Honda Accord....Trapped!

We got called out for a Honda accord that had become stuck on the side of the road at Sand Hollow.
We were able to get the customer pulled back on solid ground fairly easily and send him on his way.
Next we were called out for a jeep that had become stuck at the upper Hurricane sand dunes.
The sand is extremely dry at the moment, and we have had some incredible wind storms that have made the dunes really difficult to Traverse.
Even so, we decided to take Ed for a ride across the dunes as he had never been.

I'm the Accord driver. Glad to see I made some people smile, hope you enjoyed ;) I'd like to thank Matt for providing professional help without mocking me for my stupid mistake ✌🏼 I saw many of you wise commenters had already figured who I am ;) But in case that matters to you here's my actual story. I'm 23, I grew up poor, served in my country's military (mandatory). Had to work as hard as I could to get myself out of poverty. My father left us when I was a kid, my mom never had a car. (only here in America poor people drive cars) This is my first car ever that I paid in cash with my own money. I didn't have anyone to teach me how to drive, I had to pay for driving school, they don't teach you anything there. This is the first time I was ever towed. Maybe millennial, not gay, but indeed I made a stupid mistake. :) I'm very much inexperienced with cars and driving. Sorry, that's just how it is when you grow up having to tackle some real life problems by yourself. Never had the time to pay much attention to sand dunes on the road. It's not because I have "helicopter parents" but because that's how I learn when there's no one to teach me.

You learn by making mistakes, nobody is perfect. I'm sure everyone here has made a dumb mistake in their life, likely more dumb then this, so they can't talk shit. You Aren't even half as bad as some of the other people featured in this channel, bringing 2wd rental vans offroading on the trials lol. It was literally just an honest miscalculation. Glad to hear your living the American dream and on the come up 🇺🇲🦅

Good on you man. Nobody should feel ashamed that they're not expert off-road drivers, its a specialized skill that as you said, many people can only learn because they have money and time to burn on off-road rigs to drive around in the sand and mud in their spare time. Just read the negative comments (or don't) and imagine them as 14 year old kids living in their parent's house trying to sound knowledgeable or smart. If they're not 14, then its even funnier because they never learned how to grow up.

Jokes on him tho because he destroyed his truck trying to get me out before giving up. Found a nice dude with a old f350 with huge tires on it and he pulled me out no problem.

I wouldn't say the guy turned the wheel as in purposefully did it wrong, but just didn't do anything other than sit in the seat and watch the brakes (not close enough apparently cause the parking brake was still on). Gotta remember, most of the time the people with problems have never experienced anything like this before so its totally foreign to them.

I know what towing is like, I've done it, and it's not all glory and beautiful days, but to be able to do so in some of the world's most beautiful countryside has to be a bonus. I live in the foothills of the Pyrénées and know what it's like to rise over a crest and have the scenery take my breath away, and it still does after 20 years of living here. Whatever the crap life throws at you, nature has a way of bringing you back to what's important: sky, mountains, water, loved ones and, of course, your dawg.

My God with the steering wheels. Why can no one understand to keep them straight, especially when getting pulled backwards? "Ehh I don't need to tell him to keep it straight, I'm only pulling him a few feet" *guy in car* IMMEDIATELY TURNS WHEEL Love your videos Matt! I like how you're always nice and never make your customers feel like idiots.

To be fair to the guy with the Accord, it must be scary being stranded so far from the main road with no survival gear and probably no, or very little, water. Hard to think straight when you're really afraid.

I see one of the comments on here was puzzled why the jeep should be stuck as it didn't look bad, oh the instant I saw that footage of how the jeep sat and was equipped tire wise ( no idea if the tires were aired down or not though ) with small stock tires and my guess is open diffs, takes nothing spin out once the axles get crossed up like that and with no forward momentum one front and the opposite rear tire kick the sand out from those tires leaving the other two tires high and dry carrying most of the weight of the vehicle. Happens quick and not easy to get out of once it happens with an under equipped driveline. Also goes back to companies like Jeep and others giving new owners too much confidence in their rigs as its all about selling vehicles and why we see all wheel drive low to the ground SUV's being pulled out quite often in places they should never have even entertained going in the first place. Oh well, it makes for some good chuckles and entertainment to watch it on here !.

Matt, you are such a good guy. There clearly are people who should not be allowed off a leash, much less behind the wheel of a car. You must secretly wish them good luck to make it out of sight before they are neck deep in trouble all over again. Who gave this fool a driver's license... who rented him a car... who let him out of sight? "please drive my car across the sand on the highway so I can go"....what have we come to as a civilization if we can't even make it home?

This sand it just like the dry powdery snow we get in winter. It blows across roads in the same way. You cross it just like Matt crossed the snow: get a running start, let off on the gas so you don't dig in, and roll across. The other videos of "rocking" to get out, of digging, of wheels throwing up blown sand; they all look identical to dry powdery snow.
