    It's kind of true though. The people who can start with details and don't need a build-up for their works are rare to find. And often they are professionals who spent 30+ years on art in fulltime and passion already. Taking those few individuals as example would only make more people quit from frustration. So as basic as that advice is, it's not wrong.

    DRAW THE REST OF THE OWL. The only reason I'd say it's more beneficial to draw 10 minutes a day than 2 hours a week, is because if you dedicate time to drawing every day, it becomes a habit and you become more disciplined. I think it's very important to be more disciplined as an artist, because motivation will run out. But that's just my two cents!

  • @HopeTheThing

    @HopeTheThing

    I agree. The point of this was to emphasize the importance of frequency and repetition. If you spend 5-10 minutes sketching something every day, you'll learn and grow more than if you only do it once a week.

    I think it depends on how much time you have honestly. I work, go to school, cook dinner, make my fiancé lunch, and take care of our dog so a lot of my few time is taken up. If you have the time, practicing 10 minutes a Day is great, but if you can only do 2 hours a week that’s better than nothing.

    Its so weird when people say “practice for exactly 3 hours and 27 minutes every day!” Because when I draw I just do it until my hands hurt or when i don’t want to continue. I find trying to push myself to reach a time limit just causes frustration, and I can go away and come back later on to finish or start new pieces! I think people treat art as if it’s this methodical, perfect thing, but in reality it’s messy and stressful and fulfilling and fun and frustrating and a skill you need to build on just like any other activity. Love your videos, keep on creating ♡ !

    Please remember that some people need specific instructions, including stuff you may think is obvious. The group I know of off hand who often need this kind of thing is autistics. Where you could tell someone to dress however to meet you at the mall, for example, we may show up in our pajamas and unkempt, because that is how we are most comfortable. The "that is suitable for being in public," and everything that includes, may be obvious to allistics (non-autistics), but not to us

  • @GoldenEmotions

    It doesn't have to be boring. Going somewhere by bus? Take sketchbook and pen with you and sketch your surroundings while waiting for the bus. Sitting in a cafeteria/park/really wherever, take a few minutes to sketch what you find to look interesting. (quick works with paints are also possible, like color studies.) A great exercise with always new subjects - it really doesn't have to be boring or give a 'homework' feel. Doing a bit everyday doesn't mean to sit down at a desk and watch the clock for when one can stop again. That is just a poor way of using that advice. :)

    I love your videos and your art! You're such a talented artist and I think you are hilarious and keep up the amazing work!! I would say that I think drawing 10 minutes a day is very helpful when developing. I draw a small sketch every day for at least fifteen minutes and it has helped me grow my style and my understanding of anatomy and all sorts of stuff. I agree you shouldn't try and paint a big, elegant painting in under ten minutes. If you have something that's going to be big set time aside for it. But to get practice in art you can spend a few minutes a day sketching something. It doesn't have to be perfect and you don't have to rush yourself. That's just what I think however people are different and they may develop differently. Again, love your work and your videos! :)

    I love how proudly your copics are displayed, I just recently bought some alcohol based markers that were 75% off (not copics but reviews said are basically at the same level but there’s no brush tip) so like... I’m excited to use those instead of my crayola... that I added rubbing alcohol to to try and make them work like it has an alcohol base

    I'm a self taught artist, and when drawing bodies I just go for it. No lines and circles just straight for the visual outline. And because of this I simply CANNOT do the wire frame and shapes method. It gets in my way and confuses me on proportions and where my lines go. Complete clutter for me.

    Well, there’s this thing called the “two minute rule” that I found in a article, and the idea is that by just getting yourself to start and do something for two minutes, you will likely end up doing more. So, if you get yourself to draw, no matter how bad of a scribble it is, it may end up inspiring you to continue drawing more. I personally agree with this, as I tend to be reluctant to start something. That’s just my opinion though! Love your videos and sarcasm!

    10 minutes vs 2 hours depends on the media I think. I like to do quick watercolour paintings in an A5 sketchbook every day-ish. If I spend 2 hours on something I'll overwork it.

    4:04 Absolutely, only doing ten minutes a day means you're basically practicing sketching and rough drafting. you'll never get the practice of fully rendering something like you do when you spend much more time on it. you can do ten minutes a day on the same piece and eventually get to rendering but I think there's something meaningful in keeping the flow going from beginning to end.

    I really want you to follow those tutorials on drawing people. It would be so hilarious! I've tried both methods of drawing a couple of hours in one sitting once a week vs 10-15 mins a day, and it is more beneficial for me to do the daily. I think it depends on a lot of factors within yourself though, and there isn't a one size fits all approach. You just have to work out which method works for you. Xx

    Recently I started to sketch evryday for at least ten minutes. well, not sketching... I got some ideas how to improve from youtube. little exercises like practicing to draw straight lines, circles, ovals, trying to keep the same distance between lines etc. and i try to convince myself, that I already got an tiny little bit better. this is the minimum, if i have more time I try other things. I think its better than nothing :)
