I did think the scene in the new season from DTS from this past year after he was fired might end up being perfect if they shit the bed this year. Someone said to him “The situation is a bit shit currently isn’t it? You’re probably better off not being there.” I know DTS is full of some manufactured drama nonsense, but these behind the scenes little moments are why I still watch it haha.

In part RB feels they have the fastest car on the field, by a long shot and don’t want to destroy hopes and dreams even before the season starts. If RB does have an amazingly fast car, turning viewers off before the season starts isn’t a good thing.

I appreciate that you actually explained WHY you felt the RedBull was the best out of the pack. Many other channels are saying RedBull is still the favorite, but failing to explain WHY, because when you look at the posted lap times, Ferrari is the best going solely by that. That's obviously only part of the picture and I appreciate the insight.

I think both Sainz and Gasly could be great options for the Mercedes seat. Both showed they have consistent pace when given a proper car. Both show they know how to win races and both are young and have a big margin of progression.

Can you cover the new WEC season ? A new set of rules and loads of new car, an easier pack to follow, with many GT3 cars, and the Hyperclass battle, with new works team, private team. It's eye catching and the WEC channel is doing a lot to hype this season

Personnally i think Aston Martin is underrated by everyone: if you look at sectors, Fernando was clearly slowing down in sector 2, by about 5 tenths on his fast laps. On his long runs he seems also to have been sandbagging and yet was clearly ahead of Maclaren and Mercedes, though behind Red Bull and Ferrari. I think the Aston Martin in Fernando's hands will compete with Ferrari, and will not be too far behind the Red Bull. Perhaps most telling was how confident Fernando looked: he smiled he shushed on social medias, he put pressure on Red Bull; if you look at AMF1 X account, they are also massively teasing with the shush. I think Aston Martin will be a major surprise come friday. We will know soon..

Hope McLaren and Aston have a strong car this year. Who knows.....

It is worth noting, that Alpine is often times slow in testing. It looked the same last year, they had about 350 laps under their belt, and slowest times on the board. I would say they are curently P7, behind Torro Rosso, and slightly ahead of Williams.

It's the "BWT Curse." Until Alpine loses the hideous pink, they will continue to meme.

What gets me is that teams have worked some time on the cars and then it seems that some underperform significantly ...🤔

If you adjust the mercs straight line speed (slowest in testing) to match aston martin (engine customer), but keep the timings of the merc on the corners, you will see just how fast that thing is, it's pretty damn fast.

That's a rubbish way to view it. Their top speed is probably drag limited, drag caused by the aero giving them the cornering performance. The Merc probably wouldn't have the cornering performance without the drag penalty. That's how aero works. By simply ignoring the Top speed data to paint a narrative that suits what you want to see, it ignores the truth.

​@@lankyboy90 By your logic the redbull should have been the slowest last year on cornering as they had 5+mph on everyone else in a straight line. Drag limitation is a major fundamental factor, but it's not as simple as you put it, it depends on the car and track, clever aero moves air differently depending on the speed the car is travelling, that's why there's limitations on flex etc.. however each team is trying to find clever ways to enable the car to do both, be fast on a straight, and fast in the corners.

@@lankyboy90 to be fair there's issues with my first statement also, they are 2 different cars with different aero etc.. however I'd bet at race pace those cars are pretty close in a straight line. I don't believe for a second that Merc spent the entire 3 days of testing in a heavily drag limited setup.

There is a video just released of Verstappen driving the RB20 outside of testing, I thought that was against the rules.

Their success depends mostly on which Lance they get. Post Qatar Lance scored only 2 less points then Alonso, & early season Lance did well considering he had 3 broken bones he was healing from, but mid season Lance was abysmal, (especially in qualifying).

The 2nd Red Bull car is on a very low carbohydrate diet, hence the VCARB name.

I'll bet my money on Sauber. Their car may not be the best at the beginning of the season but I would love to see James Key lead the team to improve the car throughout the season and prove that he was not the problem at McLaren. This is my hopium)

This is a VERY bold claim, I know some of the others are sandbagging and all including RB, but I think Merc has way more pace in them in comparison to Ferrari. I will rank them as Number 2 personally and the team to take it to RB this year (Not immediately lol, after a few races hopefully). It could be anynone between Mclaren, Aston, Merc, and Ferrari but I would say Merc is faster than Ferrari. P.S. Please don't blast me for it peeps, it is just what I think from after what I've seen in testing (Just my observation). Please do correct me if I am wrong though.

I feel like too much stock was put into the "poor" long run by Piastri. He was overfueled, has shown that to be his weakness, it's on a track where he didn't even get to race much last year due to DNF. I still think they'll have two cars in the top 5 in qualifying come Bahrain despite the track not suiting the car.

The Race had Ferrari, Mercedes & McLaren all within 0.1-0.2s on their testing data. F1 Data has Ferrari 0.2s ahead of McLaren who are ahead of Mercedes. It's all guesswork.

I don't get why VRB used 2 days on C1 and C2

Redbull have not put the car at top speed when we get to see it we are in for a big surprise, the car is going to be fast very fast. No question about it

As Lewis will be cut off from Mercedes and Sainz at Ferrari sometime this season, the negative impact of the Horner issue on RBR wins could level each other out, potentially providing McLaren the opportunity to win races. McLaren could be the 2nd team with Lando challenging Max for a race win.

By the way lasts years ranking the ferraris was 4th fastest in pre season testing and amr second fastest and that was obvious during the season.I believe that ferrari is close to red bull in terms of race pace since they werw fastest comparing perez lap times

Let's just hope the TV direction improves so that we get to watch the midfield battles unfolding rather than watching podium cars going around on their own. The McLaren, Aston Martin, Toro Rosso fight looks like it could be tasty if we're allowed to watch it.

Williams are making strong progress in a relatively short period of time. Their future looks bright….The flip side of that, I fear for Alpines.

My bet is that Red Bull will win the Constructors but the margin will be lesser than the previous year. RB will win because of Max's sweet form. I feel this will be Ferrari's year but Sainz will be equally important as Leclerc. Fred is up to the task of managing two *brilliant* drivers. Ferrari's best chance in many many years, fingers crossed

@@LucasMueller18 I'm just going off amus that's pretty much what they found. Redbull, 0.45 slower was Merc, 0.5 Ferrari, 0.55 Aston Martin. Merc had the lowest top speed by 11 km yet Williams was 2nd fastest. So clearly they had their engine way down. Tbh, the truth is no one knows but I'm entitled to give my opinion. Whether it's right or wong we'll know in a few days lol.
