    My 2 big tips for a turkish redemption would be use united airlines website for their calendar to find availability. Their site is way better than turkish. Secondly if it only let's you book 1 person on turkish website it can be janky sometimes to just use the turkish app that works. I'm a west coast guy so most recently did 45k from lax business class to europe. Spent a little less than that with a xfer bonus. Cheers 🍻

    People who complain about C1 partners dont understand partners well enough. My 3 favorites are Aeroplan, BA and Turkish. I have not had trouble with Turkish. I've booked to Europe on Turkish, to Mexico in business on United, domestic on United economy all with no issues. The value of those have been extremely good. Flying Blue I am sure would be in my top but I have not booked through them. Ive used Aeroplan many times including back from Mexico, back from Europe (on that Singapore flight!) Intra Asia (this year again on Singapore) BA inused to book QSuites in Sept. So yes C1 miles have gotten me fantastic value!

    Aeroplan is definitely goated, I have a business class flight on Singapore airlines that I booked through Aeroplan with a transfer bonus so it was only 63k points. For that reason I’d rank Turkish above Singapore, cause why use Krisflyer when I can use less points on aeroplan? British avios are also clutch as I used them for an AA flight to Cancun for 10k points. Great breakdown!

    I used Eithad to fly AA first class from JFK to LA for 25,000 miles and $14 on the A321 Transcon with the lie flat seats. It also gave me access to Flagship First dining at JFK which was almost worth it by itself. The same redemption through BA is over twice the miles. I've actually used Turkish miles for a 45K business class flight to Europe, wasn't that tough, but I was flying solo. Could be a headache with a family. I recently booked Flying Blue DFW to Paris non stop in business class for 50K per person. I've never booked through Aeroplan. For whatever reason it never works out coming from DFW

    Thanks for the video, Luke! I wish Chase and/or Amex would take on Turkish Airlines as a transfer partner. I have far more points with Chase and Amex than I do with C1. And there aren’t too many opportunities to accumulate C1 miles while Chase and Amex have many more ways to earn their points. Having C1 miles being my only currency (I don’t have a foot in Citi’s ecosystem) to transfer to Turkish Airlines isn’t exactly optimal.

    Are there any good partner airlines for domestic travel? Searched virgin, aero plan, and BA and all came in like 1.5-2X higher than booking direct! This was looking at United delta AND AA! I’m looking at SFO to MSY for the creator gathering. Guess I’ll be sticking to SWA. Though AA has some saver award deals. The only nonstop is United and they want a hefty 34k each way

    I’m not sure I understand. Qantas and BA will generally be less points than AA. Virgin or Air France will likely be less points than delta. But they also have a travel portal and you can “erase” those charges with points

    Thank you! I always used to do the purchase eraser, which I’ve learned isn’t the most bang for your buck. So do I convert the points and then purchase or do I book through cap one

    @@kristinstembo it sounds like you’re going to need to do some more research. Nothing wrong with the purchase eraser but you’re not going to get great value that way. I think the two options I suggested are rather advanced. But you could check emirates website and if they have availability you would transfer cap1 miles to emirates and book. But it’s a little more complicated than that.

    I have trouble finding availability on AA via BA. Seems the flights I want are never available and I end up paying cash or 1cpp via portal in the end.

    @@LukesPointsandMilesyes, DFW. I find availability about 25% of the time. Family of 3. My best option is thru portal for 1 cpp value. Fly domestically 6 or more times per year.

    Nice video Luke! 👍👍 I have a question. I know that you will need to have an account with Transfer Partner to transfer points from Capital One and other banks. Is it okay to accumulate some mileage with multiple airlines within same Airline Alliances for future use? I want to be sure that it is okay before doing this for future redemptions.

  • @LukesPointsandMiles

    @LukesPointsandMiles

    Do you mean transferring points just to build them up? I would not recommend. Transferring til you have a redemption to execute. Those points won’t transfer back if you change your mind and sometimes they could expire.

    No, I'm talking about mileage accumulation for flying certain airlines that are part of Capital One Transfer Partners. For example, is it okay to have some mileage for Singapore Airlines and Avianca just for flying even though they are part of same alliance. I would use the mileage later on with some transferred mileage from Capital One or other banks.
