@@Nichwar19 - Once told my brother-in-law, who plays a rather good bass guitar and moonlighted doing so in local bars & such, that I really appreciated good bass in songs. He was just as surprised for the recognition as every other bass player. Poor underappreciated bastards.

My last year of high school, 1988, in Ohio, we'd pull into a cornfield in the middle of nowheres, with carloads of beer and ice, build a bonfire n I'd throw this cassette into the stereo n it would pretty much play through the entire night till morning, no one ever said, "Put something else on" EVER....

I have listened to this entire record more times than I could possibly count, this was the last song and I always looked at it as a hidden gem because it was one of the few that didn't get radio play but I absolutely loved it. I always appreciated this as their choice to finish an amazing album.

Everyone in the crowd screams "F**K OFF" at the appropriate time. Outstanding tune and always opens gigs.

The second half of Rocket Queen melts my heart every time I hear it.

The best/worst frontman

Keep in mind these guys were probably early 20's in 1987 when this album came out. Aside from blowing us all away with the amazing, heavily blues based, very rhythmic music, the band definitely had a "sleasey" kind of vibe and appeal. Very much a sex, drugs and rock & roll vibe from day one.

Agreed, which is exactly why they landed the opening slot for Motley Crue's "Girls, Girls, Girls" Tour! That was my first time seeing GnR, and my second Crue show...good times!!!

This is one of their best songs and the second half is one of the greatest transitions in rock. And Axl's voice here is in top form, pure and simple.

Always cracks me up how they manage to turn this song it into something beautiful & sweet at the end. Axl, the musical alchemist ☺️

I remember being a kid and forgetting about "that part" of the song and having to jump up and run to turn off my radio before my mom heard.

Rocket Queen was legendary for us 80"s Kids. Guns N Roses was the biggest band in the world at the time and my favorite band as a kid. This brings back so much nostalgia for me

Rocket Queen one of GnR's underrated classics. Has a boogie to it that I always loved

It's still slept on by the masses, in comparison to their bigger songs like Welcome to the Jungle and Sweet Child. I feel the same way about Nightrain. Man, that album had some great shit on it.

@DrumsnWeed420 There has been talk but it's never been recorded. Recorded he has a 5 octave and 2 1/2 notes - so almost a 6 -(F1-Bb6). Mike Patton beat his with a recorded 6 octave (D1-F7).

It was Adler's girlfriend. Axel was friends with her and Steven treated her like shit, plus he really wanted to put live sex in a song. Also he kept making the sound guy stop recording because she kept going over the top fake with it and he wanted it to be real.

I think you’ll be surprised with Axl’s voice if you continue to check out gnr. His natural voice is very low and there’s a good amount of songs he uses it on. Axl is best appreciated on live performances. He’d rank as a top 5 frontman for most people

@Noah Durham it’s so easy, mr brownstone, November rain. Live performances with The Rolling Stones Axl adjust his voice to match Jaggers on Salt of the earth. Live performances of knocking on heavens door. Dead Horse is great. Axl has a lot of range.

He can sing low too when he wants to.

The guitars working in tandem in this song is what makes it imo. Izzy's part is more of a lead while Slash bangs out the chords. Izzy's part is a lot more complicated to play and amazing. And yes, the moans are real. Steve Adler's GF and Axl did a recording that made it into the song.

They were one of the best bands I've ever seen live. Saw them on the tour for this album. They opened for The Cult and most of the crowd had no idea who they were. This is a great choice, a real banger!!

Yeah, I saw them touring for this first album too. They were opening up for Motley Crue on their Girls, Girls, Girls tour. We had to look up who they were before the show, but loved the copied tape we got ahold of and LOVED them. They were great, even though they only got a tiny part of the Motley Crue stage. Axl doing his snake dancing and Slash with his top hot on .... was a total trip ... so different to us (remember, NO internet back then, so we were floored, LOL). We were on the floor, like 10 feet from the stage at 16 years old. WAS AWESOME!!!!! And this is my favorite GNR song ... it is just such an incredible live song, such a jam. Check out their "Live at the Ritz '88" performance of this song to get a taste of how they were touring back then. It's definitely worth the watch if you've never seen them like that. That's what we saw live!!!! (Not at the Ritz, but during their tour).

