I hit my one year anniversary on the venture x, I love this setup. Getting the savor one for sure

My wife got the VX in February. Hit that bonus Real quick. I then got the Savor in March right before going to Orlando. All amusement parks count at the 4%. So if you do things like that, you will hit that $9500 easy. Everyone loved the Priority Access for our family of 5 in Orlando. Had a 5 minute wait to get in, but the breakfast hit the spot for just a tip on our way back home.

I've been running the venture X and Savor One. I've pocketed 220k miles on the last 10 months. Maximizing those modifiers has been amazing. Plus 95k miles for 4300 in spend with both cards intro bonuses. Also, one is a Mastercard and the other is Visa. So if you travel somewhere were one doesn't work, you can use the other. Had an issue in Korea years ago where Visa would not work anywhere. So I love that flexibility.

I like the setup. I have it. But really it's hard to extract value without as you point out using transfer partners. And finding that sweet spot. You should put a dollar amount on the work you have to do to extract value. To me it seems that if you're rich enough to travel to exotic places to get this value, your time is worth so much it offsets the value because of the time you have to put in to extract it

I’m one month in with the Duo and can confirm this is perfect for anyone working abroad. Zero FT fees and 2-3x on everything you can pay with card. Also, Cash Back can only be transferred to Miles on the website, not in the app. That took a bit to figure out. So, to summarize: 💵💶💷💳🤑

Excellent video. I'm newer in my credit card journey for upgraded travel. I use a three card setup that includes the Venture X, Savor One, and BILT Mastercard. Perfect for my level of spend and I'm basically getting paid $5 to use!

Have a Venture X been great so far and the lounges were really nice when i went to Japan. Just picked up the Savor after watching this vid seems like an easy combo for someone who is just dipping their toes into points optimization.

How were u be able to access to lounge in Japan? The ANA lounge at Haneda no longer accepts priority pass users unless u were at Narita airport

Question - Have you ever done a cash back card vs travel card - which is the best way to go? With airlines like Alaska and American Airlines going to dynamic pricing and making miles worth a lot less does it make more sense to get cash back and use said cash for travel?

Glad that you finally did a video on this duo. Love VX and waiting for a few months to get Savor One as C1 won't give it to me right away. Definitely underrated and for many a better setup than the Chase trifecta in terms of simplicity and value. Which other setup gives you this level of lounge access, minimum 2X, 3X for broad set of categories including groceries, primary CDW, no international fees, for credits that easily cover the VX fees. Hyatt is great, but how many Hyatt points can you realistically use if you are not into upper end resorts?

x gonna give it to ya is the theme song for my venture x card. it plays in my head when i use it or talk to friends about it

I have a quicksilver card. Really don't wanna cancel that card just for Savor as it is one of my earliest cards.

Chase is weak on groceries, Capital One is weak on gas, and the Citi Custom Cash is there to plug any hole!

Amex Gold & Venture X is my Duo :)

I have this set up and I really love it. I went with the Venture X and the Savor One. For gas I use the no annual fee Amex Hilton card bc you get 5x Hilton points.👍💪

I actually have the business venture X for the past 4 months, one of the few invited to test the card out before it was released. Its the same as venture x but doesnt report on your personal credit score and the spending is like an amex charge card. It adjusts based off your spending. I use the regular venture as my workhorse. Other than those two cards im heavy into amex with business platinum, gold, business gold, blue business plus, amex amazon business card, hilton surpass. I'm obviously in a unique situation because of running an e-commerce business so i spend 60-100k a month, but most of that is on the business venture x now for wholesale.

Been rocking this Duo since last summer. Pretty clutch.

I love to plan a year in advance so I've had some luck. Especially with Business class. First Class seems to be available more often at T3 and T14.... my plan for Japan, I'm going to book J with Alaska points and hope F opens up near or on my day of travel.. cancel and rebook. If it doesn't happen I'm sure I'll be ecstatic with J.

Im pretty much approved for all of these. I have 5 credit cards and theyre all paid off. I tend to dine alot with friends, order door dash every other day and want to start going to concerts, staying in nice hotels. I don't think id do much international travel. I wonder which card would be best for me🤔

Great vid as usual, Sebby! What is your strategy when looking at flights at T300, T14, and T3 from flight date? In your opinion, is it better to book whatever you can using points and then trying to upgrade at those intervals? Or just risk it and try booking at those intervals? Thanks!

I have the savor one and venture one. Still contemplating the X. Or Citi premier. I don't value lounges, but kinda of want unlimited access. (I have the us bank altitude connect with 4 passes a year). I wouldn't use the hotel or flights multipliers because I don't like booking through a portal. I have a custom cash so a premier will unlock travel partners with Citi. Kind of feel like I don't need the X since I have the venture one, but I would like 2x back on everything

Got denied the first time in June of 2022, got approved for a 30k limit in February 2023. I'm in the late game.

