This is perhaps the greatest tribute to a band so far. It must have been so emotional for Jason Bonham. Most of the time a Heart concert would include a Zep cover, Nancy Wilson is probably one of the most underrated guitarists.

I never saw Zeppelin, but I did see Heart a couple of times in the early 80's. I miss those days and the Great concerts!

The ultimate grand finale is when the curtain rises with the huge choir wearing Bonzo hats belting out the words ! Bravo !

Epic, emotional tribute. Love how they slowly build from Ann and Nancy to the other guitars and Jason Bonham on drums (he’s actually playing his Dad’s drum kit here, while wearing his Dad’s trademark Bowler hat) to the strings, horns, choir and then the bigger choir. When the curtain rises to reveal that full choir - also wearing replicas of John Bonham’s bowler hat - it looks like Plant says “My God” and a giddy Page says “Wow - f*^k!” And then the choir vocalizing at the end to sound like you’re ascending. Just…wow.

I saw them in concert many years ago (still in the hippie days a bit!) :) When I listened to their albums I would just close my eyes. To my surprise, at the concert I did the same...HEAVEN! :)

Touching to see Robert Plant acknowledge Jason Bonham at the conclusion of the song. Fantastic orchestration, it must have taken many rehearsals to achieve this as close to perfect as possible.

In an interview he explains that is why he cried.

Heart started as a Led Zeppelin cover band. Because they could not last long by being just that, they wrote songs and performed them. Doing so paid off! 😃 I ❤ both bands! Oh i was thinking the drummer will have a tough time to approach Bonham level, but Bonham is the perfect pick for that task :)

How's the volume? Crank it up to #11 for me! Seriously though, it always makes me emotional. Jason playing his dad's drum kit and wearing his dad's bowler hat; the choir and their bowlers; the Wilson sisters.... the way it builds to that stunning crescendo.... it doesn't get any better. No wonder the Zep lads were on their feet applauding.

I've been to 9 Heart concerts and I think they covered "Rock & Roll" every time. Check their covers of Led Zeppelin's "The Battle of Evermore" and Elton John's "Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters" too!

I Love Ann and Nancy and I sub to them on Facebook and Facebook. I love this version Ann kills Led Zeppelin. Ann just finished a solo tour and Nancy has a cd out and it's her first solo album. Ann and Nancy still Rocks and Ann sounds great. P.S Heart were on a tour during the summer of 2019. If you want to watch them just for you. Ann still sounds better than the younger singers. I also have their book. Ann is 71 and Nancy 66

Yeah Kravitz did Rock and Roll that same night before Heart

The members of Led Zeppelin wanted Jason to join them in during the show. He had to con his way out of it so he could play drums for this song. At the beginning of the original video for this, Robert Plant about jumped out of his chair when Jason came out on stage. Robert and John Bonham were apparently best friends. I know the hat Jason was wearing was his father’s. I heard the drum set also was his father’s

As a child singer in the sixties I loved Streisand for her vocals but as a teenager in the mid seventies I discovered Ann who had the same dynamics as Barbra but from a rock stance and along with her sister and the songwriting she clearly won the vote for me as best singer and also incredibly underrated I guess that is what happens when you are so good that even the industry is jealous of your talent

The drummer was Jason Bonham, the son of the late John Bonham (a I'm sure other people have already told you). Fun fact, the other member of Led Zeppelin invited him to attend the honours with him but he told them he couldn't go because he had another commitment. The members of Led Zeppelin were totally shocked to see him behind the drums.

You might check out Heart doing Kashmir, also with Jason Bonham on drums. Really good. They have always done a lot of Zeppelin covers. Battle of Evermore is also great. Ann sings and plays guitar! Nancy sings and plays mandolin!

This song was just one of several done that night in tribute to Led Zeppelin. i know Lenny Kravitz, Kid Rock, The Foo Fighters and Jack Black also did stuff. Did you notice David letterman sitting next to Page? There is another video somewhere or another where you can see him better. Yes, Heart did a very good live version of Rock and Roll but I think that was in the 90's. Heart idolized Led Zeppelin and often did cover versions of their songs in concert. If your a heart fan you should check out the book I think Nancy put out awhile back. it was very interesting.

You would be correct! I know very little about LZ other than the songs that got radio play. The Instruments you see belong to my husband. He is 4 years my jr and still knows more about a lot of music than I do! But, that doesn't mean that I don't enjoy it and LOVE finding these old songs and making them new again! At least to me. Yes of course I've heard the song before, many times and HEART is my favorite female Rock band of all time! (Followed closely by The Warning now).
