Real Life in Madagascar: Walking the Chaotic Streets of Antananarivo

Back for my 4th trip to Madagascar. As usual, my flight lands in Antananarivo. This trip I'm staying near the Place de l'independence for the 1st time. I would recommend staying in the area if you are in town. I booked 3 nights at the Hotel La Pousse Pousse, will be taking a Cotisse bus to Majunga later today.

    fun fact: over 80% of all its fauna & flora is unique solely to Madagascar. One example are the Lemurs; there are approximately 32 different types of lemurs in existence today, all of which are endemic to Madagascar. It is a fascinating creature because apart from human being, it is the only other mammal on earth to have blue eyes.

  • @pddembowski

    @pddembowski

    Ай бұрын

    Hi for these types of questions, just go to Bing Copilot and type in your question. Here is the response I received: **Malagasy**, the language spoken in Madagascar and adjacent islands, indeed has **interesting linguistic connections**. Let's explore: 1. **Austronesian Origins**: - The Malagasy languages belong to the **Austronesian (Malayo-Polynesian)** family of languages. - These languages are spoken on Madagascar and nearby islands. - They share a common origin with other Austronesian languages found across the Pacific and Southeast Asia. 2. **Settlement by Indonesian People**: - Around **2,000 years ago**, Madagascar was settled by an **Indonesian people**. - As these settlers established themselves, the various Malagasy dialects **diversified**. - The close relationship between these dialects reflects their shared ancestry. 3. **Loanwords and Influences**: - Malagasy includes **numerous loanwords** from other languages due to historical interactions. - Some of these influences come from **Bantu, Swahili, Arab, English, and French** sources. - These linguistic borrowings enrich the Malagasy vocabulary. 4. **Closely Related Language**: - Interestingly, the Malagasy language is most closely related to the **Ma'anyan language**, which is still spoken on **Borneo**¹². In summary, while Malagasy has its unique characteristics, its roots lie within the broader Austronesian language family, connecting it to other languages across distant lands and seas. 🌏🗺. haha so im am not only one breathing heavily on those long steps if you mind history of Madagascar you may visit tomb of Rainiharo husband of queen Ranavalona,his son Rainilaiarivony was married to last 3 queens of Madagascar it is couple hundred meters from where you finished your video may be little difficult to find no signs and neglected but still interesting place and you could even relax there where you could often see teenagers practicing dancing because it is flat ground tomb was constructed by Jean Laborde who also constructed queen''s palace and yes,roads are worse each year last month i spent 11 hours on Cotisse going frm Tana to Tamatave they build one new bridge on three being washed away but if you believe in president they will build highway to Tamatave i just don't know who will pay for it

    @@pddembowski I have never been to Madagaskar, but the images in the film do not seem chaotic at all, but rather a city where there is life. For those looking for Relax and silence, Mongolia is ideal. 2 inhabitants per km². I like China, people, people, people, and everyone is different. No room for boredom.

    chaotic means extremely disorganised, bizarre, dirty etc... my reply to this youtuber is that if the streets are as chaotic as you claim, then stay at home rather than come and make a video to denigrate a country that welcomes you. i'd remind you that i'm not Malagasy but i think it's unfair that you should make a video with such a derogatory title. it would be preferable to choose softer words, such as the difficult situation in the streets of Tana.

  • @pddembowski

    @pddembowski

    2 ай бұрын

    chaotic is not a derogatory term, it means extremely busy and a somewhat disorganized. You are here to get offended by something..you couldn't find it in the video so you choose in inoffensive word in the title. Go be angry and terminally offended on someone else's channel.
