He's singing about the ultimate relationship between a man and a woman. He is her lover and confidant, her best friend and her protector... even if he was the somebody who hurt her, he would still protect her from himself. Prince turned vulnerability into his strength.

He’s singing from the perspective of a man wanting his woman to confide in him how she does her female friends. He wants the closeness that she only shares with them. In other words, he wants to be her everything. It’s International Playa talk through and through.

Prince Super Bowl half time show is an absolute master piece. That is the best halftime show ever and it’s some of his best work. Towards the end it’s almost emotional. The backstory is amazing as well. Watch the whole thing. Don’t do part of it. It’s all or nothing. It builds. There’s never been another halftime show like it. When he was young his live shows were ridiculous. The dude could dance and he was all over the stage. His library of works could keep you busy for years. He’s changed a lot over the years. He’s always been cutting edge.

He asked if they could make it rain harder. What a showman. Epic. He even showcased other people's music. The GOAT

I saw Prince live in 1986, at Madison Square Garden. He was a once in a lifetime performer. His talent was indescribable and unique. On his first album, he played every instrument. Thank goodness he was so prolific. He left behind so much amazing music.

This song was about Prince ex girlfriend Susannah Melvoin who was actually the twin sister of revolution member Wendy Melvoin, he wrote this after their break up,and it is definitely from a male perspective.

This is from a concert movie named after his double album called "Sign O The Times" in 1987. Prince is a Gemini so male and female is who he is! You need to watch the whole movie it was great. You know he was competing with Michael Jackson who had released the album "Bad" i liked both albums. I loved both Michael and Prince. Prince is more musician than Michael. But they were Both Great. I was in High School when this came. You know they were both born in the midwest to domineering Musician Fathers! Michael was a child star that developed into a mega superstar! I just amired Prince a little more because of his musicianship and how he was with the women. But i cant understand what Michael went through being the bread winner in your family at such a young Age. It affect him a lot. They were both great artist that admired each other a lot! I was lucky to grow up with both these great entertainers that were influnced by James Brown. Who did a lot of splits in his career. You should check out James Brown doing "Night Train" on The T A M M I Show in the 1960's. Helleva a performance!!!!!

Also he did have some classical dance training. Whilst he was at school he practiced classical dance with the Minnesota Dance Theatre. He played at benefit concert in 1983 for them when they were in financial difficulties. That’s the concert he debuted many of the tracks from Purple Rain. Also during the lead up to Purple Rain the movie, himself and the cast took dancing lessons. Having said that though, I think he was a natural dancer. He’s got the perfect dancers body. His movements are so fluid. Despite his height, his body was always muscular and toned. He was athletic. He played basketball like a pro! I love his dancing. The moves were all his own, not highly choreographed. He just moved the way the music made him feel 💜 Finally that black cut out jumpsuit and waist chains are sexy as hell!! Great reaction. My take on the song is that it’s sung to a girl who said she didn’t want to be his girlfriend, so he’s singing that what if I was your girlfriend instead? But it’s Prince, so it’s kinda filthy [complimentary].

Prince was one of the greatest ever! 💜🎸💜 You should do a reaction to Prince’s “Free” from “1999” It’s from the time when the USSR was still an existential threat. It still gives me goosebumps. It’s sorta anti-woke in that it focuses on how America was truly free 🇺🇸 and no sense of victimhood. It’s intense but fundamentally patriotic and optimistic - especially when his vocals break away from the music in the finale.

It is kinda sad that you had not seen him dance before ... i would suggest you search out some videos of him dancing. (( "I'm A Star" )) .. but my recommendation for a vocal performance is ... "Sometimes It Snows In April" .. enjoy .. 💜💜

This song is in my Prince top 5 for sure. You trying to figure out the perspective is one of the reasons why. Technically, he’s singing it from the male perspective to his girlfriend because he wishes he could have the relationship she has with her best girlfriend (the girlfriend was Susannah Melvoin and her best friend is her twin sister Wendy who played guitar in Prince’s band The Revolution). It’s really a song about being jealous camouflaged as a love song. But, I’ve always thought Prince wanted this song to be interpreted by the listener. On the album, it’s sung in his “Camille” voice (a sped up version of his voice which sounds much more feminine). Also, he was really into Kate Bush and loved the song “Running Up that Hill” and the lyrics about making a deal with God to get him to swap Kate’s place with her man. He was inspired by that song when writing this one. So, all those questions you had about what it all meant were right on. The back up singer is the amazing Cat Glover. She is a dancer and was on the Sign O’ the Times and Lovesexy tours with Prince. Now, about his pirouette. Prince was a great dancer but was in so much pain as he got older that he couldn’t really go all out anymore. I read a quote from Susannah Melvoin about him asking her to teach him how to do a pirouette when they were walking around one night. Clearly, she taught him very well. 💜💜💜
