That's one thing I've always liked about the Offspring. Almost all their songs have elements of humor. I think the singer is very smart. Has an advanced degree, etc. In a way, similar to Weird Al. They have a song about road rage that I'm fond of. Another about wanting your girlfriend to be a little more freaky in bed. One about having a significant other that refuses to get a job and help with finances, etc. Just humorous and interesting songs played in what I'd call that 90s California skater tone.

Imagine real life Malibu's Most Wanted only way too many weren't even rich so they were just lower middle class and drove around in hand-me-down cars that were 6 different colors with spinners they saved 2 years to afford. I usually enjoy Mr Boyd's reactions and his thoughtful analysis of the song/lyrics/video. On this occasion, I'm surprised by his humourless comments. Surely he's encountered middle class wannabe "gangstas" and thought how pathetically deluded they are. The way in which the women are portrayed in the video is an obvious spoof of the casual sexism present in some hip hop videos. Maybe Mr Boyd was just having a bad day.

Man, I remember when this song first came out. It was absolutely everywhere and made all of us laugh because every single person in the 90s knew at least one white kid (boy or girl. Let’s not forget the girls who were like this too!) who was just like this. They came from the suburbs, usually from a family who was modestly well off or incredibly wealthy, who attended all white schools that had a few minorities sprinkled in, and yet behaved as if they came from the ‘hood. The funniest thing about this song that even if it came out in the 90s, you can still find this person in the wild even those who made it big. A couple comes to mind: Vanilla Ice and Iggy Azalea. Both came from the suburbs and rapped as if they came from poorer backgrounds. Let’s not forget Drake who came out with a song that included this lyric: “We came up from the bottom now we here” when he grew up in a very privileged family.

The phrase in the beginning of the song is "Gunter glieben glauten globen", a German-like nonsense phrase. It's a soundbite of the intro to "Rock of Ages" by Def Leppard. It was introduced by producer Mutt Lange, who is of German descent. According to the official Def Leppard FAQ: "These four words that you hear at the start of "Rock of Ages", mean nothing, though the band sometimes jokingly claims it means "running through the forest silently". It's actually just German-sounding gibberish, said by producer Mutt Lange during one of the later takes of the song. Lange was a perfectionist and would often do dozens & dozens of takes, and after repeatedly beginning so many with the standard count, "One, two, three, four" he simply started saying nonsense words instead, the band liking this one so much that they included it on the album."
