missile guidance systems on the F-14. Rocket Science... I never thought Id love something else. Made formula 1 look like a toy. I do have a passion for Porsche like nothin else back here on earth there just isnt anything else with the same winning philosophy and the same dedication to development and improvement. Porsche has the same attitude we had. I like that about them, they always find a way and when they do they crush it and nobody can touch it. Then like a real bosses they quit and let everyone catch up, then they do it again in another class with another car. They are just the best.

I think the art of restoration is wonderful!! Congratulations for the initiative of this important company!! However, there is the side of price inflation of these vehicles, even in a state of scrap, they became worth tens of thousands of dollars!! So it's sad that they disappeared from the dreams of people who don't have a mountain of money.... 😥

I wouldn't worry. 300K to 2M Euros. The people buying these can afford to LOSE that kind of money AND they most probably will when combustion engines are banned and these nice looking dinosaurs are no longer of interest. Classic foolishness. Rich people's wet dreams. Get a life - NO car is worth that money but well done the guy who has the business and can charge those sums.

There is plenty of floor pans available on a 964 as they kept the same floor pan until the early 1990s. The issue is more to do with cost than lack of availability. It's a good thing a restored 911 is an appreciating asset as it somewhat justifies using donor cars to restore everything into one good car.

I had a brown car , not a Porsche but the colour had faded so I had it sprayed black. It looked better than the browb colour lol, but seems to suit the 911 shape not a boxy shape. But I'd love to restore a similar vehicle which was my 2nd car l ever brought but the vehicles are now rare as the UK weather is hard on older vehicles. It was a JDM vehicle, but can't remember the last time I saw one. But there's something about the 911 og shape that's simple and easy to live with but so faaaaaar out of my price range. Never mind l could always buy a booster off a hairdresser lol kidding. A touch out of sorts for filming continuity but still good on explaining what's removable, and returned to the restored shell.

I have three Porsches. A 85 Targa red, a 78 Targa white, a 76 912e. All were projects and I am turning 76 this year. Should I sell them in bulk to one buyer, separate buyers, restore and sell restored. They are all about 60-70% restored at this point. I’m looking for a strategy to deal with them. Another option is to finish them and give to my grown children as an inheritance. We live in California. All cars rust free. I’ve owned all for 30-40 years.

I really enjoyed this video. Thanks. I am curious though. At 43:31 (plus or minus) the green targa 911 is presented. Is the front hood latch not completely engaged? If so, I bet the owner of Early 911s lost his mind when he saw that (or will now) as he seems very particular (which reminds me of myself). Not to mention the owner of the car - spoiler alert. My most favourite car model and era. Thanks for posting.

This video makes me kick myself in the ass big time for the 911s I passed up when they were 5,000.00 and ran. I turned down a 1981 brown 911 I could have gotten for 8,000. This car evidently had broken cylinder head studs and leaked more oil than was stored in the crankcase. Plus, someone took the original white cotton head liner and sprayed it dark brown. What a gross addition! If you have the experience dropping a VW bug engine, you can drop a 911 Boxer engine just as well. Now the gaskets can be changed easily and the heads pulled for inspection, if necessary. I made the mistake of buying a 944 from a friend. These cars are no more inexpensive to repair than 911s and they are such loads of iron compared to a 911. They are so slow out of the hole, it makes you want to open the driver's door and help the car along by scootering it. I have had my share of patching up undercarriages of MGs. What fun repairing rust! Buying a 911 is difficult because all the mechanical parts are interchangeable, and the average Joe has no idea what they are spending their money on.
