    I work at a Dick’s sporting goods where we do glove steamings and I run the team sports department and I totally have seen what you talked about where people doing the break in don’t really know much about how to do so. Now that I took over the department I do most if not all of them when I’m there and I really make sure that everyone that does them when I’m not has knowledge of what they are doing to the glove and why to ensure a proper break in but I know that not all locations do this. I wish the company cared more about quality than quantity when it comes to breaking in gloves and everyone could get proper training.

    What’s the difference between rolling the heel portion like you did on your glove and the wrap? Won’t rolling the heel back and forth collapse the heel instead of keeping it stiff for 2 hinges? Need to get my glove broken in and worried about messing up the 2 hinges points. Btw love the content!!

  • @imperialsith7823

  • @jonnyt16

    @jonnyt16

    6 ай бұрын

    @stratmaster8 Don't be afraid to roll the heel, it will not ruin your hinge points. Just don't keep doing it constantly forever. I roll my heel about a dozen times for about 10-20 seconds each time when I break in a glove. All that does is loosen the fibers in the leather slightly. When you wrap a glove, it keeps the heel in that awkward position for hours. Big difference.

  • @ballgloveking

    @ballgloveking

    6 ай бұрын

    When you are rolling you are in control so you would have to roll for a few hours straight to really mess it up. When you wrap it you don’t get to choose where those hinges are so it often has an odd form

    I will invert my glove a few times for about 5 minutes each time right at the beginning of a new glove break in. This does not ruin your glove or affect its shape in any way. It's a great way to loosen the fibers in the leather a little bit. And if Shigeaki Aso does it then you know it's legit and won't hurt your glove.
