you should do some content on credit card end game. I started churning in 2012 and have had almost every card from sapphire reserve, 5 different amex platinums, venture x, citi prestige, starwood cards, etc. now ive reduced my cards down to 1 premium (venture x) and a bunch of downgraded no annual fee cards (freedom, amex everyday, citi double). not much churning nowadays except to reapply for sapphire / citi cards every 2 years or so when the bonuses re-activate. what do you do at the end of your credit card journey?

All I gotta say is that Ask Sebby is the GOAT of the credit card world!
I applied for and got approved for my VENTURE X card yesterday. I have a Credit Scores in the 800s, I never carry a balance on any of my cards for more than a few days, and my income is roughly $195K annually. I have a Delta Amex Reserve, Amex Platinum, Alaska Airlines Visa, Barclays Mastercard, and a Visa through my bank (USAA). I was approved with no issues at all.
One note I'd add at 10:08 is that the capital one travel portal has price match, unlike the chase portal. I've used it several times and it's a great way to avoid the extra fees (one of the main reasons people want to avoid portals in the first place) while still getting the multipliers. Imo this makes the C1 portal way better than Chase's. Thank you for the great content!

I’ve had the card for 3 months now and have loved it. It worked out pretty nicely because I’ve had 3 connections in DFW in that span. Such an amazing lounge, probably my favorite in the states. Denver’s opening in March, hopefully IAD by end of q2. I’ve booked twice through the portal and requested price matches both times, it was quick and painless, great CS experience so far. Only thing is I am still waiting for my travel credit 3 weeks later. C1 says it can take up to 2 billing cycles but lots of reports of people having issues with the credit.

@@MichaelMcNeeley I have heard of a lot of people getting there’s within a week as well! Seems like it’s either end of the spectrum, ie right away, or 2 full billing cycles.
I have venture X and savor card. It’s such a good set up. With this set up, I’m able to go on vacation twice a year !
The Venture X has been amazing for me, and definitely an amazing card and deserving of card of the year.
Thank you so much for this video! Liked and subscribed!
Second try and approved! Love the card so far. Hope your referral worked. I also want to do add this. You mentioned that C1 is giving you $5 to keep the card on 4:57. But I think you are also earning 10x points when redeeming $300 travel credit through the portal. If we also include that, you are earning 3000 points which makes $30 which bring the total to $35 instead of $5. But regardless, it is a keeper card for sure! Thanks Sebby🙂
Data point 22 personal cards when applied Had a old capital one quicksilver rarely used Also had a capital one bank account for three years Approved with 820 score November 21
Thanks for the info! I watched before applying and got approved. My credit score is excellent and I have strong income, but I do carry balances over month to month so I think I fit the customer bracket you were talking about. I haven’t opened a card in the past few years.

Thanks for the information. I'm going to apply for this card in few months.
Thanks for covering the capital one venture x card! I was curious about the perks.
🧼🧼🧼 this was a very informative video Sebby! Capital One has never peaked my interest even in the beginning of my cc game. I've watched alot of videos on the Venture X cc; and although it's an amazing card it's not one I'm going to pick up (right now and/or ever). I'm in the AMEX eco currently running up my gold card points and going to get the platinum soon. Luckily, my cousin will be an authorized user (military) so that'll wave all my fee's. Since my gf is rebuilding/establishing credit I'm going to educate her on the Capital One ecosystem and maybe run a 2 player game in the future to maximize her travel points. Thanks again for dropping all the gems I look forward to more videos.
I just got my Venture X a couple of weeks ago as my 11th card. Last card I opened was back in Aug 22. For me, this card is the most affordable way to get into the premium travel card space without dealing with the headaches of having a Platinum card while being a better value proposition than the CSR.

I think a good video to cover, especially for people who have never seen this side of the travel/rewards world, would be to show them the credit card game. What’s a good starter (chase) or what’s a good end game (amex) and everything in between. Never seen a video like that covering all the different set ups and when they’re ideal on your rewards journey.

I am 2 years into the credit card game at 20. I currently have 4 cards and plan to get the savor one this year. Prioritize capital one as I like the savor one+venture x combo. Will get the venture x after the savor one as I am someone early in the game.

