Man, Dexter Holland, Mr. phd. in molecular biology, and his frosted tips. Takes me all the way back to high school. Thanks for this, guys, brightened up my day.

The frontmen of most bands have gone on to suicide. Or drug overdose. Meanwhile, the frontmen of The Offspring has gone on to earn his PhD. And make several groundbreaking discoveries to finally cure HIV. Now how cool is that?
The thing with The Offspring's they have their radio play songs which are very pop sounding. But then the very next song on the album is heavy AF
Definitely a heavy nostalgia hit there. Now that song will be stuck in my head all damn day!
I love this song! It's freaking hilarious, this is a fun song to listen to when cruising around town. I don't think you guys have done "Self Esteem" from this same album, "Self Esteem" is my favorite Offspring song and the bassline is killer (it's fun to play as well). More Offspring please, great reaction as usual guys! 🤘🤘🤙🤙

@@BigHomieSteveTheMetalHead all good big homie! I had the SMASH tape for my Sony Walkman on the school bus ride to elementary school 😂 played the hell out of it but I never got into Americana that heavy..I had become a teen then and was exploring weed and girls and the only music we listened to then was TRL driven singles and Eminem hahaha

@@BigHomieSteveTheMetalHead I def played the hell outta the Offspring Smash album. Def a great album, but I didn’t listen to this album much at all. I guess I was rebellious to the TRL type music by then. I was 13 when the Smash album came out, so I grew out of the “popular” music stuff by the time Americana came out. I was more into the post grunge/nu metal genre that was surfacing.
Fun fact… lead singer Dexter Holland is a PHD in Microbiology and he’s a punk rock, not bad for a man in his late 50s 👍🏻 I absolutely love this band so much nostalgia with these songs

Good morning ☀️. “ Self Esteem” is a good one to check out.
In the late nineties this was a song that needed to be Written
Malibu's Most Wanted? Man, you guys are hitting me with nostalgia today lol. Great movie, this song would be perfect for that soundtrack. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
At the beginning it’s the beginning of Def Leppard’s ROCK OF AGES.
I had some friends from Ukraine in school when this came out. This was the only song they knew English to 😂😂😂 I'll always associate this song with their accent with 'give it to me baby" 😂😂😂
An interesting fact about the performance of this song at Woodstock 99. They actually brought the dude in the video out on stage when they performed this song. Check it out. its hilarious.
I was thinking about you guys reacting to this on my way home from work. Now you have to listen to the Wierd Al song, pretty fly for a rabbi.
I have a handful of reaction groups I've subscribed to but I love your guys appreciation for all music. Always look forward to u guys!

This was the first album I ever bought with my own money back in the day. I got it at K-Mart!!
This song and video was one of the greatest when it came out.
legendary band.-
Thank you! Super fun guys! ☺️✌️🎶
The Offspring bring back so many good childhood memories 😊
just be who you are: wont get you a lot of friends but it will get you the right kind of friends.
I was in the Air Force in 93. And we had MTV playing on the barracks TV, back when MTV is doing videos. The Offspring had videos on back then
As I always say, if you didn't go to school with this guy, you WERE this guy. Lol
Man, we covered this song my junior yr at the talent show lol....Memories KIM DRACULA - MAKE ME FAMOUS
saw these dudes at the very 1st MTV extreme sports and music show. The og XGames
Great video today guys. I love the Acid Bath t-shirt.

Bloody love The Offspring. Thank you for doing this! Check out "Bad Habit" or "Something to Believe In" from the album "Smash" to hear some of their more raw punk roots. Or just do the whole album! It's epic 😀

Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it.
Humorous songs like this are great.
man saw them for free at sofi stadium last year. They still get down. So many hits. 🔥
Morning fellas! Haha I had forgotten about this song! Never seen the video til now lol. Gonna have this song in my head all day at work LOL! Have an awesome day!❤️🤓
The kids are alright is a banger. Video is trippy
I was in marching band and we played this song at all the football games.
Really under appreciated band, way more talented than they’re given credit for.
Thanks to The Offspring whenever I need to count something down to a start I instinctively use "uno dos tres cuatro cinco cinco seis".
Absolutely love you guys!
The album was released in late 98. But I swear I thought this song was out in 96. But it was EVERYWHERE when it was released. If you called a radio station to request a song, they would say “please don’t say Pretty Fly for a White Guy” lol.
Love the Acid Bath T-shirt! My husband took me on a first date to an Acid Bath concert because he was working with them. Now mind you this was after we had been friends for 12 years, but it was our first date after all. Been married 25 yrs now 😮🎉❤
It was released in 98 yes. Great song.

