Dexter Holland, the lead singer of the Offspring, is amazing. Besides putting out the band's 10th album, he sold their record label, created a hot sauce company, and recently got his Doctorate in Molecular Biology. To say that is impressive is an understatement.

I loved this whole album. You should try ‘Come Out and Play’.

“Gone Away” is so smooth, melodic and moving. Dexter Holland wrote it in memory of his girlfriend who died in a car accident.

Dexter Holland in an interview said he wrote the song after an incident that he and his wife experienced, a shooting at an ice cream shop. It is not about a girlfriend who died tragically. For an actual song about a girlfriend who died tragically in a car accident, try the song, Fly High to the Angels by Slaughter, about Mark Slaughter's girlfriend who died in a car accident while he was on tour. Nonetheless, Gone Away is a great song and one of my favorites by The Offspring.

Ironically, Gone Away was playing on the radio as I followed the ambulance in which my grandmother passed away. Still a tough listen for me, but great song nonetheless

PS, The Offspring' s smash album was their 3rd album they released. Their early stuff is heavier and more punky, they got softer the more albums they released. Try " come out and play", which was another hit song off their breakout album Smash. Another band to react to. Silverchair. Started out in 1994 as 14 year olds who won a music competition for their song Tomorrow. Toured half of 1995 as the support act to RHCPS in the USA at 15 years old. Check out Israel's Son, Pure Massacre, Freak, Emotion Sickness, Spawn Again- they don't have a vid clip for that but pull up the lyrics and listen to it after Tomorrow and you'll be stunned at the difference between the 2 songs.

They have a truly underappreciated gem in "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid". Stellar guitar work and lyrics!

First song of theirs that I ever heard was "Come out and Play". Its still one of my favorites. Ya'll need to check that one out next.

One of my all-time favorite songs by them is gone away. It’s an awesome power ballad about missing somebody that died I wishing you could trade places.

Why isn't anybody asking for "Why Don't You Get a Job?" That was one of their biggest hits I guess I'm asking for it now

The first song you should have done was Offspring - Come Out and Play. Or maybe Self Esteem. Come Out And Play was their first major hit. It does something different with the drums you guys will like.

I saw The Offspring play an absolutely insane Halloween night show with three other punk bands (including Rancid) back when they were at the peak of their success. The floor was covered in broken beer bottles and slippery, so when I went to the bathroom in between bands all three sinks were clogged and overflowing with bloody water. And that was just the tip of the iceberg for how crazy that show was.

Offspring absolutely rocks! I don't even know where to begin with suggestions. So many bangers!

This band is so underrated when people talk about the greats, mostly because they're a punk band that their core. Gone Away, Original Prankster, Come Out and Play, and Hammerhead are all songs you need to give a listen.

Punk has the non-commercial, DIY ethic, which gives you the double-edged sword of sell-out/not-well-known, that limits general appreciation. Skate punk, of course, is lighter, poppier version of an abrasive genre that generally takes a stand, which makes it even easier to dismiss as a valued artist. Offspring also veered off to jokey lyrics after Smash, which has the problem of making it seem like they're not taking the music very seriously and, if they're not valuing themselves, why should anyone else? There was a great band called Tukkanuotta, worth checking out, trash metal, I think, certainly extreme metal, musically excellent, that never got anywhere, probably because of jokey lyrics and because they kept booking gigs with hardcore bands, but maybe also just plain luck of the draw. Comedy just is a genre unto its own, because there is always that uneasy feeling of not taking it seriously and, if the band doesn't and the audience does, then the audience sort of becomes the butt of the joke, if only because their levels of commitment to the music may be reversed as opposed to the norm. That then leads to lesser commitment from the general public of the genre. It's one thing to be sarcastic while providing biting criticism, it's quite another to just seem to joke around.

This was my introduction to Offspring as a teenager. This entire album rocks and every single song is worth listening to.

