This reminds me of one time I was doing an fx type look where I used fx makeup to look like a pencil was stabbed into the bridge of my nose and that was early on when I didn't know what glues to use (and which not to use on your face) and I used super glue... so I had the pencil stuck to my nose for a little over a day.... and it wasn't close to halloween, so it wasn't as though I could pass that off. Later on doing fx makeup became my job... so go figure.

The stalking was really awkward because I took a slow mo so I could take a picture for my photography class but my crush walked right into it and faced the camera smiling perfectly. I drew him and my art teacher said it looked vaguely familiar. She hung it up in the class and my crush complimented on my art and to this day I don’t know if he did or didn’t know it was him. 🙈

At the same time I don't want to quit youtube because there is a potential here, even if its not as great as it used to be. :\

I am not happy with those teachers. When a child in my class says that they can’t draw, I always get up pictures of Picasso’s abstract art and ask my class what they think of it and then I bring up someone like Monet’s and get them to compare it. Art is art, it’s subjective and that’s what makes it amazing.

  • @OzyIllustrates

    @OzyIllustrates

    3 жыл бұрын

To the two who were mentioning copyright: You both are wrong. Here’s why: copyright also includes ideas and there is a legal addition that includes artistic ideas, it’s mostly known as creative ownership but there are loads of other terms associated with it. This has been around since the 1800s due to inventors. Inventors would have the idea first and if someone got to the copyright office (yes, there was and probably still is a physical office to apply for copyrights) before they did they would only have to prove that they came up with it first. It’s WICKED easier to prove ownership of ideas now especially given that creative ownership is shared on social media’s and everything you post - text, images and videos - is stored for extended periods of time. And you can be sued for thousands for creative theft, even jailed, no matter your age or even your geographic location. Cases involving fan art use this and other branches of copyright HEAVILY, and 9/10 times the artist who makes the fan art loses BIG TIME. Why? They don’t own any part of the creative process for that character. They didn’t have the idea for it. They didn’t sketch it, ink it, color it or publish it. They have zero to do with the character and therefore have no ownership or claim to it. These are real things that can and do happen. And if you mess with the wrong company, like Disney, someone like Chloe could even land in prison. Disney went after a daycare center for sticking up decals of their characters that the workers bought at a store. Short order, the daycare center took down the decals. It’s a scary world, even for artists lol

Artist confession: when I was 8-10 I traced pictures from books and took credit for them, and traced pictures of people. My parents thought I drew it myself so they encouraged me to be an artist and supported me. I don't trace anymore, because I find it harder than actually drawing the image. Still doing art and my parents still support me. And Inktober makes me depressed. Nice video

Confession: I have this friend who’s really good at everything I’m not good at, mainly school. I was sorta the art person in our friend group, that sounds so ridiculous, I liked doing it because that was a thing I was good at and it was ‘mine’. Which is so stupid because art is for everyone, but it just annoyed when she took it up, under my influence, and she like super good at it. Not much effort put into it, she’s just that good. I feel so guilty for thinking like this because she’s my friend and I want her to do whatever makes her happy and I always try to encourage her when she shows us her artwork.

I'm like your friend, a jack-of-all-trades. People say I have a quick grasp rate, a fast learner... But I noticed a lot of people weren't happy that I was an achiever with what they think is minimum effort for me, like I wasn't really trying hard. I ended up just floating around not really sticking with anything someone else claimed as theirs :( that's why I choose my friends very carefully too. I think you should talk to your friend. Just to let it out. Maybe instead of competition you can be a collaboration and bring each other up

I agree that talking to her about it would help a lot, in the meantime the best thing you can do is focus on your own art and practicing as much as you're able. Acknowledge that you like her art then think about how much you'd like to improve yours. Also it's always counterproductive to be jealous of someone else's art (it's natural to feel that way of course but) because each person's talents and styles are so different that there isn't any comparison to make aside from technical skill; which is something that comes from a dedication to practicing proper techniques and grasping the concepts so that you can incorporate them into your own art style. But seriously talk to her, a real friend will be understanding of your feelings

dude i literally had the exact same problem last year. my friend was getting really good at art and for her birthday she got a bunch of expensive art supplies. drawing was mainly *my* thing but everyone paid full attention to her and encouraged her while i just sat there burning in my own jealousy. she won an art award at my school later that year and i was still super jealous but didn’t want to be mean so i just shut up and went along with everyone else. at the start of this year i was kind of distant from her and didn’t really pay attention. in the past few months i noticed that my style is a lot different from hers and i learned that people would like it in a different way and just stopped comparing myself as there really wasn’t much to compare. i am so glad i have gotten over that and we’re super close now!

