    The crossbow went together quickly and the general fit and finish is a bit above what I expected for the price. kzread.infoUgkx5B43Qabqt1HedUJyfEqxiwBCfaooIH52 The adjustable stock is a little loose. I had an issue when I tried to cock the bow for the first time with the safety on. The string set in the trap box, held just enough to build up enough tension to rip the string out of my hands when it let go. No significant damage was done, and once I got it sighted in, I wrecked a couple bolts by sending one straight down the shaft of the first. I'm holding ~2" groups at around 50 yards, and I'm not an expert by any means. Best part is that they supply all the replacements parts you may ever need

    The problem that I’ve seen with any broad head is if you sight your bow in with field points your point of impact is going to change with the broad head. I’ve seen this more in fixed blade heads but it is still common with mechanical heads as well. I keep hearing people say field point accuracy but that doesn’t mean it’s going to have the same point of impact as a field point.

    I completely agree with you; mechanical broadheads seem to fly somewhat better than fixed blades- you just have to find that sweet spot in what grain works best.

    I cannot find the Killzone Crossbow broad heads in 125 grain, can you send me a link to this broad head? I checked the kill zone website and this model is not an option of their site. Is this still the mode you recommend for Ravin R20 crossbows?

    How are the killzones out of an Excalibur as they deliver more initial force than any compound crossbow? Do they open prematurely? I have tested rage and they open prematurely out of my Excalibur. Also one last question are you using the crossbow version of the killzones or the regular ones?

  • @Crossbowexperts

    Hi Chad, we do not recommend Rage for the higher power Excalibur crossbows for that exact reason. The Killzone are excellent because they are fully mechanical. We've tested them out of a 405 with no problems. I would only use the crossbow version out of the Excalibur Crossbows.

    There was a 30 year study conducted on a naval base near the Potomac some time ago. The extensive study showed that the use of mechanical broadheads significantly increased hunters chances of successfully recovering their deer compared to fixed broadheads. This was particularly true with crossbows.

    Hi Alan, We typically recommend shooting a heavier broad head if you're going to shoot fixed blades. 125gr. or 150gr. are pretty common places to start. On average you are correct fixed blades do tend to fly less consistent than mechanical broad heads, but a fixed blade can fly just as good if you play with it a little bit!

    I’ve always shot 100 grain but that was with my compound. I’ve heard that going with a 125 grain would be better as far as accuracy for a cross bow with faster speeds. What’s your opinion? Thanks again for the feed back. I’m new to cross bows.

  • @Crossbowexperts

    @Crossbowexperts

    @@alankaster835 There is nothing wrong with 100gr. as long as you are comfortable with how they fly for you! Putting the extra 25 or 50 grains up front on the broad-head can often times help fix inconsistencies in accuracy, especially with higher speed crossbows.

    This is a TRUE story...before I had my own xbow I was using my dads. He had Spitfires. I shot a buck and the Spitfire bounced off of the deer...NO JOKE! Then I walked into my local archery shop and started talking to a staff member. Told him I was using Spitfire. BEFORE (I repeat BEFORE!) I told him about my experience, he told me the Spitfires have a reputation for bouncing off deer! Needless to say I never will use Spitfire again! AGAIN, this was MY experience!!!

  • @Crossbowexperts

    Thanks for the story. The important thing is to use a broadhead you're comfortable with. Here's a TRUE story for you. Last year we had a guy return a package of broadheads(we'll call it BRAND A). He said he lost a deer because of it and all of his buddies said they were terrible. He walked out the door with BRAND B because his buddies said those were way better. Less than an hour later another guy walked in with a package of BRAND B broadheads and literally had the same story. His buddies said BRAND B were terrible and he should be using BRAND A. The point is when it comes to broadheads everyone has an opinion and many of those opinions are based off of one experience or heresay from another person. I have used Killzone for years on deer and always recommend them to my customers and I constantly have people buying Killzones again and again from me. I'm guessing they're working for them! I really like Spitfires for turkeys and TenPoint actually recommends Spitfire... so they can't be that bad! But as the video states.... use the broadheads you're most comfortable with. That is my best advice for getting the best results with your broadheads. - Chris

    Always shoot the same weight practice tip as you do Broadhead. THEN SHOOT YOUR BROADHEAD. Prepare to buy a pack just for practice! Or use one as the practice but you have to shoot broadheads to sight in and assure your confidence in the accuracy is there. I shoot 150 grain Single Bevel Cut Throats from Rocky Mountain Gear. All one piece steel from tip to screw end. Unbelievably accurate - Unbelievably Strong and almost indestructible. Resharpen them before use. And put the best edge on them as possible. With an extra weighted insert you can get up to 600+ grain total - the bow shoots 350+ with that weight. I also use a HHA Optimizer dial with a Red Dot Scope. Un believable - use a yardage marker and have fun!

    have you not noticed that mechanical heads can not hold up to fast crossbows? i tried LOTS of mechanicals out of my matrix 355 and they ALL broke blades on my 3d deer target....forcing me to shoot fixed heads, but its all good cuz fixed blades fly perfect from the matrix. if you have been lucky enough to not loose all your mechanical blades on a deer..... you certainly will before too long. i am not a mechanical head hater, in fact thats all i used to use with my vertical bows and never had a problem with probably over 100 deer i killed with them, but a fast crossbow is a whole different ball game.
