One of the greatest songs ever written. If that got you flustered, you should check out earlier Prince performances/songs like his performance of I Wanna Be Your Lover/Head from the Parade tour in Detroit (or, maybe you shouldn’t. Haha!). This performance is from the Sign O the Times concert film. I highly recommend that you check out the whole concert film. Another one of my favorites from this film is “Forever in My Life/It.” It’s another great song and the back up vocals actually come before his lead at some points. Imagine being a black man in 1987, being brave enough to say "if I was your girlfriend" -- AND RELEASE IT AS A SINGLE! He got mad shit for it. But that's Prince. He was never safe. The album version is full of pain and depth, more than the concert film version. You can really hear the heartbreak from his breakup with Wendy's sister in it. So good. ❤ Thanks for these! @Hannah for many of us Prince has no equal.... he could play every instrument, as well as the best who ever did it, sang like few others, and write everything not just for himself but for numerous artists most known and unknown. If you want to see him at the peak of his powers watch his films Purple Rain and Sign of the Times, and look for his clips of "america: he did in the EU, also his piano medley he did in concert again in the EU, as well as "It;s going to be a beautiful night" all which will make your mouth gape not just as HIM but how tight he had the entire group on stage. hope you go down the rabbit hole it will help you love music 10x more. Prince was a complicated guy. many years ago a critic described him as a man witt his d*** in one hand and the bible in the other.. it's a crude description but an interesting one

The way he was singing he was being one of his many characters he sang as. This one was Camille. A lot of his earlier stuff from 70s-90s was a little raunchy and sexual. One of my favorite performances was his Superbowl halftime show in 2007.

Prince is amazing 💜 Nobody has more talent 💜 😍 This song has been sampled a bunch most notably Jay-Z and Beyonce Bonnie and Clyde 2003. This is one of my top 5 fav Prince songs. For a change of pace you should check out Let's Go Crazy for sone rock/funk.

Prince was a Jesus freak who had one foot in the sexual and one foot in the sensual and became more conservative when he got older. I think he was always conservative at heart but knew that freakiness and sex would sell to get his star across. My favourite Prince songs at the moment are The Beautiful Ones and Little Red Corvette.