If you see the other artist, don’t be afraid to tell them how much you admired their work and that you think the only reason you won was your subject. Hopefully the other artist will chalk it up to a learning experience.

Then the next morning my mother woke me up telling me that my aunt called her asking her about the drawing... my mother got really upset because she thought that i was sad and felt locked... the drawing wasn’t what i felt i was smiling the whole time i was drawing... that just made me scared to draw anything for a very long while, and even when I went back to drawing I didn’t post them.

I also get scared of drawing dark things in my sketchbook because I'll fear that someone will pick it up and interpret it the wrong way, so i draw something, and even if I'm proud of it, I'll tear it up and throw it out.

Dear Cloe Rose, maybe you could make 2-3 episodes for one drawing. I mean 1st ep for the sketch, 2nd ep for colouring. This will make finishing a piece less stressful for you and I hope the viewers will look forward to watching the 2nd ep to see how the painting turned out. I hope.

ART CONFESSION!!! I still hate my boss from the time he blatantly TOUCHED my drawing while was reprimanding me for having my sketchbook open on my desk at work. I get that I probably should have put it away but he had no right to put his grubby little hands all over it. This was years ago but I still regularly put him in a chokehold in my head for it.

This is kinda confession. I keep switching between mediums, art styles, landscapes and people. I can’t focus on one because I keep seeing stuff like an artist drawing a really cute cartoon person and then I’m like I should draw people. Or I see someone using water color and I’m like ooooh thats beautiful I should try it. I’m not really good at anything because of that. I always switch around. If anyone has any advice I’d be happy to read it.

I struggle with the same thing ! I tried so many different mediums, the one that stood out to me are markers, and I'm getting better at them. My advice is just think about the medium that stands out to you mostly, if you like watercolours, then practice more, try different techniques. Or for instance look at the final piece, I chose markers because the finished piece looks like it's printed.

Tbh I have this trouble too! Honestly what I did to handle it is that I use more than one medium in a drawing. Also it's totally ok to work with more than one style, the skills that you learn with one will help you in the other styles as well! Idk if this helps, but just know that you aren't the only artists that has difficulties with this 💙

My art confession: I always want to improve because I'm not very good but whenever someone tries to give me constructive criticism I always take it personally even though I know I shouldn't. I've always felt bad about my artwork and myself even more and I've come so close to just quitting because I know I'll never be able to make a career for myself and I will never do anything worth while. I try to tell myself that if I keep working at my skills that I will improve and I have so many people telling me that I'm doing great and that by the time I am finished with high school (I'm a freshman) I will be even better but I still know that I will never be good enough no matter how hard I work and no matter what I do.

I was pretty terrible at art in highschool (I'm 29 now) and while I chose not to pursue a career in art, I do create often and am worlds better now than when I was younger. Practice is a top priority and understanding technical skills in art is extremely important, all I can say is that if you love art you should never stop and you should keep everything you make (even if you hate it) because every year you'll be able to look back and be amazed at how much better you can get over time- so don't give up and keep practicing 👍

A few years makes a big difference in artwork, you don’t need to draw for others, draw for yourself! Don’t compare yourself to other artists, compare yourself to yourself, look at old sketchbooks of yours and see how much you’ve improved, in three years, I’ve gone from drawing stick figures to knowing how to create flowers from my imagination. a single year can make such a huge difference in your artwork. If you haven’t found you style yet, then try learning realism and anatomy and color theory, your style will come to you! And your art WILL improve!!! It’s not a *if* it’s a *WILL*

I feel angry too and I feel really bad because of it. Especially when it seems that they put barely any effort into the art. It’s really hard to read all the comments they get that say “wow it’s amazing”, “I love you”, “your art is the best” “you have ungodly abilities” “you should have a million subscribers” when I get damn nothing. It’s just really hard to see your art and videos be totally unnoticed, it also doesn’t help with my crippling low self-esteem.