Saw them open for The Cult at the Bronco Bowl in Dallas. We were into Appetite before it took off because we listened to ZROCK (out of Dallas) that was pretty much the first nationally syndicated rock station. They kicked ass opening for The Cult.

I was also sixteen when I saw them at my first concert. It was the use your illusion tour new years eve. Soundgarden opened for them and GNR played for 5 hours right through the new year. So amazing! everyone took turns showing off their skills with solos as the rest of the band left the stage to rest. It was an awesome display.

Saw velvet revolver and even though im 38 and waited to see them with most of the classic lineup, they still rocked the house. They are almost 60 and axl can still belt. They all rocked harder tha. Bands less tha half their age. My first cassette was "lies."

I must say Brad took it on this one.That smile was worth a million bucks.

@@chrisknoll1910 W. Axl Rose is the greatest singer and songwriter of all time - and One in a Million is one of the most genius and wonderful songs ever written. Completely misunderstood by lesser mortals. Thought crime and restrictions on what people can say are always wrong and a mistake.

I really hope they do "it's so easy" by Guns n' Roses so she can hear Axl's more natural voice, which is deep like his talking voice. I also think she thinks he's a different type of Diva than he is. He's dramatic and an ass, for sure but.... either way. It's so easy please!

Im sure Lex will have a totally different view if she listened to "My Michelle", for me it's one of the best songs on this album.

When I heard Axl's voice back in '87, I was polarized. GnR has been my favourite band for 35 years, and I finally got to see them a month ago in Wellington, New Zealand. I can die happy now. Great reaction channel, guys.

The breakdown at the end is life! This was the 1st song I learned on the drum set just because of that ending!!

Appetite blows away all of their other albums.

"Dont damn me" would be a great fallow up to this reaction... 😏

Awesome, I saw them in Miami for the reunion tour a couple years back, great show always.

I had this cassette tape in the late 80's. I played it so much, my cassette player ate it. I broken it open and unraveled it. It went from my room down the hallway around the living room and back to my room. I found the cut, used scotch tape at the splice, wound it back up put it back in the cassette and it played! except the one spot with the tape splice. epic album for sure!

Oh I definitely remember those days of the deck eating the cassettes- trying to stay out of the dang ditch, while scrambling to get it out of the deck ! 😅 Taking a pen or car key, ANYTHING..and rolling that sucker back in- Now when it would literally break into..😣 same, did everything to fix it and then have that one spot that was messed up... (and that’s only if it was fixable-) and then just keep on rockin! I remember Appetite for Destruction sold out in minutes- more than once- (that happened with MANY bands in the 80’s album dropped, as I’m sure you know) I’d even call and ask them to hold one for me-😁 it worked as long as you got a worker that remembered- Aw man, I miss the good ole days on so many levels/reasons-

Axl Rose is one of those rare I think there are seven octave singers. He is so versatile that when the lead singer from ACDC was remember he was sick or something after was able to fill in for him not his band perfect fit. This dude can sing his ass off you can play the piano you want to hear a song I believe he really shows his talent in is Breakdown off of use your Illusion 2

Deep cut, and oddly one of my favorites. Despite the incongruity of the song, one can sense the emotional commitment of the artists throughout the entirety. The production on this classic album is flawless.

civil war is a really good song you gotta hear.

This song always made me a little sad... because it meant the album was almost over! The tracks on Appetite for Destruction flowed so perfectly from beginning to end - it was an awesome ride and this song capped it all off beautifully. 💯

I saw GNR play this live. In the middle during the solo Slash extended the solo and rocked the F out for 10 minutes before bringing it back and going into that end part. I was in GNR Heaven! But this one is tied with "It's So Easy" as my favorite GNR song.

Please DON'T SKIP Mr Brownstone and Patience before moving to the Use Your Illusion songs. November Rain is arguably one of the best rock ballads of ALL TIME, but those two are REQUIRED LISTENING to prepare you for the next evolution of GNR.

Duff's bass guitar just gives me joy. Didn't always notice it so much when I was younger, but damn does it bang on the best songs of this album.

