Due to shoulder injuries to the bow of them, they have moved on from their compound bows to Crossbows. Tim and Joel review the Ravin R10 Crossbow. These bows come in camo or non-camo options. We will be reviewing the Camo version. We hope you enjoy the episode.

Also an add to the episode. I had my Ravin R10 restrung at Bass Pro. I noticed a small "nick" on one of the cams. I had not seen it prior to dropping it off, but no matter it easily could have been there. I decided better to be safe than sorry, lets replace it. Ravin put it under warranty and replaced both cams free of charge. Stating it was under warranty work. Another great Ravin story. Good hunting all.
This was really informative. I broke my neck on 9/18 and thankfully I should have a full recovery. I bought an r10 to use during WI gun/archery season this year due to limited impact at the shoulder/neck. Thank you for the thorough review based on your experiences. It was extremely valuable to me.

Chris you are welcome and speedy recovery from the 2 Dumb Asses
I have been shooting a Centerpoint Mercenary for 2 years and have just stepped up to an R10. I am a longtime bow hunter who also has shoulder issues. When I am at my stand location the first thing I do is remove the quiver. I have taken 11 deer with the Centerpoint and never lost one. Also have not taken a shot at game over 45 yards. .

Rob let us know what you think of the R10. We appreciate the comment.
New to crossbows. This was a great review of product in and of itself, but what was REALLY great is it made understand more about what are critical features to consider. THANKS guys.

I just purchased a R29 on sale for just a bit more than the total price you stated. I use to use a PSE crossbow. The pro I believe you missed with these ravins vs most other crossbows is the forward heaviness of other crossbows. The ravin's are well balanced. This DA does agrees with you on the quiver & crank placement is terrible. I designed and 3d printed a plate in the stock to mount the crank there with the button down. Easy to install and remove the crank now. Will use my old quiver on my backpack vs that thingy. The only cheap part of the setup. I understand for that stealth staking look. But even then I would want it on my pack for less forward weight.

Zin appreciate the comments. You are quite correct it is very well balanced and slightly forward. Would love it if you would share your modifications via picture to our e-mail. Love the idea.
You guys rock!

It is a great crossbow
I’ve had the R10 for several years with an upgraded Hawke scope. It has been a wonderful bow. It’s durable, super accurate and has all the speed & power for any big game situation in North America. My R10 was clocking 410 routinely. I’ve taken deer with it and the performance is like a death ray! By the way, I do not believe that you or anyone else has to justify why they shoot a crossbow. I’ve taken deer with a recurve and I’ve shot plenty of compounds. I like crossbows because they’re awesome! I’m not saying I am disabled or if I was 100%, I would use vertical bow. No way! There’s nothing wrong with me choosing crossbow. I prefer them.

Douglas great to hear that. Tim and I both believe that the R10 will be our last Crossbow we will own..... Any insight on changing the strings? Have you done it yet?

We live in Iowa, and you can only legally shoot a crossbow if you have a written doctor's note classifying that you have a disability and not able to use a regular bow. You then need to register with the Iowa DNR to have lifetime cross bow status. I appreciate your comments above!

You know you made a lot of really good points I have got a couple of those Raven r10 crossbows and they are really nice the only thing that I wish would be better on them would be warranty because once you think about $1,500 into a crossbow in my opinion I think it should have a lifetime warranty it shouldn't have the same 5-year warranty like a center point or a 5-year warranty like a Barnett it's a lot nicer crossbow and I think they should stand behind it longer I mean any Mission crossbow has a lifetime warranty I just wish Raven did I would never I don't care what brand of crossbow it is like the art Raven R500 and the 10.505 and all those high dollar crossbows I would never spend that kind of money with a 5-year warranty never it's just not worth it they want to arm and a leg for these crossbows but they don't want to give you a good warranty so really at the end of actually the mission crossbow at the end of the day is a better deal because they give you a lifetime warranty for the money

Don, I cannot argue that a longer warranty would be nice. I also feel that the prices of some of these crossbows is bonkers, however they wouldn't keep making them if people stopped purchasing them. Good Ole supply and demand. We greatly appreciate your comments!
You know what this was a really good video but I can't believe you guys would Nick pick on the lighted nocks and the quiver most people don't even hunt with the quiver on the crossbow I have a Ravin r10 and when I get up in the tree I take the quiver comes off so it's never in my way
Just got a Ravin R10 read the instructions and watched the Videos . Still can't get this to fire.

HuntPat- I would ask you to check 2 items: 1.) Make sure the trigger mechanism is completely tethered back by the crank. You should hear and feel a click and the clutch will start to slip if you continue to crank. ( Be careful not to over crank) 2.) Once cocked make sure your bolt is securely inserted into the trigger mechanism. This takes some force and you will hear and feel a click. I am willing to bet this is the issue and I hope these suggestions resolve your issue. We would love to hear back on what you find.
Don’t like you can’t lean it on the ground on the front end when loaded, the broadhead will hit the ground.

Brian, valid point. I think every crossbow has some pluses and negatives. I am 3 years of hunting with my R10 and I love the size, accuracy and reliability!
I take quiver off problem solved