I was in high school in the 90s, and, I remember when posers like this became a thing. In my day, he'd have been wearing all Cross Colours gear, and, a Starter jacket, but, same idea.
First punk band to have a platinum record- Smash
Another Great song!! Suggestion for next song....Red Hot Chili Peppers - Walkabout
In 1988 a group of musicians from different punk/industrial bands (Ministry, Fugazi, KMFDM, Revolting Cocks, Pigface, Minor Threat, Lard) came together and made 1 album with only 6 songs on it. They called themselves Pailhead. They didn't tour or anything, they just made the 1 album (Trait) and while the general public didn't know about them, all the other musicians out there did; and the influence that they had on all the 90s punk bands was huge. Pailhead played a major role in shaping the sound of the 90s.
Here's a couple of songs from bands/ people you've probably never heard of: Authority Zero: rattlin bog Johnny Horton: Rock Island line
In 2017, Dexter Holland the vocalist of the band, attained a PhD in molecular biology (Thesis on HIV Research). And he's a licensed pilot.
Favorite band outside of Metal, you need to react to something from the smash album, it was what put them on the map P.S. Please react to Rotting Christ
Maybe a dip into their earlier music wouldn't hurt. Going to suggest 'Self Esteem' off their 94 album 'Smash'.
Still remember when this came out 🤟you guys should check out why dont you get a job and the kids arent Alright from the late 90 Offsprings
The Acid Bath shirt!
Gone Away is an epic by these guys you need to listen to.
You guys listen to all the music I love and I'm enjoying your reactions to it.
Totally dig this song. Good beat and fun.
This is bringing back all the high school memories. Please react to Akala FITB ❤️
Well, you've done 2 songs from 1998's Americana, and you've recognized both songs. Smash was their breakout album in 1994 and Ixnay on the Hombre was a great follow up in 1997. Some recommendations from those are: Come out and Play Self Esteem Gotta Get Away Bad Habit Gone Away I Choose All I Want
Guitar in this is killer! Head bang to this one anytime! Hell yeah! Great reaction!🎸❤🎸
Good morning! I forgot how much I liked this song, LOL. Listen to Self Esteem...that one coincided with a bad break-up...I don't normally recommend songs, but if you want another The Offspring, try it, please!
You guys should check out the singles from the album SMASH. It broke them out into mainstream bigtime with hits like Self Esteem and Bad Habit and Come Out and Play.
This reminds me of the trailer of one of my favorite movies Idle Hands
I think maybe you are thinking of the oldies song "Play that funky music white boy" Cuz that's what came to my mind when you said you've been listening since you were a little kid.
I remember watching this music video for the very first time back in I think 1996. I was in fourth grade I think.
Love Offspring, their first album is definitely a banger
that globetrotters question had me think...could Shaq be a globetrotter since he thinks the earth is flat? o.O
Quite interesting that you're coming up with this right now. Here in Europe there's actually a big discussion going on about so-called cultural appropriation. It was triggered by an incident in Switzerland some weeks ago where a band of local white guys got banned from stage because they had dreadlocks and played reggae songs and some (also white) guys in the audience complained about it, said that they felt uncomfortable about this because of this cultural appropriation thing, the promoter gave in, stopped the concert and banned them from stage. My opinion on this is that it's a scandal and it should have never happened. But since it happened there have been discussion all over the European press and amongs people on social network. There was an interview by a Swiss magazine with a black woman who stated that hip hop never got its worldwide popularity before white guys were succesful with it, that Elvis Presley stole his music from black people and more accusations like that. Honestly, I cannot understand what's going on anymore. Wasn't this always musical evolution and were not always musicians around the globe inspired by others no matter which skin color they have or had ? Elvis himself was white trash, grew up poor, he never stole anything from anyone, he actually was a supporter of cancelling the racial barriers and restrictions. And the hip hop pioneeers in their time who were already known for their music were (black) bands like Sugarhill Gang, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five or Afrika Bambaataa and the Soulsonic Force, not the Beastie Boys or Eminem. I really don't know what's going on here at this time and how people are ticking. Bands like AC/DC or Led Zeppelin could also be accused of cultural appropriation then since they had blues elements in their music which derived from black musicians. I really hope that you won't get any of this BS in the states or in other countries. Sure, I think it's important to be sensitive considering cultural identity, but this is way too much right now and it's dangerous, because we shouldn't limit or restrict art which music is a form of.

