Yeah Fr under rated channel
Just bought a HOH wing tip 11.75". Broke in over the last couple days and it's fitting amazing. Perfect for 3B slopitch as I prefer a smaller glove.
I think Rawlings like 20ish years ago were still figuring out the pro preferred line. So they actually used really high end materials for the whole glove until they figured them out to know where they needed high end leather and where they didn't. These days they kind of skip out in a lot of areas unfortunately because they know what they are doing haha. But, I wonder if mine is any different. I can lend it to yuh if you want
Still using my pro preferred first baseman's glove from 2011. But it was 250ish back then and it feels great still
I have a HoH hyper shell infield glove and a pro preferred catcher’s mitt, and I really like both. HoH are way easy to break in but the pro preferred is more confortable and feels better. I think they are both very good glove.

I find Pro Preferred is easier to break in but that may just be because its more comfortable from the beginning

In my experience HOH is a rock and PP less of a rock, but much better feel which is most important. But then again some say Rawlings horween leather is better than both which I just ordered, so we’ll see! Lol.
So I literally just bought a pro preferred 2 days ago and I found this channel because I was searching “how to use a mallet to break in a glove”. Lol this channel is so awesome. I went in wanting an HOH and ended up with a Pro. Quite honestly I’m still scared to beat the hell out of it with my mallet

Glad you found the channel bro! I hear people say that all the time though lol, just hit it hard. I promise it won’t break haha
What are your thoughts on the hyper shell? You say you’re not a big fan of it, can you explain?
Thoughts on reviewing a new Akadema Torino infielder model? I actually used an Akadema all though my college career and it was great. Doesn’t seem like anybody in the glove world reviews them
Never had a pro preferred but I have a HOH Griffey model from 1994 and it’s still usable and I have another exact model from the mid 2000’s and it’s still solid. Good stuff man.

HOHs from 2005 and prior are pretty equal to PPs….HOHs now are shit….atleast the retail ones
Wild the price of these bad boys now. Swear my heart of the hides were $150ish back in early 2000s and pro preferred were $250ish. My Primo was like $400ish and that’s basically a pro preferred now. Inflation a mother!
If you like Rawlings, and the finger stoles are to wide, try the Rawlings 314. Fits more like a Wilson, but a Rawlings
Will you have a yth size in those shorts? Cuz I love them 😍
Hey Chris, love your vid’s. Do you think I could get away with a 11.75’ for playing outfield? I’m inf/of and not sure what size to get.
@baileysmith4744
Жыл бұрын
Depends on what level you are playing at. If youre still under 18 years old you really only need the 1 glove and it doesnt matter the size. In college though its probably best to get a bigger glove (maybe something cheaper like a GG Elite if its not a regular position)
Have you tried to break in catchers mitts or recommend them????
Do you know which of the HOH leathers aren’t oil infused and are the most durable?
Lesss gooo!!! I have been waiting for this!!!

Yes sir 💪
Just ordered a custom HOH I’m antsy to get it going TY!
i firmly believe the best glove you can have (for infield) is a pro preferred back and palm liner, with the heart of the hide palm. for outfield its all pro preferred, and for catching its all preference (i like my HOH YM4 but i may have gotten lucky with the palm liner being so comfortable)
@rickfrank7934
Жыл бұрын
why would you want a heavier glove that won't last as long?
@baileysmith4744
Жыл бұрын
@Rick Frank . The weight difference is hard to notice and for outfield i think comfort is very important, and durability is hardly something you notice either because both gloves will last you a lifetime if you take care of it. Id much rather a comfortable glove that lasts 20 years of my 20 year playing career than a glove that is harder to break in, doesnt feel as nice, and is still stiff after im done playing, especially when for the outfield a loose glove is much better for the hand
I got a gold glove elite and gotta say it’s really good for high school level! I am going into freshman year and the only this I notice is that it may need a re-lace because it is a little to loose

My goal with my 7yo is to teach him to love the game and to appreciate practicing and improving. It seems doubtful that gaining an "edge" via equipment will make him a better player in the long run. We have a Mizuno Prospect Select glove, thanks to Play It Again Sports ($20, like new). Those gloves seem to have decent leather that should hold up well but break in easily.
Also love the shorts

id recommend the Rawlings Heart of the Hide TT2 in 11.5”. you could also go with a Mizuno Pro Select 11.5 and then choose whatever pocket depth you like most for all the positions you play (most guys like the shallow for SS and 2B, but regular-deep for 3B). just make sure you break in the glove properly and take care of your glove
Would you recommend the Sarna glove oil?
@ballgloveking

I generally recommend using their glove conditioner rather than the oil, but yes 👍
Just a random question. On your 44 gloves, do you get pro stiffness, or standard stiffness.

@@baileysmith4744how about for Rawlings? 70% or 90%?
@baileysmith4744
10 ай бұрын
@bgiesbrecht8774 . For Rawlings i'd go for standard just because they dont take away from the quality, they just do more or less work in the factory, whereas 44 Pro uses different stiffeners depending on the options you select. Just stay away from R2G and Rawlings will be fine. R2G isnt bad but for the same price as their stiff HOH, its just not worth getting because they dont last anywhere near as long

How do you close a glove because I have bubbles
@baileysmith4744
Жыл бұрын
Bubbles are caused by you closing the glove too early in the break-in stage (i saw Chris say this to someone else's comment earlier). Using a weight or mallet on the palm can get rid of bubbles, and then just copy Chris' break-in from there. Usually forcing the glove closed is what causes bubbles because the leather is taking the easiest way to break tension as you apply pressure, which is usually by folding in all different directions like a zig-zag pattern

it shouldnt make a difference. when breaking in the glove you have to get the glove used to closing around your hand, and it wont do that by not wearing it and using it. there are many big leaguers with monstrous hands using pro preferred gloves

@@baileysmith4744 I don’t disagree with you. Off the shelf the PP’s require more break in work for my hand to feel comfortable wearing it. Where the HOTH’s just seem to fit me better automatically. do not beat on a glove that is an older glove. i had a wilson pitchers glove. i do not remember when i bought it, a very long time ago. i beat on it with the end of a ball bat and it broke the leather ties between the pinky finger and the index finger. do not try doing that on an older glove. i had to send it to a guy to replace the leather ties i broke. good gloves are not cheap anymore. be careful what you try on an older glove.

If you want a heavy speeder-upper: Use your 200lbs ahem your 178 lbs and your heels. To get the initial creases going i manually fold right along the line I want, then stand on it in my stocking feet for a while. puts them in with semi permanence pretty quick. Same with crushing cardboard boxes, don't bother with the removing the tape and folding them up, just start using your weight and crush them. Let the Earth do the work. Durability is most important, you can make a super hard thick thick leather still pliable and easy to use, so go for the steer leather.