Great point about the approval odds!
DP, I applied for this card in Oct 2022 but was denied, but applied for the Venture the same day and was approved. Fast forward February 2023, applied and was approved for the X. P2 already have the X and loves it, and by comparing to other premium cards, the X keeps it simple and will actually pays you back just to keep it. Win win in my book and a keeper!
Great video. Love the Venture X card!
this made me decide to stop waiting and just got approved! had 8 cards with 3 in the last 2 years and some balance.
Great video as always, but one thing I would add is that Capital One doesn't let you upgrade or downgrade as freely as other issuers. There usually has to be an offer for an upgrade or downgrade on your account before they'll let you change to a different card, so there's still a risk of having to cancel.
Thanks Shelby for this video. I understand this video much better because you r speech is slower than other videos. I may be a minority demographic but keep in mind there are people in their 60s like myself who are watching your very valuable presentation. Also, I called capital one 2 days ago and the rep told me I can have up to 10 authorized users on Venture x card! I will call again to verify. Much blessings
Thanks for the video, went applied and got approved for the card after watching this video

Capital One’s business strategy used to be sub prime. They have been working the last 10 years to Chang that. Last year was the Venture X release and then will be the launch of there concierge experience after acquiring Velocity black. They are absolutely making moves against AMEX.

I was traveling a lot this past year, and will definitely be traveling less in the next few years. I had the CSR for the benefits and was planning to downgrade in June after my travel credit and refund the annual fee. Is it crazy to get the capital one now to help fund some spring travel (especially for the travel credit + hertz PC)?
I just got approved last week. 9 CC with less than 5% utilization. My last card approval was 7 months ago. As well they do limit the amount of Capital One Cards some can have. 800 fico Experian
One thing is that the Citi double cash charges FX fees and the Amex BBP has a cap and isn’t a charge card. The C1 Venture and Spark are both no FX and are uncapped miles.
Hey Sebby you should talk about the new venture x premier collection. Pretty similar to the program to the amex hotel collection (just not many hotels atm)
I think I am going to get the Venture first then the X in a year or 2. Baby brother is also effectively free the first year with a Pre Check credit bigger than the AF and the same welcome bonus as the X.
Additional data point: I got denied for the VentureX on 03/2023 for too many open revolving accounts. I have 6 cards including the VentureOne (my oldest open card). Opened 3 cards over the last two years. Will go for a second Chase card this year instead, and try for the VentureX next year!
Got denied also for the same thing. There was a sweet spot when folks like us were getting approved. My mistake was thinking CAP1 was changing the profile for this card, so I put off appying untillit was too late. I think they hit the number of applicants for people with many cards or many credit lines. Awesome cameo Mandy👊

Looking forward to the airport lounge access. I am 2 months in and have hit my bonus of 75K. So far the card has been great. I also received the travel credit and just proceed the Global Entry application for the $100 credit. So far so good. My concern is the very high rate I have of over 18 percent. I just got approved with 13 other cards, three other Capital One cards. My taxable income is $45k and they gave me a 15k limit 🤷
Thanks. Didn't know that authorized users can also have c1 lounge access. Unfortunately there isn't one in my home base. Would you recommend both players have this card, or just 1 player?
Card has been OK, kept it because of the zero effective annual fee, would have otherwise cancelled it. I tried to do a phone protection claim through them. The repair work was done by the same vendor that runs their insurance claims and they refused to cover it. I had the screen replaced, which they claimed was due to a manufacturers defect and not considered a repair. So even though on paper the benefits look good, they are actually garbage. That on top of no restaurants for Priority Pass any longer. I have Priority Pass through other cards, so it adds no value. Like I mentioned, only kept it around cause it didn't cost me anything.
I actually really like Capital One, I have my quicksilver and it was my best card (excluding the few times discover got me 5% 😅) and my credit wise said I should go for the savor one and I did but they’ve delayed my application. And I’ve already got 7 cards. I really hope I can get the Venture X in the somewhat near future because it would easily be my go to card for all my travel. Also, dream scenario, which I know won’t happen at least not soon but if C1 had a good card for gas or one of their existing cards got a 3% gas multiplier they’d be my got to setup by far.
@TrentonMatthews
Жыл бұрын
Besides the Citi custom cash? Can't think of any other card that would be just as good.
🧼 hey Sebby, love the channel. You mentioned you can download three parts, I already have the quicksilver. Is upgrading your card common? If so, would it include closing the Quiksilver and opening the next option up.
I have been running the venture for a couple years but I’m looking to apply to the venture x as I can definitely see the value. I would product change to the savior one though if possible as I have been reducing my outside eating. So the 4x won’t really be something I’ll using.
so in regards to downgrading from capital one X to the non-fee cards, can you do it in the opposite direction to where you "upgrade" to the capital one venture X card again?
For fun I did a pre approval on cap one. I got approved for a secured quicksilver 😂. I’ll stick with my Amex platinum.
Good day Sir Sebby & Thank You for yet another Super Informative video. Are the Capital One Venture X 2x points for groceries & “others” applicable when Overseas?