🪃 I have a Venture X. I have been wanting the Savor card. I don't spend much at grocery stores because I shop at Costco mostly but I do go to concerts and dine out regularly... year 1 will 100% be Savor and I'll debate downgrading in year 2.

I use the venture X and Savor card (no annual fee since I was one of the first few to get the card) for everyday. My gas card is the PNC cash back card that gives 4% on gas. I think I’m pretty covered with all purchases.

I have the Venture and am excited to add the Savor this year (waiting for hard inquiries to go down). Adding my partner as AU on both so we both rack up miles. The Chase trifecta for me isn’t appealing bc of the weird points earning structure. I want the Hyatt points though so I may just get the Hyatt credit card in the future, or the Bilt. Already in the Cap1 and Amex ecosystems and don’t feel like adding in a third…

Capital One announced yesterday that the 10% Uber cash back is not available outside the US.

I have the WF autograph, Active Cash, and the discontinued Visa Signature that multiplies my points by 1.5 when redeemed for flights. All of them are no annual fee and have no travel partners. I'm interested in moving to a setup with Travel Partners but is it worth moving to Amex, Chase, or Capital One?

I got approved for the platinum (was upgraded 1 year later to the Quicksilver cash rewards for good credit) and then was approved for the quicksilver one which is strange being that i was offered an upgrade to the QS cash rewards for good credit and the regular walmart rewards card with $300 limit each, so now i have 4 total cards with them as i was also recently approved for the Capital one Walmart rewards mastercard with a $3000 limit (maybe they are seeing me as a worthy customer) but sometimes i dont get how capital ones approval system and credit limit approvals work lol. Hopefully i will graduate (get upgraded) to a Venture X, Savor and savor one..Do you think i have any chance? 🤞🤞🤞

🪃 Good video! I like the simplicity of Cap One. I have a personal bias against them from many years ago, so I probably won’t get their cards. But their 2 card set is pretty attractive.

I'm not thinking of it. My cards are focused at general chase points and hilton Aspire use. I can't see how my spend would also support a third family. Next card to be CIC. I actually came out of retirement (for awhile) to help get the buisness cards.

I have the Venture X but also the AMEX Gold, I have been using the AMEX gold for dining but if I get the Savor it'll be the new dining card right? I've been using my Venture X as my catch all but wondering if it's better to continue using AMEX or switch?

If you already have the Amex Gold that gets multipliers on dining and groceries how could you still get maximum use out of Savor One?

I can recommend the Travelambo bifold wallet. It has nine slots for cards but you can easily add two cards per slot. I’ve had it for at least six years now and it still holds up well. The only things I hate about it is that taking your ID out of its clear slot is a hassle, and if you have a tall currency notes like euros, they’ll stick out of the wallet. Otherwise, I like it.

I think I have a smaller bifold clip wallet I bought from like, Wilson Leather Company or similar. It has a nice clip on one side that I use to bifold any type of currency and it holds them within the dimensions of the clip wallet. Not even Yen stick outside of the wallet dimensions. I use it for things other than just cards, but I probably have...close to 10 cards in there, along with two IDs in the clear window (I have my Native American ID and Driver's License in that pocket), and there's a another hidden pocket within the bifold portion on the inside that I have some money folded inside, just in case I'm somewhere and for whatever reason my cards are all lost, stolen, whatever...It's small enough to carry in my front pocket (I *never* carry any wallet in a back pocket), but I don't wear nut hugger jeans. I don't wear overly baggy, but I don't wear jeans that may indicate I'm attempting to castrate myself. This wallet has been with me for a few years and has been all over the world with me, hasn't let me down once. This is my 3-season wallet. For colder seasons (read: Pea Coats, overcoats, etc...) I pull out the classic stitched and leather "Bad Motherfucker" wallet.

Hey Seb! Would you go with the Chase Sapphire Reserve or Capital One Venture X? I currently have the Venture One card (used to have the Venture) downgraded during pandemic. I would go for Chase 5/24 slots first, and then Venture X. But really depends on how many cards you want to optimize for.

So far not interested in the X. The only topic of interest is lounges with it. Have priority covered already. That would be my interest. Just as a travel card I'm set with chase family and the hilton Aspire.

I have a similar set up and the Venture X is worth it, the Capital One travel portal leverages Hopper and prices matches. The $395 fee is offset in year one with the SUB and the $300 credit with travel booked through the portal and every year after with the 10,000 point anniversary credit and $300 credit through the portal. Factor in the airport lounge access, 4 free AUs etc. it is very easy to justify.

I was curious what your opinion would be I am moving to New York City in a couple weeks and I’m of thinking about applying for the venture X or the capital one I’m trying to decide because I know there is a six month gap between getting a capital one card and I was wondering, which one you would get first. I was leaning towards getting the venture one first because I can hit the minimum spend already and allow me to get that sign a bonus and secures me into getting the more premium card. But I thought it would be nice to be able to get that Uber benefits that come with the saver one by getting that first and utilizing that throughout all of 2023 and 2024. I currently have a discover it for being a student then I have an Apple Card and I just got a Chase off I preferred in May so I don’t wanna be locked out of capital one if I start gathering more cards before the venture Rex‘s do you think I should get the metrics before just secure my spot in there. I know it’s a long question but hope to get some guidance from one of the best.

