I don't even get the basic premise. A galactic empire attacks a farming village. It's so incredibly off-balance, there's no way to make that work in a remotely plausible way. Star Wars at least gave the Rebels a fleet and a whole planet to work from.

He actually knows his style is much different than most other cinematographers and doesn’t want any unnecessary hiccups with production. I understand why he wants to do his own cinematography.

TBH I only enjoyed 300, Watchmen and to some degree, Man of Steel. I thought the Snyder Cut of Justice League was a better movie than the theatrical cut, but it also exemplifies the worst problems in his movies. Namely, Snyder's movies are structured around people doing cool things and saying cool lines but whenever he tries to show something with more nuance, it comes across as forced at best, and false at worst. The fundamental problem is he's not willing to trust his audience, so he relies on over telling everything, often in slow motion. That's why his movies show a lot but nothing meaningful really happens in spite of all that spectacle. By the time we got to BvS, he's also gained so much creative control that an editor can't even trim his movies to pace and flow better. Every one of his director's cuts essentially add more superfluous baggage that clog up the movie more than adding depth or nuance to it. Take BvS's ultimate cut: many of the new scenes were simply redundant if Snyder trusted his audience to put 2 and 2 together instead of trying to do the math for us. And in Justice League's ending, he tried to set up 3 different sequels instead of just running with one.

I blame noone but snyderbros for this debacle . They continue to wax lyrical of snyders obviously limited capabilities. They must really like this bland palette, slo mo hero garbage. Like someone said “ He makes movies for people that like Punching holes into a wall”

Some of his old movies were good. But Snyder has lost it.

I don’t think he’s lost it. He’s just exploring right now as a director.

He doesn’t suck by any means. I just think he’s a hit or miss. I do respect how he’s much different from other filmmakers though.

We often forget that a director is not the only person involved with a movie. And even when they have great control they are going to occasionally release a sub par product. Directors I love have all made movies I have disliked. Ridley Scott made Alien Covenant. Stanley Kubrik made Eyes Wide Shut. Nolan made Tenet. Speilberg made AI. And Snyder made this pile of crap.

True. I like Snyder as a director overall but these movies weren’t very good. He did direct, write, produce, and do the cinematography though.
