Hi everyone, I am Jon with ZUMA concepts. I wanted to make a video to help people who have purchased or are about to purchase a Ravin Crossbow. I covered some key points to making the long-range shots with this piece of equipment.
In this video I covered:
Set up
Scope selection
Arrow selection (Build your own)
Broad heads
Helpful equipment for setup
Target selection
Maintenance
AND
Achieving confidence in taking long shots and maintaining that confidence

    You might not believe this but I just watched your video and I have done almost exactly down to the same products as you! Except I just wanted arrows in the same hole out to60 yards Zombie slayers work excellent and at half the price of Ravin arrows!! Like you I do all my own work on my X-bows. And I have an extra set of strings for them all. At all times. Just started working with my R500,having trouble getting new black Eagle arrows for it-brass nock inserts are the issue. I don’t trust aluminum. Can’t wait to find more of your videos!! We are definitely on the same page!!😊

    How you been? I have to share a little info with you. I have been shooting my r26 r20 and R29X with Ravin luminocks. Like you I build my own arrows from the zombie slayer.001. However when I shot them out of my R29X after about 6 shots the lumenocks split in half and sheared my string-sounds like a rifle going off. After 3 times I believe Ravin should let the people know that just like the R500 you should not use the lumenocks with their faster X- bows!! You know how much $ it is for a set of strings and cables. Also like you I have a bow press. Best investment I ever made. The Ravin company is telling me that I need to replace the limbs every time a string blows up! I think there getting a little money hungry. Any way I just wanted to pass that info on to you. Thanks. Mike

If I had the r29 and experienced anything I would definitely have shared it on here. I enjoy helping out but unfortunately I do not have the funds to keep getting the latest gear to test out. Anyway, have a good one and be safe.

    Just now seeing this and very glad to see the arrow builds details... thanks!! Question.... do you cut the 1" nock bushing shorter or use it full length? And the Ravin lighted nocks fall within the +/- .255" ID and +/- .330" OD? If I do the math right, I can build 6 arrows for $147 ($276 for a dozen; nock inserts come in a 12 pack only).... much better than the $110 for only 3 Ravin arrows!! Great content.... thanks again!

    Did you calculate per arrow? Also, are you using lighted nocks? You might be looking at 6 zombies vs 3 ravins. The nocks were triple increased recently and I’m not sure why. But if you use standard nocks you should be cheaper per arrow.

  • @garyhouser3533

    @@garyhouser3533 I just checked it all out again and I’m still coming up with a $39 savings on 6 arrows. It is $109 before shipping on 6 Ravin arrows. = to $18 per arrow. It is $54 free shipping on 6 zombies. 12 bushings $18 before shipping. Divide that by 12 = $1.50 per bushing and $9 for 6. 12 nocks are $14 free shipping. Divide that by 12 = to $1.16 per nock and $7.50 per 6 So 1 zombie cost $11.66. Grand total for 6 zombies would be $69.96.

    You know what bud for the money and they've got them on sale right now you can get the Sig scope with the rangefinder and that would make it even easier you could just arrange the animal the dot lights up and move where you need it to be and then your kids all they have to do is put the dot on the deer and shoot you don't even have to tell him how far away it is you just range it it it it adjusts the scope automatically I've got two of them onto different crossbows and they work great and they got a leveling device built into the school for if your Canton to the left or to the right it will tell you so that way you know you've got the crossbow perfectly straight I mean I know they were expensive when they first come out but they're a lot cheaper now

    For the Black Eagle Zombie Slayer arrows, do you order blanks and then build them up or do you order the fletched arrows and then change out the bushing insert for your Ravin?

  • @zumaconcepts1200

    @zumaconcepts1200

    Жыл бұрын

    I personally buy the fletched arrows and put the bushing in. The only reason I would build my own is to match the weight 100% to the Ravin preset sight measurements. If you use the HHA sight or something similar where you can fine tune the sight adjustments the weight won’t impact your setup because you would re-sight your bow to the new arrow flight and your good to go. Hopefully this is helpful, if not let me know and I will try to explain a little further. Thanks for watching.

    No I didn’t notice any string jump. I haven’t tested them in a foam target yet but interestingly I did happen to hit a 2x4 with one at 80 yards and it opened perfectly. Lol oops. Anyway I know that isn’t a good representation of anything but thought I would entertain you with that information. I did do a deployment test on chickens and I need to do one on beef with hide. I plan to post the video as soon as it is complete. These videos are a hobby so unfortunately paying bills comes first and I have been incredibly busy with work. Ravin arrows are outrageous in price and they are. Trying their best to make you buy their arrows. You can have custom arrows built or build them yourself but they threaten you with canceling your warranty if you do. Same applies to their string they rip you off there also and their crossbows are known for eating strings. I don't shoot at any animals out past 40 yards even with my R29X but I love to shoot longer target distances as it helps to improve my closeup accuracy when hunt game animals. I shoot both Rage and Sevr broadheads with great accuracy with both out to my maximum distance I will shoot deer at. Also I use to shoot a broadhead called the punchcutter back in the 1980's that had no exposed blades and a tip that pushed in when it made contact with a deer. They flew like darts also.

    How do you install the lumenok into zombie slayers? That lighted nock will the exceed the factory weight of 400 gr. Do you practice with lumenok? Battery drain?

  • @zumaconcepts1200

    @zumaconcepts1200

    2 жыл бұрын

    To install the lumenok you would follow the same steps as a standard nock. Stat it in to the bushing and use a hard surface to push it into position. That should turn the nock on at that point just pull it out slightly as you would after a shot till the nock light turns off. The weight of the nock dose not impact the arrow weight it adds to the over all weight of the arrow setup. As long as you sight your bow in with the lumenock and arrow you intend to hunt with it will be good to go. Yes, I do practice with the lumenok installed. As I stated in the video it is best practice to use the exact same setup on the rang as you use in the field for 100% confidence.

    60$ is for 6 arrowS. 20$ is for 12 bushings. The nocks were 40$ for a 3 pack. That was the savings. But I just looked and the price is jacked up to 100$ for 3 like you stated. Prior to the increase it was 13$ savings per arrow. I’m not sure why they hiked the price. Maybe demand… here is a link to eBay for the 40$ ones but only 3 packs left at this price. www.ebay.com/itm/304200767632 If you go without the lighted nocks it is still a savings for the premium option. The way I explain to build with the standard nock is 154$ per dozen or 12.80$ per arrow. The ravens are 259$ per dozen with the standard nock or 21$ per arrow. Sorry. I will continue to look into it and provide an update with what I find. Thanks for writing.
