Yes. Led Zep were told that no one from the Bonham family would be at the Kennedy Center to represent Bonzo. That was a smokescreen to cover for bringing Jason onstage and then featuring the choir with the hat tribute to John. Both were surprises for the band. As others have mentioned, Bonzo was Robert's best friend, and Robert considers himself a father figure to Jason. Robert later said he was thinking of the senselessness of Bonzo's loss abd how much he wished John could be there to see Jason play abd to hear the tribute himself. He was holding on to powerful emotions, which he let go the moment Annie crushed that note at "to be a rock abd nit to RRRROOOOLLLLL." Thst was why he couldn't smike until.the end. But he was the first one up for the standing ovation. We can'r even write moments this beautiful.

Great choice, the best tribute they deserved. Fabulous, I've watched this video hundreds of times and it always brings tears to my eyes. To see the smiling and proud faces of John Paul and Jimmy Page contrasting with the sad and pensive look of Plant, God. What was he thinking, maybe remembering the first time he performed this masterpiece. How lucky are those of us of a certain age to grow up with music as creative and of such a level as it was done in the sixties and seventies. I love you reaction . Keep on rocking, beautiful ❤ I'm 62. Greetings from Barcelona

They killed it....that guitar solo wasn’t Jimmy page....they needed to bring out a whole orchestra to recreate it. That’s the greatness of Led Zeppelin!

Robert Plant was trying to hold back tears. I watched him push his tongue into the side of his mouth but he couldn't help it. A very emotional moment. A beautiful tribute to Led Zep. Edit to say: I love your reactions. Jason Bonham was on drums, son of John Bonham, that's one of the reasons it was such a beautiful tribute

lol I think Robert was just so moved and into it, thus he didn't show emotion til the end....he's a big fan of Heart (and Ann Wilson's voice) so he was too overwhelmed to show any emotion (he was too busy taking it in).

Every year, the Kennedy Center (Washington DC) gives tribute to several people. In addition to Led Zeppelin, there were several others who were honored. Generally, the President does come to them. Also in the audience were several people in the Senate or House as well as people like Jimmy KimmelI and Bonnie Raite (sic). You may have noticed that David Letterman (who was also being honored that night) was sitting beside Jimmy Page. Loved your reaction!!!
