Most of Megadeth's songs are geo-political or apocalyptic in nature. In the older albums the Cold War was still going on so there was a lot of nuclear war stuff mixed in.

One of my favorite albums from MegaDeth... a very aggressive album!

Now that you reacted to "Set the World on Fire" you need to listen to both the first track "Into the Lungs of Hell" and this together( track 1 & 2 on the album) to grasp it's impact

The phrase 'Distorted figures walk the street...' refers to those people not close enough to be killed outright by the bomb but not far enough away to be survive unscathed. After the bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, many survives described seeing 'distorted figures', people who have survived the explosion but were badly burned wandering aimlessly on the street with the flesh hanging from their limbs.

I was 15 when this album came out - it's burned into my brain for being badass.

I was 15 when Peace sells saw the light, call me a nostalgic oldie but together with So far shows Megadeth at its peak of raw pure thrash at its best, those albums are milestones

Yes there is a driving vibe this song is right up next to another song called 502 which is about driving on California state highways and getting caught .. it was written at the same time As 502..

Been a while but pretty sure this was their opening song when I saw them in 88 . Met Dave and the band after at the hotel ! They were all cool ! They took 5 minutes of their time and talked to me and 4 buddy's ! One of them was into rocks a lot and gave Dave a couple which he was very interested or at least acted like . April 6th will be 33 years thanks to setlist Thanks Dave

I'll bet Dave was really into "rocks" in 1988 lol.

Song was called megadeth and he planned for his new band to be called Fallen Angel . He changed the name of the song because he ended up wanting to use it as the bands name after people said megadeth was a cooler name .

This album was the theme to my youth!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤟🏻

Since Fallout 3 raiders can be heard saying ‘First Mistake, Last Mistake’ in reference to Megadeth’s song “Holy Wars…”