Some artist have a different problem. They make a really good drawing that took them for hours, then post it, they get nothing. The next day, they make a drawing that took them like one minute. The options I use are: Flyer 8.5x11” Card Stock Paper Two prints per page Cutting The quality and finish is beautiful and the more you order the cheaper it is. I can usually get 5.5x7.5” ish size prints for about $1 a print. I don’t sell enough work to need to spend money on an expensive printer so it works best for me. You order online and can pick up in a local store. If you don’t have one near they can ship them to you or you can use a local print store! Try not to give up, try to utilize social media and advertise your work there. It’s slow growing I know - I didn’t even have 100 followers on Instagram for 2 years. The only reason my instagram has grown at all is because I’ve advertised it on KZread where my biggest audience is. My high school art teacher was so amazingly supportive and uplifting and beautiful. She would always tell us the positive things about our pieces and then one critique to try to work on for the next piece. At the end of the year, we would have a party and she would hand out "noodle awards". Every single one of her students got a personalized award (it was a dry noodle on a colorful yarn necklace). For example, my award was the "Go Big or Go Home" award because I always chose the most difficult projects! She was the reason I kept going in art and I produced some of my most amazing pieces in her class!

I have two confessions: I claim I didn't start doing fan art until I was eleven, because I know a lot of people look down on that kind of thing. That's a huge lie. I used to sit in front of the television when I was eight or nine, divide my page up into six squares, and draw comics from what I was watching. There's literally three A3 pads of mostly Spongebob episodes tucked away in my wardrobe. (Oooooh, such a HUGE confession!) My second confession is from just an hour after you uploaded, coincidentally enough. For my school art portfolio, we have to have some kind of progression between the artworks, to show that we can develop ideas. At this point in the year I'm usually running out of ideas, so my teacher was helping come up with concepts for my last few pieces. She was looking over my work, saying things like "Oh, it looks like the girl in these paintings is lost... like she doesn't know where she wants to be in life... or she wants to float off into space..." She was seriously overthinking it (giving me some VERY good ideas, mind you), but I was just going along with what she said. Nah. I chose to paint a girl in space because I thought it looked cool.

It was "me time" where my creativity could flow unfettered just for pure enjoyment. Then when people started asking me to draw specific things for them it's like they were taking my hobby away from me because it was no longer something I wanted to do for the fun of it & a chore for the amusement of someone else.

Yeah, some of it is stealing and is wrong like what zuckerberg did to the twins with social media/FB or like what edison did to Tesla. But a lot of it is "drawing" from the credited knowledge of others. That's not stealing. That's coming up with an even better idea while still giving credit where credit is due. For example, it used to be that music artists gave credit to those who influenced them on their CDs or so on. I don't see how that would be any different with drawings or paintings or photography. You can "draw" on their knowledge to come up with your own style.

  • @BeardedBarley1

+Emma Comas -- Furthermore, could you imagine how many surreal style artists, who have been influenced by the original surreal artist (it's nearly three in the morning, so I can't remember his name right off hand at this point) who created the art form, would not have created their masterpieces if it were wrong to build/draw on this other's knowledge? But to say, like al gore did about the Internet, that you individually invented the style would be wrong. You can always say that many artists' styles influenced your style. That's the truth. And then if pressed, you can always point out who influenced you and even what particular pieces spoke to you in helping you develop your own kind of art.

I can relate to a lot of those confessions. I just started drawing again a year ago and I'm 35. My teachers were supportive, but my pears were harsh. I also can get jealous when I see others getting more attention or likes on Instagram that seem to do more simplistic work. Art is hard and personal. Do it because you love it, not to get attention. Thanks for this video.

There was this artist that I adored. I felt dread because I felt like their art style was the style that I truly wanted to become. AND I FELT TERRIBLE KAKSKS but after a few months and sketchbooks I completely forgotten I followed them until I saw their post then I realised I past that stage of feeling my art was beneath them and I actually felt I was just as good! I still compare my art to others but I try not to feel bad :>

People always say I'm good but I barely believe them anymore because I've grown up in an environment with a lot of fake people, and when I look back at my old art I just doubt people saying I'm good at it. And I see all my classmates being so good at art (and a lot of other general things like grades) I'm like insecure about myself drawing. I still enjoy it but it just makes my heart hurt a bit every time I draw? idk what's going on anymore, I'm not planning on giving up on art but I hope my insecurities about it will just go away