I currently have the Capital One Venture X, a sock drawered Quick Silver, a US Bank Altitude Go, and Discover IT card. I was watching your recent video about the Savor One card, and was wondering if I should get that card and cancel my altitude go? Down side would be going from 4x points to 3% back on restaurants and food. But at the same time all I use the altitude go card for is food and the streaming credit. Good thing about savor one is I could transfer it's rewards over to Venture X, and it has 3% on groceries, entertainment, and streaming.

You kinda talked me into the venture one. It would be a free way to transfer points earned from a savor card. Or it w ould at least definitely be the ideal downgrade path from venture X if you also had a savor card..right? Am I missing something?

So from what I have heard is that you can only hold 2 personal capital credit cards (non-business cards) at one time. Unfortunately I have the quicksilver and savor one cards already. My plan was to have the savor one and venture x as my 2 main cards. I don't want to upgrade the quicksilver because i know I won't get to take advantage of the signup bonuses the venture x offers when you apply for a new account? What would you suggest i do to be able to somehow get the venture x and take advantage of the sign up bonuses? The quicksilver is alsonthe cedit card I have had the longest. Please help!!!

Don't discount the VentureOne... when you have the Quicksilver and Savorone. The People's Trifecta w no annual fee. With the $95 annual fee, the Venture is effectively a 1.5% rewards card so why not replace it with the Quicksilver?

But I'm concerned i won't get its true value as I won't be booking through the capital one Portal for flights or hotels. Is it still valuable compared to other cards in generating miles if I have to book through my companies system??

@@MattMcGrathOfficial 6 months in between applications. Use their pre-approval tool before applying. It may give you a good idea as to whether or not you’ll be approved beforehand.

Sebby, Is there a best time during the day to submit an online application for a better chance at approval?

Just call Capital One today (05/07/2024), and they said that I can't transfer points from Savor One to Venture X since Savor One is cash card and can't transfer to travel card like Venture X. Is it true?

Something to keep in mind with Capital One and referrals: if the person you refer currently has, or has ever had (even if it is cancelled) ANY Capital One credit product, they will *NOT* honor the referral. After 2 hours of extolling the virtues of VentureX to a friend who has for 20+ years refused to get a premium card and immediate approval, Capital One will not honor the referral bonus because she has a Quicksilver sitting in her desk drawer.

Does Virgin Red partner with Japan Airline? Which VX transfer partner I can use for Japan Airlines?

Though Virgin partners with Delta, they don’t have access to their suite of domestic flights. Primarily Europe and Major US cities. It’s difficult to understand when trying to book through Virgin.

🪃 One other great value proposition is to Transfer to Turkish Airlines for domestic US flights on United. All domestic flights are only 7,500 points, and this includes flights to Hawaii. So it becomes fairly easy to hit 2 CPP or more. Obviously the biggest downside is just finding availability.

VentureX and SavorOne might go with my Chase setup which only covers groceries part of the year. I see good synergy with the VentureX as the perks card and the CSP for Hyatt and United. I'm thinking Wyndham could be a useful partner when you consider the Caesars and Vacasa partnerships. I'll have to garden for about a year first or maybe let my wife have it since she is earlier on her credit card journey.

I've been considering dropping my CSR and applying for a CSP since the Venture X covers most of the perks for travel that the CSR offers. However I'm totally with you on Hyatt, it's my favorite transfer partner.

@@ps_83 CFF gets 5X on rotating categories every quarter. The important thing is how good the categories are. Groceries shows up once a year and you also see Walmart, Target, Amazon, and PayPal regularly, and you don't normally see them in other cards.

C1’s pre approval is kinda weird. They keep telling me that I’m qualified for the savor one for good credit while I have around 15 cards.

Yes, because Venture X gets you at least 2X points on everything, while Quicksilver only gets you 1.5X

hey SEbby, I currently have the Venture card... would I have able to apply for Venture X card? is it a good idea to get the Venture X? Also, I want to get my wife setup on a travel card as well currently she is not setup on a travel card. Since I have Cap One... should I have her sign up for Chase Sapphire?

I was going to get the Venture X but after doing a lounge search on Priority Pass am very disappointed on the options it has. My home airports of Wichita and KC don’t even have any options. I have connections a lot in Chicago and Denver but they have United lounges that I can go to with my United CC. Is it still worth having for someone like me?

Venture X could be a good "1 year test and then downgrade" given the intro bonus. Put another way, you're getting paid to test the card. On UA side, you would need the United Club and fly enough that you derive value from said card without credits.

I currently am mid game and have the quick silver as my first card and the venture. Are you aware of the capital one 2 card rule ? How can I move on from here to get the venture x without losing my points from the venture.