Gotta do My Michelle, that's the best G'N'R song of all time, my favorite anyway.

You guys definitely need to do their song “estranged” it really shows how dynamic they are as a band.

My favorite song by them hands down

I’m in my sixty’s and have went to several of their concerts….Best ever. Just look at the crowds they had back in those days. No auto tune , just damn good music!

Almost all of Appetite for Destruction is written from a street life view. The scene, the drugs, the attitude, way before this band made it big. Axl comes from a pretty crazy background and brought it to Hollywood ......along with Izzy (childhood friend) but at different times and finally creating GnR. All of these guys had that attitude from a very real place. "leave you strung out much too far". I remember hearing Welcome to the Jungle on a pirate radio station before it went big. Instantly fell in love with that music. The GnR attitude pretty much smoked the hair band scene at the time.

Thanks for doing this one, and the studio version! I love this song, played the whole album over and over in college, but this was one of the best

Brilliant song! Pure genius... Gunner's at their best! Brad absolutely loving it and Lex as always kicking it. Truly a definite work of art this song.

That smile that Lex was giving during the outro guitar solo is how I felt as a kid, its what made me wanna pick up a guitar and learn to play like Slash. Great vid reaction vid. Ur chemistry is awesome.

Very likely. It's often acknowledge as the best on the album by those familiar, and the best songs on the album were the ones they weren't allowed to play on the radio at the time.

Love that you guys don't always like the songs. Also loved the "four songs in one" interpretation! Been listening to this band all my life and never thought of that!

Slash is a master at melody and emotion. He CAN shred, and uses it where it's needed, but never rely on it.

The "two different bands" thing from Lex is a bit strange to me because I couldn´t possibly imagine Guns n Roses with any other singer. Axl belongs to the band like the band belongs to him.

You'll see whole new dimensions of this group when you get into the Illusion albums where they show a lot more range and get more into story telling. Also Slash starts getting multiple solos in a lot of songs.

The song is about a friend of the band. The two first verses are from her perspective and the last one is sung to her. Also, Lex has the best description of what sounds feel. Have seen a few of your videos. Keep up the good work!

I’d highly recommend the song “Patience”. I think Lex would like Axl’s voice better in that song.

One of GNR’s finest works. That Middle 8 when it goes instrumental w the guitar riff is exceptional. Lex, the sign of a great band is being able to sound different on every song.

Just saw them live last night. It was epic. Axl, slash and duff were all fantastic. I’ve waited years to see them. Love me some Guns and love me some axl ♥️

You gotta check out some live performances with them in the early days. Live in Tokyo ´92 or Live at the Ritz ´88. That´s really something! I´ll suggest 2 songs: Knocking on heaven´s door live at the Ritz and November Rain in Tokyo 🤘

One of the most epic outros. Showing their hard side and then their soft side. The rythm section in this is just top notch. Best incarnation of GNR. Too bad Steven was lost. Losing Izzy was a blow too,imo. big influence on the writing, so it changed the band too. Axl's voice is in falsetto. He can sing deep too.

I knew Brad would be a GNR fan. I think he feels the beat and they are drum heavy.

This song and Civil War are my favorites by GNR. Duff walkin' that bass. Had to subscribe. Keep goin'.

Y’all are tapping into the vibe of the mid 80’s…Hair Bands were prolific and the music was starting to get stale…G&R came out and punched everyone in the face and we LOVED it! It really was very different from everything else going on at the time.

Definitely in my Top 5 by these guys, and largely underrated. The end section after the tempo change is absolutely iconic.

The Slash and Myles Kennedy live versions are great! Especially that whole concert in Sydney, Australia where they do G-n-R, Vevet Revolver, and Slash and Myles songs! Check it out!

From memory, Rocket Queen was written for one of the females that was close to Axel. And it is a tribute as well as a message to her. From Axel. Letting her know he would always be there. And he might be young but not naïve

There is so much going on in the background of this song. Listening to it on a good pair of headphones is the best way to listen to Rocket Queen

When I was a kid I would blare this song in my house. I had to lower it way down the middle section to make sure I could listen to it in the future! It kinda reminds me of a relationship. The start is him saying how great he is, the middle is him being with the woman, the end is about it being over.
