Really good series, but it definitely feels like a missed opportunity that they aren't competing to be the "Jampion".

Does anyone else feel like “scope creep” might be too much for 24 hours? It feels hard for devs who didn’t place first to both improve their game based on feedback AND add new features. Would like to see some option for judges to use time to improve the game in 24 hours, and then after announce the Scope Creep.

I had a ton of fun with this jam! Salman's game was really cool! Glad we ended in a tie for round 2. I wish I could have seen what Barji would have done with "Protect It", I think his game would have worked excellently with it! Thanks so much for inviting me! I learned a lot from the design decisions I made! Thanks for all the positive energy in comments too! You guys rock!

One little tidbit that could use some work on these video is cutting out the repetition. Like we don't need to be reintroduced to our judges and contestants every week. While its fine for round 1, it's announced afterwards. We can remember what happened a week ago

one critic i have on this type of game jam is the bonus theme. mostly isnt a theme but more machanic you should put, in this the shop theme you cant put a incredible twist, is just buy or supermarket theme. the themes should be more like states (no consistent rules, one time, etc) or a type movement (slower is faster, uncontrable, etc). (english isnt my first lenguage so i dont know if there are errors)

I absolutely love this series, and I'm honestly bummed it doesn't seem seem to be getting as many views as your other stuff. If I may offer some criticism: I think way too much time is spend on explaining the format and terms used. Especially considering that this is the 8th(?) video of the show. I get that you probably want to make it as easy as possible to get into the show for new viewers, but on the flip-side it gets near obnoxious for returning viewers. I'll try offering a suggestion for improvement, just as an example: 2:16 - New viewers don't really need to know what "scope creep" means. All the need to know is "We call it the scope creep round." and "In real-world environments, we sometimes don't get to choose which changes are made to our game, and that's what we are simulating here." If you want to keep the definition of scope creep there, maybe the text could be in the background (like it already is, but without the voice-over). Obviously these are just suggestions for one specific example, since I already enjoy the products, but I think there's huge room for improvement here. Please keep making these ;)

Hey Vimlark!! I love this series. I had an idea: Before the scope creep, could there be a short period of time (24ish hours) where the contestants can polish (but NOT update) their games? That way they have a good foundation for the scope creep.

The problem was that, in his game, the goal is already to protect the trees from being destroyed by the saws, and therefore, his game kind of had the scope creep already added in by default.

  • @OffiGameWave

    1. Life happens but they shouldn't join if they have school and know that something is coming up where the time they need for the school increases :/ (I mean it's the end of the year of course school tskes more time from one) it makes the series less interesting to watch if basically everytime someone drops out. 2. Give them more time in the 2nd round so they can also work on some feedback and don't run out of time.

I understand why giving feedback can be a useful tool, but why don't we see all of the judges playing the games, whilst giving that feedback. You could even do a speedrunning thing where you race through the games, giving a higher intensive to create and play the ending of the games?

I'm really enjoying this series, but explaining who you, the contestants, and the judges are in EVERY video is a bit tedious... also recapping what the contestants have done AFTER the contestants have just explained what they did is unnecessary. I keep the introductions to a minimum (less than a minute for everyone, in total), and then after showing the competitors vids, jump straight into what the judges think.

  • @Schlumpfpirat

I started out liking the Game Jam Competition; but honestly it's only the 3rd series and it's already super repetitive with little to no content. Most of it is padding, having to explain the rules, judges etc over and over again. It's also super unreliable - 3rd series and already the 3rd person dropping out. What a shitshow.
