Razors SL Navy Aggressive Inline Skate // First Impressions

Спорт

The Razors SL Navy is the newest skate from Razors. Back when I started skating again, I got a pair of the Razors SL3, but I sold them before I started doing reviews. So now I'm finally skating the SL again to see if I can remember how they felt.
Thanks to my supporters on Patreon for helping to fund these skates: / backtoblading

    I know what you mean about the heel pads. I tried them and they leaned so far forward that the front wheels would dig into the ground and wouldn't roll properly. As soon as I removed the heel pads, the problem went away and the wheels rolled fine! Then again, that also says a lot about my posture when I blade!

    Hey man, just found these videos and love how you are articulating my exact thoughts regarding being an 'old man' skater! I'm 35 and just getting back into it. I've got some SL's I bought a few years ago but only used a couple of times and also got some cults recently from eBay (as I used to ride Razor Shima's back in the day). Think I'll get some Reign V3 liners to use in both skates as the stock liners are pretty uncomfortable! Would be interested to know your thoughts/review of the new Razor Shift 2 also to see if that's a good one for future consideration...you can also easily switch to massive 125mm wheels for recreational skating, so seem really interesting! Thanks for the motivation to get back out there and get laughed at by kids on scooters! 🤣

    Is there a big difference for grinding compared with the Razors Shift? Which soulplate is more stable? I ask this because I had problems while trying negative grinds with the Razors Shift. One thing is, that the negative space is to narrow and also the soulplate was not stable enough on the negative side in my opinion (first version of Shift-soulplate). So it would be interesting for me if you have felt some differences between these two soulplates? Thanks in advance for your short answer!

    Nice review, did you have any issues with the anti-rockers not spinning in the flt3 frames? My son has a set of razor cult coppers on which the anti-rockers would not spin at all. I was able to swap out the metal frame inserts with some that were about 1mm thinner, that gave them enough room to spin. Before they wouldn't spin even with the axle bolt completely lose. The ftl2 frames I have didn't do this, but they don't have the metal inserts either. Just wondering if it was only my set or if it's all of them.

  • @HOllyBOni

    @HOllyBOni

    4 жыл бұрын

    The antis not spinning is not a bad thing. The hole in those antis will wear out over time, they will spin, but they will start to rattle like crazy. It's super annoying. When I had these antis I glued those metal spacers in them, they could spin just a bit, but most importantly they didn't rattle. (I eventually switched to bigger antis with bearings)

  • @BacktoBlading

    @BacktoBlading

    Yes, they don’t spin for me either. I think that’s expected but it’s not my preference. Using actual urethane antirocker wheels is ideal.

    great review, thank you. And good timing,...i bought the same skates a week ago and tested them yesterday for the first one. I have never skated a SL before but earlier in my youth I skated the cult for years. The SL feels similar, soul-tricks and other grinds works very well and the boat is also flexible. But i have changed the SL-Cuff for the Razors Loca Cuff with V-cut. Soon I will buy a Reign V3 Liner, should be perfect with the new cuff. But i don´t like the wheels and the frame,....fast changes of direction and tight turns are therefore very difficult. But maybe i'm just not used to anti-rocker anymore ^^ My consideration is to swap the frame for a GC Mega with Flat Setup,....59 or 64mm? I started skating again a month ago after almost 15 years of break. I entered with the USD Aeon Sam Crofts but would like to additionally have a Razors, but the feeling is quite different. Keep on blading, you have made great progress. greets from germany

    Do you have an opportunity to try these a size down with a slim liner such as an Intuition? I’m really curious how the power transfer and feel changes. Are the shock absorbers replaceable? Can you try a smaller one and see if the lean becomes acceptable? Also, how’s the backslide groove lock versus the 908’s and the VII’s?

  • @HOllyBOni

    @HOllyBOni

    4 жыл бұрын

    The problem with a smaller heel pad is that the skates were designed with the height of the stock heel pad in mind. If you put in a slimmer one you also change how the skates fit, you end up with much more room in the instep area.

    Razors all day 🤘🏻. Good honest review man. Agreed with everything you said haha. I myself have gotten so use to the bullet profile style wheels that the flat wheels feel so unmaneuverable. The liners aren’t trash...but they have too many pressure points for someone needing a wider toe box. I swapped my wheels, bearings and to a Reign V2 liner. Couldn’t be happier. I personally love Ground Control frames, but that is pretty true that absolutely nobody enjoys their version of anti-rockers. I immediately replace the them with my oooooooold Senate urethane anit-rockers from about 15 years ago. Not sure how they are still alive. I would tell anyone than urethane middle wheels is always a better riding experience than plastic. Otherwise you are better off with a freestyle frame. Thank you Back to Blading, because I really am stuck between USD VII and the Razors SL to skate next. I won't consider it a fair comparison though, until you use your 50/50 balance frames and wheels that you are more comfortable in.

    my personal recommendation is that you like myself are getting old and staying to one skate for a bit is gonna make you a better skater. Try and get better at skating rather than one night standing every skate for a sec. no disrespect but you cant know a skate till ya run it back so to speak. very much appreciate the support for our industry !

    I appreciate the feedback, but I’m not in this to get better. I skate pretty well with skates I like. What I really love doing is sharing my experience with different skates.