My daughter met Dexter Holland when they were touring with the Vandals. She didn't realize who he is was until they played. She said he was a very polite and interesting person.90s had some excellent rock bands. Jane's Addiction- Stone Temple Pilots- Cake, - etc. HEY WHY NO BECK? Anything off of Odelay or Midnight Vultures (nominated for a Grammy)

If I remember right, you reacted to "Gone Away" performed by Five Finger Death Punch. Well. You've found the original writers. They come with the comedy, the feels, the poignancy. You never know what you're getting hit with til they hit you with it. And they are giving it to you with an amazing punk style. You can't really go wrong with The Offspring, but I'd recommend "The Kids Aren't All Right," "Bad Habit," "Come Out and Play," "Half-Truism," "Slim Pickens Always Does The Right Thing," "Hammerhead" (the beat for this one will get you going GOOD), and "Fix You." Long list, and there's more I could add, but I'm forcibly cutting myself off. Cuz so many amazing songs...

Fell in love with this song at a point. All I Want is my favorite song by them. Bound for The Floor is another song I loved from this era

2 other 90's rock bands I don't think you've yet covered worth checking out are U.K. grunge/post-grunge band Bush, "Glycerine", "Comedown", "Machine Head"; and U.S. gothic metal band Type O Negative, "Black No. 1", "Christian Woman", and "Love You to Death".

Yeah, I've always felt this was their best song. I like that you worked up to this, so you had something better to look forward to.

I love the song and I was so pleased to see you were reacting to it, but honestly I feel like most of the lyrics just went right over J's head!!

Takes me back to high school. Absolutely love The Offspring. My favorite song of theirs is "Bad Habit", probably because I had a bit of road rage LOL. I would also suggest, "Come Out And Play". 😎👍

LOOOOVE Offspring. I turned 30 early 90s and got VERY VERY into 90s rock. Oh the 1st, so fun Lollapaloozas! Offspring one of my favorites of the era.

Rob Squad Offspring always gives off a massive energy vibe. My favorite by this group is "Gone Away" Love the reaction because this song has a ton of edge to it.

I've always thought The Offspring did the best 90s interpretation of old school punk.

This album, "Smash", is the first CD I ever bought when I was a teenager. This and the Cranberries "No Need To Argue". I have such great memories of listening to both over and over.

90’s was awesome, the background songs that you just hear go about your business were better than a lot of decades

Offspring is really the tale of 2 bands, anything of the "Smash" album is more grunge and heavy, later they did lighter, more "commercial" tracks like "pretty fly for a white guy". Would highly recommend trying more from "Smash", any song on there is fire so you can't really pick wrong.

If you are into the 90's and good bass guitar check out 311. They are a 90's rock, rap, reggae band that have been going 30 years strong and have a loyal grassroots following. The Offspring opened for them on a recent summer tour. There are so many greet 311 songs but the most popular MTV/Chart songs were "Down", "All Mixed Up", and "Amber".

This was released during peak grunge. A very similar song to this is "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" by Smashing Pumpkins.

This whole album is fire, keep them separated, bad habit. The offspring has so many great songs.

Love them!! Loved them since high school!! Finally got to see them live this summer and they didnt disappoint!!

I was fifteen the first time i heard Self-Esteem, I bought the album IMMEDIATELY. I'd sit with friends in the park and we'd talk and try to sing along with the radio. Skinny manic ginger GIRL that I was, I WAILED this song!

Bad Habit is another great song that they did. So good!!

Come out and Play gets my vote too great reaction!

I just saw The Offspring in Vegas for When We Were Young, what an amazing show!

I think a great song for Female Friday would be 'Unpretty' by TLC ... such a powerful message to young women insecure with their image. 3 lovely ladies the video's so powerful imo. That song turned my life around❤ x

The "smash" album was the punk grunge album that put them on the map. The "pretty fly for a white guy" era was well after they sold out.

Offspring is great! Yes the delivery is great but really pay attention to the lyrics. All their songs are filled with messages. One my favorite bands from this era!

Great reaction to the great band, thank you:) I've been a huuuge Offspring fan since I was nine, and up until my 20th, been on a number of their shows, even had an opportunity to join them in meet-and-greet after the show. They have a ton of amazing songs, musically and lyrically. All the lyrics btw is written by the vocalist, Bryan Keith 'Dexter' Holland:) My suggestions would be She's got issues, Gone Away, I Choose, Dirty Magic :)

The offspring were originally considered a punk band. The first most of us heard of them was a song from this album called Come Out and Play. It is more on the serious side, but check it out.

I was in 6th grade when this album dropped. This song was all over the place along with Come Out and Play. The whole album is worth a spin.
