They shouldn't call it a crossbow. I mean, they've done away with the cross and the bow. They should call it a boltcaster.

@@thaphreak there’s no functional application of a crossbow. Despite what you guys may say, it has literally 0 practical application compared to a firearm. Except maybe that you could potentially make one yourself in the wild, which obviously is not a relevant point to the discussion of motorized crossbows. However crossbows and bows and such are cool, because you are firing the projectile nothing but your own strength. If you take that away by adding a motor and batteries and crap then the nothing novel or cool about it anymore imo. If your only goal is fire a projectile the easiest most efficient way possible, just get a gun. I’ve shot bows and arrows, I’ve shot guns. I know they aren’t the same thing (duh) my point is just that I don’t see the purpose of a motorized crossbow when guns exist. Your taking away the interesting cool part of the bow.

  • @mymilkshake001

@@willw5868 I get where you're coming from in the fact that guns are much more effective and practical but IMO saying "there's no functional application" isn't true as crossbows and bows have plenty of uses when it comes to hunting. Firing a gun will clear out any wild animal in like a 2 mile radius. Yeah you can use a suppressor but they'll never be whisper quiet on anything larger than a handgun or submachine gun with specialized subsonic rounds. A bow or crossbow won't have that same "HEY EVERYONE, THERE WAS A LOUD ASS NOISE HERE SO LET'S ALL SCATTER AND GO IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS THROUGHOUT THE FOREST" effect on animals. Which is why I mentioned the sound a motor might have in my original comment.

Using it like a normal crossbow, by using the foot to hold it down, while pumping with hands. He said it was easy to cok it, when the device was inserted, so it shouldn't be too hard to improve it. I went to their site and that cross bow is now $2,500 which includes all he has shown us. They say its made for hunting, but you wouldn't use those few arrows for hunting as they are only practice arrows. What he has not shown us, is if that Bolt-Caster fire broad-heads, and if it can then you'll need a arrow scabbard which can hold them and still be able to be attached to Bolt Caster.

I love the smart, innovative, slim design but it looks like somewhat of a hassle to re-cock it...If they could somehow incorporate the crank internally and make it faster I would give them my money. At the moment the more traditional limb design is still a better hunting option IMO..Thank you for showing us this creative bow though!

Yea, I think the compact design of the newer reverse limb crossbows are a lot more practical for hunting especially still hunting or hunting from a blind, but the long power stroke gives this crossbow a much longer range than a standard crossbow as the longer arrows will have more stability. It might be a decent option for hunting out west because of that feature...

4473021 you’d need a battery for that and batteries get heavy. You’d need something with a lot of torque also and it’ll be hard to get something light and compact with a battery and it’s already 13 lbs

It's innovative, but totally non-practical and overpriced... Engineering-wise, it needs 4 perfectly balanced springs so it is never going to be as accurate as a limb crossbow either, especially as the 4 individual springs age and things start to get unbalanced.. At 13 pounds and over a minute to load (with the most awkward crank to attach and remove and a stupid set of safety pliers- really?), poorly designed stock, it's about the least practical device I've ever seen.. It's not even that "cool" looking to make up for all its shortcomings.. And at 350 fps, it's also totally unimpressive given its very long power stroke: there are many faster bows out there, and they all accomplish their faster speeds in lighter packages with shorter power strokes and can also do it with heavier arrows as well. You couldn't pay me to use this contraption..

Hi joerg, what's the weight distribution like? Most crossbows are notoriously front-heavy, I'm wondering how it compares to a standard or reverse draw crossbow

I'll take the RX Adder.. you might get more power out of this beast, but you'd get 12 bolts off the RX before the F1 is reloaded.

If this had another internal pully for reloading, connected to a foldable pull-out handle with more leverage then this would be 10 times better, you could maybe even fit some form of magazine in there or at least a bolt reserve maybe. Could even have a foldable foot saddle at the front and then have two arms pop out to pull the string back, it might have too much tension to pull it without a winder though. Definitely need to advance how we reload them.
