i was watching "Twang and Bang" he had some of those arrow tips for the bullet arrows, he was firing from his crossbow and it wasn't hitting hard enough to set off the bullet. seems like it needs alot of pressure to make the bullet go off in those tips

One thing I learned from archery of all sorts is that no matter how colorful that fletching is, if you shoot at an angle into grass, you ain’t getting that arrow back.

He's more than a little self-effacing. But I'll tell you what - in a "zombie apocalypse" scenario, I'd rather have a vet around than a "human" specialist or a dentist or someone like that. Vets are essentially GPs who also do surgery, and mammals are mammals. A vet is a "jack-of-all-trades" sort of doctor in a lot of ways.

I was thinking there's a high probability that the bullet goes off in the bow and yup. That was surprisingly a huge risk taken he usually takes a little more caution and I'm actually surprised that wasn't way worse and glad he didn't get hurt. I would've bet that would've hurt someone pretty bad!

If I was 40 years younger, I feel like you and I would have hung out as kids, and done a whole bunch of this crazy stuff. 12Ga shell on the end of a bolt. Awesome. It reminds me of when we used to bury 12Ga shells in a hole that we dug into a tree and then used the firing cap as the target for our 22s, from 100 feet away. There was no doubt about when you hit the target.

After that intro matt will have to change the name to DemonitizationRanch.

Things need to be one of, or a combination of, 4 things to stop bullets. Either REALLY hard like steels or ceramics, or having strength in numbers, like Kevlar and other woven materials, really thick like bullet proof polymers, or really thick like a ream of paper. This plastic/foam you're speaking of is neither. It also was not designed to be bullet proof. Look at how thick the plastic at the bank is. (About 2¼"/30mm). Granted needing to be optically clear hinders its ability to be thin.

For the record I've been into crossbows for many years and on crossbow nation and it's okay to call it an arrow cuz it is an arrow a bolt is actually an old medieval projectile without fletching.
