The three guys they keep showing are the three remaining members of led Zeppelin. The drummer on the song is Jason Bonham son of John Bonham who is the drummer that died years back. The tribute was for led Zeppelin. Ann and Nancy Wilson have their own legacy and are worth doing some reaction videos too, but they have been doing led Zeppelin songs as part of their repertoire for decades. Check out barracuda, crazy on You, magic Man, dog and butterfly, alone, keep your Love alive etcetera to understand what heart is about, epic band and epic performance to honor led Zeppelin

Your friend probably (hopefully) shared with you that the drummer here (Jason Bonham) is the son of the deceased Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham. And the 3 old guys in the audience at this Kennedy Center Honors performance were the surviving Zepp members. Also, the 2 females featured were Ann and Nancy Wilson. The sisters from Heart.

The drummer is Jason Bonham who was about 10 years old when his dad, John Bonham died. John was the drummer for Led Zeppelin and this was a tribute to the surviving members at the Kennedy honors. The hat that Jason was wearing (and the choir at the end) was the same type his dad wore. Very emotional and just a top notch performance.

Can you imagine the Wilson girls (Heart) and the stress they had to have been through. They agreed to take on one of the most iconic songs of rock & roll, made famous by one of the most iconic R&R bands of all time...and Ann Wilson NAILED it. She performed a difficult, amazing song, in front of the band that made it great and THEY gave her a standing ovation. Beautiful.

Heart did the song as a tribute to the entire band of Led Zeppelin at an award show at the Kennedy Center. The guy playing drums in the round Bollo hat was the son of Led Zeppelin's original drummer who died many years ago (His name was John Bonham). That son has now grown up and also plays drums and agreed to play drums in this award show representing his father. His name is Jason Bonham.

One of the reasons Robert Plant looked like he was about to cry during the Heart tribute performance was because he had just prior to the show been talking to his bandmates about Jason Bonham, the man playing the drums and who is the son of the Led Zeppelin drummer, the late John Bonham. Robert Plant was best friends with the father, and told his bandmates that he regretted that they had not invited his son Jason to the Kennedy Center Honors to enjoy it on behalf of his Dad. Then he all of a sudden Jason appeared on stage with Heart and Robert Plant was overcome seeing him.

Isn't this the BEST? I don't know who could've done a better cover of it. And from what I understand, Robert Plant, doesn't usually like it when people TRY to do this song, but he was fine with Heart doing it because he knew they would do it justice. LOVED your reaction. Keep checking out Heart if you haven't. They have some of the most classic of classic rock songs ever too. : )

I think from the other comments you know by now who the men in white hair were. This event is held annually in attendance by the President to honour legend from the entertainment industry, this year it was the surviving members of Led Zep and the talk show host David Letterman (they are all wearing the special ribbon find their necks). The whole evening included many other covers of Led Zep songs buy other bands and this cover was the culmination. The ladies on stage have been going as a band (Heart) for some time and Led Zep were their mentors from a young age, believe it or not the lady singing was 60 years old when she did this performance. The original lead singer of Led Zep (the middle man in white hair, River Plant) was the best best friends with the late drummer and hence close to his son Jason. Jason told them he couldn't make this tribute performance sadly, but then he surprised River and the rest of the band by being there that night, playing drums on his dad's actual drum kit and wearing the style of hat his dad wrote. The emotion of all that really got to Robert that night, hence he wells up. The performance was amazing, the choir, the musicians, the vocals, epic. Led Zep were indeed honoured on that night and ever since we have been honoured to watch this, welcome to the club ❤️

Led zepplin fact : four symbols on the label and inside sleeve of Led Zeppelin IV, represent (from left to right) Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, John Bonham and Robert Plant. ... The idea for each member of the band to choose a personal emblem for the cover was Page's."bass drum has johns symbol ."bolo hats worn in honor of john Bonham.

There is an annual event called Kennedy Center Honors which honored a few individuals and groups with a showcase. When we had a real president, that president would show up In this case, Led Zeppelin was honored and Heart was chosen to do the performance. It was a perfect choice as Heart had always been close to the members of Zeppelin. The drummer Jason Bonham is the son of original drummer John Bonham who died when Jason was 10. In the audience in addition to the Obamas were cellist Yo Yo Ma, singers Audra McDonald and Bonnie Raitt and comedian/hosts Jimmie Kimmel and Stephen Colbert. Check out Adam Lambert honoring Cher in a more recent Honors ceremony, sans president.

Nice reaction! This is the three surviving Led Zeppelin members being honoured at the Kennedy Centre in 2012 I think. Various artists performed their songs, and they don't know in advance what to expect, which explains their emotions when seeing it for the first time. "Buddy with the white hair" is Jimmy Page, the Led Zeppelin guitarist, in the middle is Robert Plant their singer and the third one is John Paul Jones their bass player. All three were pretty much the best at what they did, and John Bonham, the Led Zeppelin drummer who died in 1980, is regarded as being the best rock drummer ever. The band ended when he died. As you say, the bowler hats are a tribute to him as he used to wear one from time to time (the band is British after all!) and the drummer here is his son, Jason, which is a nice touch. Well done if you've bothered to read through this, and good luck with getting more subscribers. You deserve it !

Your reaction was the same as mine the first time I heard this cover. I know the original song from when it was first released, but this cover is something else. A grand production, orchestra, choir, the works and the video itself is great quality. This cover does the song justice for sure! I liked that you let this one play through, sometimes it cool to stop and talk a bit here and there, but with a song of this level, letting it go is great! Thanks for sharing your reaction, you seem like a genuine person that's genuinely enjoying music.

