The biggest thing for every catcher is to cleanly catch the ball! Don't overthink it. With that being said the Rawlings CM33 is gonna be my go to catchers mitt until something tops it.

So I went out and got a Sanchez 33.5 HOH glove for my son and followed your video on box break ins. It took a long time to get it catchable but it is an amazing glove. He loves it. Sounds amazing when it pops. Cannot thank you enough for your videos and advice. Keep up the great work! Thanks !

We have a 33 A2000 DPCM and in time it opens up like the HOH has a great pop to it. Mind you I did send it out to get the palm adhesive removed I do that with every glove/mitt it's a cheaper way to fool you into thinking the stiffness is the leather and somehow better when all it does is make break in harder and rip the internals apart. It makes a world of difference with break in, feel, and playability so that might be the difference with ours. Did the same with our Hyper Shell 34" HOH mitt (legit HOH NOT R2G) and got rid of the X laces in the web and went with the doubled up "I" lace pattern also great pop sound and feel. I'd say pop is the same on both if you actually catch it in the pocket but the Rawlings has a little more margin of error to make the pop sound decent on balls not fully in the pocket. Both are very comfy the HOH might fit average to slightly bigger hands/fingers better than the A2000 which is great for average to slightly smaller hands. I like the toe on the HOH a little better (seems more defined) than the on A2000. Have no doubt both are equally as durable. If you get R2G HOH gloves and mitts durability is definitely going to be an issue the leather is legit HOH but due to cheaper/softer internals like they use on the cheaper lower level gloves and mitts which makes it easier to break in but they charge the normal HOH price for it which sucks because it's not a "legit" HOH due to that. PS the "age" words like doink-age has to go it doesn't flow and seems forced lol

I LOATHE Rawlings catchers mitts. I am team Wilson for life and have been good with the All Star version I was recently breaking in for kids. Growing up I tried Mizuno and Rawlings and had significant thumb issues when using those. In high school when we started having RHP with more inside run on 2 seamers my thumb was getting eaten alive until I switched to Wilson models. Wilson or All Star. Box break. job done.

For the all star having doinkage, and the dilemma of traditional or two in the ring, I wear my catchers mitt two in the ring and my index finger on the finger pad to get best of both worlds. It is a lot easier for me on my catchers mitt to stretch my index finger to the finger pad then to stretch my index to the finger pad on my DP15 (yes I know the dp15 doesn’t have a finger pad because it is a Wilson with dual welting)

A2000 catchers mitt is really durable. We purchased my sons used with alot of use on it though cared for well. He is 4 seasons in himself with it and we just cleaned and conditioned it this week and no signs of leather wearing out. I am sure if it was catching 90mph the last 4 years might be different. We have an All Star 3100 on the way and will break that in so it is ready for next season and his A2000 will be his back up glove. Also I was able to purchase several years ago at a super price a new Mizuno GMP 200J Stamped numbered limited ediiton glove. It will be a gift to him down the road. Though it may take the rest of his life to break in..LOL

Hello! I need your advice on something! Just got a new catchers mitt and have been breaking it in for about a week now. I can open and close it fairly well and it is a Rawlings HoH 34. Only problem I’m having with it is that my palm is pushing on where the hinges are and creating sort of a ridge. How can I stop this from happening?

I’m a catcher and at high levels we are taught to have one in pinky, two in ring, and one middle(which is thought to be the best catchers grip position). I’m looking for a new catchers mitt for this season and was thinking either all star or Rawlings

It’s preference I guess…I’ve had both and prefer Rawlings. I’ve had more luck with durability and like the leather a little better. They say Wilson is better for smaller hands, but I have small hands and wear 2 in pink with Rawlings perfect. For what it’s worth, it just seems like most middle IFs I know wear Wilson. Corners trend Rawlings

Whoa! How can you do a KZread glove break in without putting a clown flare on the thumb of the glove? The internet has taught us that for a ball to go into the pocket of a glove it must be funneled in with clown flares! Doesnt matter if its a catchers mitt you need to redo the tests after flaring them.