I’ve heard the same sort of stuff in the US as well. I can sort of see the other point of view but I don’t agree with it. Music is an art form like painting and sculpting. I don’t remember hearing anything about cultural appropriation when styles in those mediums were adopted or adapted (I’m sure someone complained at some point but I never heard of it)

Basically, if you respect the culture and are inspired by the music, it is your true art and should be seen as nothing but art that you are apart of and are making as an artist in that specific art field. If you remake the same music in your own style, still titled the same and directly linked to the, "creator," then you pay them for rights and uphold their craft and your own as equals. Art influences art. Life influences life. We stand on the shoulders of giants and those giants stand on the shoulders of giants ad infinitum. Simple, we humans just complicate things because of our own biases.
@Objectified

The entire idea of "cultural appropriation" is a straight slayer of creativity and runs directly counter to the way that humans evolve, iterate, and develop new sprouts from existing branches of culture, art, and tech.

Too late, it's already polluting the US. It's absurd, pointless and divisive when music is something that should bring us all together.
Metal Church Metal Church mannn!!🤟
Holly shit!! Pretty fly for a white guy, can't wait. Good stuff smoke beranger. Yeee
Do yourself a favor and watch Weird Al’s cover of this song. Watch his video that goes with it too. Perfect!
I am a HUGE ACIDBATH fan, love the shirt. They from "DOWN DA BAYOU," from NOLA/ New Orleans. I saw them when they were performing around town in the early 90's. THEY WERE GREAT, had a local/ statewide fan base/ following. Great performers, we had high hopes/ expectations for them
I was a massive fan of The Offspring back in the day! Ixnay on the Hombre and Americana were always in my stereo - good times 😁
Fuck me it's been 25 years almost since i heard this one for the first time. I knew about them since the Smash album but it was right here i became a really big fan. Saw them live for the first time a couple of year's ago and they still got it! The Ricki Lake sentence is so funny now when people that are 20 years old never saw the series.
Check out "Bad Habit" by them
The best offspring songs IMO are "Gone Away" "Bad Habit", "Mota", and "Change the World" make sure you guys check one of these. Keep up the good work guys
Wow, the W word that rhymes with bigger. I haven't used or heard that word in at least 20 years. I guess it really is that easy to stop using a word. 🤔
As A GenXer, it seems like people are way more judgey today than back in the day. There appears to be way more rules and gatekeepers no then ever before. But if you are experiencing something different in your daily lives, I'm super glad. I like hearing that things may not stink as much as I am afraid they do.
Y'all ought to do some of their older material. Bad Habit from the album Smash is awesome!!
I feel White and Nerdy by Weird Al is a natural sequel to this song. My top 3 Offspring songs are Want you Bad, The Kids Aren't Alright, and Bad Habit. Also, did you ever think you were gonna get a Ricky Lake reference in 2022???
A great band always has a sense of humor, but do address issues keep up the great work
The Offspring were a good band. They have several great songs honestly.
Also, would like to throw out a few suggestions of bands I’ve never seen y’all react to that would be interesting to see what y’all think. New Years Day -Nocturnal The Pretty Reckless - And So It Went The Nearly Deads - Revenge September Mourning - Dirty
God, it's been a long time...
Dexter has said in interviews that some of their songs are just light and fun and goofy because what's the point of being a rock star if you're serious all the time? They get flak sometimes from various communities saying they sold out or are pandering to the pop fans, but when they're on stage performing the songs you can see it. They enjoy it, as they should IMO.
Ignition is probably one of their best albums. Should check out dirty magic and LAPD on that album
and now Dexter is helping to cure cancer. good dude!
I would like to see y’all do some weird Al or Ray Steven’s.
Fun song
Nice one guys! That guy reminds me of a Eminem wannabe... This song is cringy but classic. When you dive into Thd Offspring, u hear amazing riffing and songs in general! The Future is Now. thats one of many great tunes by them

That German (?) opening line of the song is taken from Def Leppard's "Rock of Ages".

Wow I clicked fast for this one hehehe ahah
Hit That and Why Don't You Get A Job? are two good, fun songs from The Offspring
They are a bit out of place but lately last 5 years The Offspring has been doing sets at Metal festivals like Knotfest. They must be cool to hangout with. If you ever do Self Esteem there is a great live version.
Back in the AOL chat room days around the time this song came out, I met a guy with the quote on his profile "All the girlies say I'm pretty fly for a white guy" because he loved the song. We ended up eventually getting married, ha!
Love Acid Bath, you should react to Bleed Me An Ocean.
Interesting you mentioned the Jonestown incident. There's a band called Jim Jones Revue (no relation) who laid down some blistering rock 'n' roll. Worth a look & listen.
Americana and Hit That are a couple of my personal favorite but you can't really go wrong with any of their songs
You ought to do Hammerhead. That song hits hard.
Smart punk musicianship!
Offspring - Smash is the Nevermind of Punk Rock. It blew the genre up to the world. Also, screw gate keeping.