A little guidance needed if you don’t mind, I have a platinum Delta, American Express card, and I just opened a Amex aspire card and I’ve hit the bonus on that, but I’m thinking I need the American Express Gold card to complement the other two. In saying that, after watching your video, should I go for the venture X card?💪🥂🍾
Noticed the other day you can now get pre-approved for the Venture X if you go to the Venture X page. It seems to be separate than the regular Capital One pre approval
Thank you for your video. Great information. I have a question. I have the Savor Card & VentureOne. Is there any data about with of these cards being upgraded to the Venture X card or do you have to always apply separately?

Thanks for the video Seb! Haven’t applied for a new CC in 11 months waiting to get under 5/24 for Chase Trifecta to finally downgrade CSP. Sadly my home airport lounge sucks (Pittsburgh). There is one Priority Pass one and it apparently sucks. The downside of not being in a bigger city or hub. I do have to transfer a lot through other cities which is probably where I'd get most benefit of this perk.

I have had the original Venture card (Venture ?) for many years now. Per your advice, I plan to ask Capital One for a retention bonus. I also might be applying for the Venture X, hopefully for my trip on March 24th to Thailand. Will doing this possibly interfere with my application acceptance?
Great video. About the 300 travel flight credit....can i use it or book for my fmaily(friend)? Thx
I definitely want this card; but based on your info and what I've read elsewhere, I'm confident that I'd get declined if I applied right now. My credit score is good but everytime I've been denied a card the reason has always been "you've opened too many accounts recently" If you're a bonus hunter like me then your best bet is to go a couple years without any applications and hopefully then you'll have a decent chance at approval for this card. Already having another Capital One card seems to hurt your chances as well.
Hey Sebastian! I ended up getting the amex cards and most of the chase cards before applying for the venture x and was denied when I applied for it. Is it still possible for me to get approved for it or am I going to have a rough time? My credit score is pretty high and I have a good amount of hard inquiries.
What is interesting to me is that I’m preapproved for the venture x but not for any of the excellent credit no annual fee c1 cards. I’m only preapproved for the good credit versions of the quicksilver and savorone, as well as the vanilla platinum. Typing this in March. For reference I applied for the CFF in feb, the bilt in Jan, and the savorone in Nov of last year.
If you already have the Amex gold card and the chase trifecta (Preferred, flex and unlimited), would it be wise to get this one as well? Travel about 2 times a year, hopefully, more in the future. Wife and 2 little kids, if that matters...lol. I would appreciate any advice and feedback you can give me. Long time subscriber here...
🧼 I have a question, is it possible to make someone an authorized user if they have been essentially black listed by the issuer? And if yes, could that improve their standing with the company? Thank you.
I’ve been re-building my credit and got approved for Venture One. Hopefully one day I can move up to Venture X.
The Venture X was my very first travel card. My 3rd ever card. Now I have 6... but I'm 40. Got into this game late. Lol.
I'm at 6/24 and venture doesn't show up in pre-approval. Guess I'll wait to see what Citi does. Is hard to not go for the platinum right now just because I know or feel like I can get it whenever I want. But trying to save the platinum for the end game. I don't like being forced to book through the portal but I do like what Capital One is doing around the venture X
If get the venture rewards or venture one card, do you think I would be able to upgrade to the VentureX card?
Do you know when the DEN Capital One lounge opens up?
This is why I never apply for a new card without watching your review/deep dive first.
Instant approval today for 30k. Excellent score, but less than perfect payment history and only one active, lower limit card.
I am looking to add both the Savor One and Venture X and get rid of my two current credit cards which are a JetBlue Master Card & Amazon Prime Visa. I do have balances that need to be paid on those two cards, but have an excellent credit score to be approved now for Venture X. Also want to add the Citi Custom Cash for gas eventually as well. How long in between should I apply for these three cards?
What if you already have the Capital One Quicksilver and Venture card? Would you cancel one to get the Venture X since Capital One only allows you to have 2 cards at one time?
I didn't realize that downgrading a Savor to SavorOne wasn't a thing. Maybe I'll try getting the SavorOne! I think the Venture X is a great early game card for when it doesn't make sense to pay the Sapphire Reserve or Amex Platinum annual fees that has additional late-game potential with transfer partners like Turkish. But I currently don't see too much extra value for Plaza Premium in Asia over just Priority Pass because most of the Plaza Premium lounges in SIN accept Priority Pass and HKG now has a Sapphire lounge but no longer has the Plaza Premium arrival lounge.
Wish this video had been released 24 hours ago and would have saved me getting denied. Another thing which is crazy is that cap1 pulls information from all three credit bureaus