This is a wholesome video. I understand what you're saying about not being happy with your work when you're not giving yourself the time to put your full effort into it and then feeling bad about it. Im the same for different reasons, mines health related and I often either rush artwork just so I can finish something (as it takes me so long due to ill health) or because Im feeling so crappy I can't really make anything to it's full potential, it's not fun when you know you can do better ! I think it's good that you are changing the amount of drawing videos so that you can make pieces you are happy with without rushing yourself and fun art related videos in between are always fun. Good luck, I hope this way works out better for you ! Either way you're videos are always a joy to watch ^^

Confession: I feel like this may be a bit different than a lot of the other confessions, but whatever. Truth is, I HATE lazy artists. I have a number of people I know who say they want to be professional artists, but don’t want to put any of the work in in order to get there, and it always ticks me off. And then they’ll wonder how I’ve managed to progress and grow to the point I’m at currently. I’ve spent thousands of hours doing studies from photos/life, and always try to experiment in order to broaden my horizons. However, these people will complain about “having” to do this same stuff for a class etc. because it’s “boring”, and I secretly think to myself that they have no chance at becoming a professional if they don’t want to do the legwork & expect it to be given to them. Keep in mind: I’m not talking about hobbyists or people who got into art later on. I’m talking about people from my college/ online acquaintances who clearly want to go pro but have no drive. Art as a career is extremely hard to get into, and if you just expect to draw mediocre cartoons with no real effort or drive to improve anatomy, composition, color scheming etc. then I’m sorry, but you’ll get absolutely no where. However, if your drawings are currently mediocre but you’re going above & beyond to improve then this doesn’t apply to you!

I feel like I’m lucky because my art teacher this year was literally an ANGEL. Like I’ve never had such a good art teacher. All my previous art teachers always just criticized everyone’s artwork and told us how to get it to be better and told her specifically how to do it she didn’t give us any creative freedom but this teacher that I got this year gave us so much creative freedom like she told us to do a pointillism project and that’s it she just taught us how to do it she didn’t tell us what to do with it she gave us ideas though. She told us to do any object like a still life object maybe fruits maybe a pencil or anything that inspires us and to just look at it and whatever you see is what you put on the paper but with pointillism. Some peoples artwork was really bad to be honest but she still didn’t say anything. She didn’t bring down the people who didn’t have good at work but she brought up the people who had good artwork so like she complemented the people who had good artwork and for the people who had not too bad artwork she just said nice and moved on which was really nice and kind in my opinion that’s it bye LOL

You can pour months of time and every emotion in your body into a giant masterpiece and they'll be like "wow cool" and go on with life. It's wild. Best I can say is never take any commentary on your art seriously unless someone actually has constructive input to offer because elsewise it'll drive you nuts lol

She got me into 3D art, like we made insects out of wire, we have sewn bodyparts and lastly we made body extensions out of whatever we wanted. She is very supportive of everyone and once also said "Art is not about drawing realistically, it-s about developing your own visual language" or something along these lines. So now I'm also into making 3D art and also painting a little and I paint on almost everything I can find xD

My teacher told me he really liked it and I tried to tell him I didn’t create it but never got the chance. Then he put it in an art show that the rest of the world could see it and it would be in there for a month. To make it worse I won an award for it. My mom was proud and wanted to go see it up in the place it was in. I told her not to go. She was really upset about it. I felt bad but I didn’t want to go accept an award for something that wasn’t mine. My uncle also has a copy of it hanging in his office. I can’t stand it.

I have to put all the colour pencils behind now because its SO EASY to find a TON... usually I bin dive in the rubbish bin (not donation bin!) of charity shops. They throw it all out, so I take it.

Confession: a few years back i gave up on my art. It was because of these girls that drew way better than me and always made fun of my art. I just started getting back into it and i am still learning. I wish i had never stopped and not let their opinions stop me from pursuing my dream. I cant wait to get better.

Chloe, thank you so much for all the positive feedback to all the assumptions. Sometimes when I draw, I get angry and I feel that my work will never be as good as other people. This really lifted my spirits about drawing because you’re such a good artist and you’re helping me to be able to draw better. You’re also really funny and nice so it’s really enjoyable to watch your videos. Thank you for believing in me (well I mean not really) and all the other people that are watching you.