The first couple times I saw this I thought Robert Plant wasn't enjoying it as much as Page and John Paul, but I later read that Plant and John Bonham were extremely close, and he looks at Jason as a son. So he was fighting back the tears because he said he didn't want to weep through the entire performance. Also read an interview with Nancy Wilson from a couple days after this appearance, she said she got a lot of accolades but was only worried about Page, John Paul and Plant being ok with her performance. At a big dinner they had afterwards, Plant approached her, and held out his hand and said, "I can't stand that song" Nancy said she almost burst out in tears, Plant realized he spoke ahead of his train of thought and said, "NO NO, I mean I have found it dreadful over the years because it is covered so often, and until tonight, I have never heard it done justice, thank you my lady" and kissed her hand. Nancy said, if I die tomorrow, I've lived a full life with that compliment right there.

There was a interview of Robert where he said he called Jason to invite him to join them at the show, but Jason told Robert he wouldn't be able to attend because he had previous engagement. So when they announce Jason at the very beginning Robert stands and points at him like you sly dog. He wanted to surprise them.

Great reaction to one of the greatest rock anthems in history. Nancy and Ann Wilson really do this tune total justice. If you like amazing female lead singers, try the Finnish Symphonic Metal band Nightwish and their song "Ghost Love Score" from the Wacken Outdoor Festival. This band is wonderful and their female singer, Floor Jansen, is considered to be one of the finest vocalists on this planet. Usually when people hear her sing for the first time they get goose bumps and full body chills. That reaction has been called a "Floorgasm". Keep doing reactions like this one and never stop searching for music that produces personal deep felt emotions. That is what great Art is all about. Enjoy!!!

Hey Rae! My name is Ray too 😂😎 Just became a sub of yours. I am 57, retired and under quarantine. I grew up with this music and for some reason, I get entertainment from watching younger generations react to this stuff. I can see you are very smart and get this kind of genre of music and it's timelessness. Well done! 😍😍😍

This was a really great reaction. It felt really honest... I especially loved the moment the choir was revealed--there was a moment where it seemed like you forgot all about the recording and were just drawn straight into it.

Today marks the 40yr anniversary since John's death. Another heartbreaking fact was Robert Plant and John were best friends since turning teenagers...when the 3 other members learned/told he died, it was Robert Plant who personally went immediately to John's mother's home to inform her of her son's death...He didn't want her or Jason, the guy drumming in this video that her son and the little boy's father had died. From that second forward, Led Zepplin as a recording, touring, playing together group ceased to exist. All 3 of these closest of friends would not consider any replacement for their best friend John Bonham. If you were not aware of TODAY BEING THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF JOHN'S DEATH...Consider 40 years have passed since Led Zepplin existed and ceased to exist anymore...40 years since That Tragic event and news devastated the rock world...but more importantly family and friends, not just fans. The tragedy occurred during their prime as they were at the pinnacle---just hitting their stride...(Today/Yesterday depending on where are in the world I should have said)...Jason posted a video that someone took of him today @ his father's gravesite...Jason was on his knees today holding onto his father's headstone & it wasn't staged or planned as can tell by that video...although just a child his heart still breaks as can be seen with him @ his father's gravesite... Each year, from the little info there is about this tragedy w respect to Robert Plant...for those of us who have lost family and those close to us it does seem the years have a way of filtering out bad things, the sharpness and depth of pains although always with us just not as debilitating or overwhelming as were initially....time seems to allow us to reach a point where one can cope and live moving forward...However, for whatever reason, Robert Plant still agonizes over his friend's death. I've watched many reaction vids to this specific video and of course the original airing...I'm old and forget so many younger people have no clue who "the old grey hair man" is...That is a Rock n Roll God...a living legend who he and the band are the greatest rock band of all time bar none!!! They were massive influencers of the sisters who sang...Wilson sisters (actually sisters)...in fact, they started off as a Zepplin cover band due to the suddenness of Led Zepplin not touring, recording, performing, or being in public as a "band" ever again until eventually in 2007...they performed one concert with Jason playing the drums..more than 60 million people attempted to get tickets...they have been offered by multi-billionaires such as Richard Branson of Atlantic/Virgin Records & others as much as $250-$300 MILLION DOLLARS to perform just one more concert...they still denied...to them, it is a matter of principle, not money..it would discredit all the years of not doing and they feel, Robert specifically that would be insulting to John and he knew his heart and soul wouldn't be in it... Lastly, the Drum-set, trap-set being used by Jason, from what the rumor mill says, was his father's and not just his father's but the actual set which was used in the studio when recorded Stairway to Heaven...And Yes, Heart nailed it...R Plant was fighting back the tears the entire time...while the God, Jimmy Page was watching and listening to every chord being played especially during the solos...of, not just this one but also of Lenny Kravitz tribute which preceded this one...it was balls to the walls as well... The only thing I did not like or appreciate was the sawed-off, weak, and horrifically bad taste introduction made by Jack Black..he thought he was being funny..but stating those guys are going to hell and will be there is also a contradiction to the meaning behind Stairway to Heaven which involves sincerity, love and can not be bought...something his words could have been written to honor and not push the asshole meter as far as he did...lost all respect for his short fat-ass after that...but that's just me...beyond him, it was amazing
