Really Ford? No Tow Hooks On The F150?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We got a call for a two wheel drive Ford F-150 that was stuck in the sand at Sand Hollow State Park. It took a little extra care because it had a very low air dam in the front. Soon, he was out and on his way!

it is a money game. By the time the car maker manufactures 250k vehicles and those tow hooks cost $10 each vehicle for materials and labor to install, you are looking at 2.5 million in cost. Compare that to how many of these vehicles actually ever go offroad and get stuck to the point of where those tow hooks are essential to their recovery (instead of using other recovery points on the vehicle), it is financially not worth it for the car makers to put them on.

@@davidgates1122 I'm almost positive they just let him in (when he's going for a recovery)--the state park doesn't want stuck vehicles to remain stuck in their facility. My SUBARU would handle that, much less my truck! Then I see you and your Jeep have issues in the same terrain. Pretty obvious that your sand is a whole different level and while my truck might(!) do OK, my Subaru would become a land anchor in a hurry.

Can't see where that kind of behavior would be appropriate or beneficial (that is, make the recovery go more smoothly), but what do I know?

Why are you using shackle to connect two ropes? It's very dengerous. In case one of two ropes will broken the shackle will came to fly. Ropes can be connected without shackles.

I will copy and past Matt's privious answer to this question, He is asked many times, Matt's Off Road Recovery 1 year ago I’m really grappling with how to answer questions like this.(i’m getting a lot of them, and some of them have a lot more venom venom than yours) The Internet has made it sound like recovery ropes are poised to strike without warning. Me and 100 close friends have been doing snatch recovery for his long as the ropes have existed. I have never seen a recovery rope do the kind of damage that snapped chains and cables do. I love being alive. I spend a lot of time avoiding things that I think are going to snuff me out early. I feel confident and comfortable with my techniques, and practices. I have a lot of years, and hundreds of successful snatch recoveries under my belt. I have also witnessed many, many snatch recoveries. I try to learn something new from every single one. (I have seen at least a dozen ropes break, none of them made me fear for my life) That being said, I think improper use of recovery gear, such as I have, could definitely be lethal in the wrong hands, and in the wrong situation. Unfortunately, I can’t please everybody... I will probably just keep doing what I’m doing.

I never understood why tow hooks are on the front of 4x4 pickup trucks and not in the back. If you're trying to pull someone else out, why would you be driving backwards to do that? 🤔

Suggestion: get a drop hitch for a lower, clearance angle on the air dams. Should work front and rear on the Cherokee. Better yet, you can make one yourself. No tow hooks under those black plastic covers in the front of the 2WD F-150 ?? Bummer !!!

John, Really show me the secret tanks in any commercial airliner. How about the chem trucks do they disguise them as food service trucks? Oxidizing hydrocarbons liberates water as a byproduct. When it is -60F the water freezes into ice crystals then sublimates to water vapor without going through the liquid phase. Get a book!
