    Good job! I too built one this year that is mobile. My dimensions inside is 5ft wide x 9.6ft long x 6ft tall. The only other since it is moveable and I have internet at home, I'm sending a wireless single to the mobile box blind and there is internet. My inverter is 3000w., with 2 deep cycle batteries, with the same setup mounted on top solar panels.

    I was just going through my subscriptions and I just want to say that there is no way to judge reaction. Seriously. Depending on the deer.anxiety and the overall situation,no body can predict what a deer will do. If you are walking down a hometown road versus a Chicago neighborhood road after dark….what is your mindset? What is your reaction time to a “possible “threat? Every single hunting adventure is going to be different. C’mon, please don’t start telling people how far they can ethically kill a deer or anything for that matter! My God , you are trying to be god. Shame on you

    Wow, you really made a mountain out of an ant hill there didn’t you sir. The data was collected from an article written about compound bows and I use the exact same information to make the comparison to Bose then versus Bose now. Don’t shoot the messenger. I just read the article and translated to equipment being used now. Further, I’m not telling anyone to shoot deer at any range that’s their choice. Thanks for watching. Have a good one.

    I'm glad to see this. I'm thinking more of using it as a stationary camera since there don't seem to be any reasonable choices out there. I was just thinking of putting up the target and placing it in a position to view that's close to the target to spot. At first I was thinking how convenient it would be to fly it out to the target but then I realized that I would be walking out to set up the target in the first place. I'd think the battery would have to last a pretty long time considering there would be no flight involved. It would be really hard to beat a $200 2k or 4k camera with a transmitting distance of at least 600 yards.

    Firenock makes a bunch of different knocks and each one of those is made specifically for a different application which includes different bows and crossbows different string sizes and different arrow sizes. I would advise you to contact Firenock and Dorge will get back to you promptly with the reason why You need whatever specific you’re supposed to use on your crossbow and string set up. Depending on the crossbow set up, Dorge actually does recommend a loser fitting knock sometimes and if you ask him, he will explain why he actually works with and knows personally a lot of crossbow manufacturers.

    I use a standard compound bow but found the XV version of thorns are better at deploying. I like your tinkering idea but wonder about rain or how scotch tape would hold up if it got wet. If you get a chance try RTV Silicon gasket. The red high heat stuff is what I’ve been using. I just squeeze it in the hole and it comes out the other side, wipe, and let dry(about a hour). Silicon is super slippery so even tho i haven’t had a clogging problem it will slide by anyways. It’s waterproof too.

    If you want to practice with the thorns, I find even with the practice clip installed, the blades would still deploy on the third or fourth shot every time (I shoot the ravin 29x, so maybe overkill for the broadhead). To remedy this, I sacrificed a rift broadhead and superglued the blades in. It works perfectly and use it before every hunt to make sure everything is flying the way it should. Hundreds of shots and still going strong. Trying the tape on my next hunt.

    Great video! I’m glad you took the time to explore different options for opening this broadhead. I experimented with these about 8 months ago with Scotch tape and it worked flawlessly. I also cut some thin rubber bands into 3/8” lengths and wedged between the blade and ferrule. I made sure they stayed straight and just slightly inside the ferrule to prevent them from sticking out. I couldn’t tell the difference in the two methods. I sharpened the three edges on the rip tip hoping to aid in penetration with sharper edges. I’m not a huge mechanical guy, but like the concept of the broadhead. I decided on these mostly because of the blade design. I can’t imagine them breaking or snapping off easily. Again, thanks for great work!

    Shot a nice buck last night…first hunt this year actually. Used the thorn rift with the black pin (which is harder rubber than the orange) and it made a 2” gash from in to out. Deer dropped within 20 yards. Another testament to the effectiveness of the pins. I wish I could post a picture in the comments. The impact is so violent, the blades pop out immediately. It isn’t a slow deploy like your pull test! There are forces at play you can’t recreate with that pull test. I may try the tape when I run out of pins…if anything because it’s cheaper. God Bess ya man.

  • @zumaconcepts1200
    @zumaconcepts120010 ай бұрын

    Yeah, for sure. I never had a single issue shooting deer with it. It wasn’t until I tried to test it on a chicken that I realize there was an opportunity for error. Knowing what I know now about the tape, it is definitely the way to go without having to buy any new rubber pins. I only made a video because someone challenged me and said that it didn’t open up on a deer once. I never had the issue so I wanted to prove them wrong and that’s how this test came to light. Chickens don’t wear deer hide. Shoot the thorn with the rubber pin (inserted correctly) at deer hide with a chicken behind it. Again, you can’t make a deployment conclusion based on soft chicken flesh.
