Ford F150 Stuck For Good

So we got a call for a Ford F150 STX 4x4 that was stuck in the sand on the Babylon Mill Road near Leeds Utah.
The sand was very soft so we couldn’t get the traction that we needed to pull it out forward.
We were able to get it rotated a little bit and then pull it out backwards.

In addition to the interesting recoveries, Matt does a great service for Utah tourism and should get a sponsorship for showing the scenery, and educating tourists about off road conditions. I've visited Utah each Fall since 2014, though mostly from Panguitch and places north (Zion was the main exception) Thanks to Matt, the area around Hurricane is now on the bucket list. I also know who to call if I get stuck.

@YT and FB vaffanculo Yes. Many beautiful places, and cultures. I have been to five countries and hope to see more in time. But, driving to western states is much less expensive, requires less itinerary planning, and has less risks of things like flight cancellations and delays. I've been to all western states. A surprise on one of my trips to Europe in '86 was Chernobyl. A brief but strong illness was likely radiation sickness. On the bright side, tourism was WAY down, yielding easy accommodations. A waiter in Stockholm made light of it by asking if I knew how to make Chicken Kiev. His answer...first you preheat the city to 350 degrees. Another plus for Utah....we speak the same language.

Matt makes things look easy because he's been doing it a long time ! I have over 30 years of ACTIVE experience and still screw up sometimes. BUT if you insist on doing it, I have a Great ole Ford 4x4 Wrecker that I'll sell you ! I routinely winch out Big 4x4s from BAD Mud Holes here in Ocala National Forest in Central Florida. Hi, cool videos you have. I always like a challenging recovery. I just thought you should know that the company I worked for for 17 years had a bad accident while attempting a recovery in snow. tThey hooked to the stuck vehicle tow ball like on the white Ford in this video and the ball sheared. It went through the rear window of the tow vehicle and struck the driver in the skull, smashing it to the point that he is now disabled to the point that he cannot work and requires home care. Please exercise extreme caution when using trailer balls. Thanks.

Using a cable or chain on a tow ball is potentially dangerous. Using a snatch strap is totally different. Tow balls break on impact, but a snatch strap applies pull gradually. If the p/u had lockers, he could probably have gotten himself out but the ground was so uneven, 2 wheels had no weight on them most of the time. I'm a big fan of snatch straps if the situation is right. I can't fault the choice here.

Hi Matt. Another great video. Just a friendly tip, don’t ever use a tow all as a recovery point. Over here in Australia, many people each year are killed or maimed when tow balls snap off. Many 4WD clubs are now running safety courses about this potentially deadly risk. All new members are being informed of this. People in the towing industry over here are also being told not to use tow balls as a recovery. I would hate to see you or anyone else be injured or killed. Keep up the good work. I really enjoy your easy going personality and that of your crew. Your videos are great, don’t change anything. What your doing is nice and simple and very enjoyable to watch. Cheers mate. The kinetic rope he uses is different than a straight chain or strap. This kinetic rope takes away the instant snap and eases into the pull. I get what you're saying about the ball, and I would recommend connecting to something else when possible, but again this type of rope minimizes that risk a lot.

Yes, Matt and his crew do a good job and know what they are doing. That said however, l had to mention a safety concern, re: do not use towbslls as a recovery point. The guy in the truck didn’t hit the gas at all when you were pulling him. Looks like he just left in neutral and let your jeep do all the work.

Scott West I'm not a Ford guy but in fairness the F150 outsells everything else by a HUGE margin...the fact that it's a really popular vehicle is coming into play here.

@Scott West, I must confess, when my F150 gets stuck while in FWD-Low with its diff locked... my Land Rover typically goes in and rescues it in AWD. Its embarrassing to not even need the LR in FWD, let alone FWD Low and locked Differential (like I use to rescue most Jeeps).

98% of ordinary people really do not know anything about SUVs and do not know how to drive them and they do not know how even to active the Locking Differential A painful fact for some who claim to be professional
