I'm not saying the singing didn't factor into it at all, but I'm pretty sure the tears had more to do with the tribute to John Bonham between Jason and the bowlers on the chorus singers. Robert Plant and John Bonham were extremely close, and Bonham's death hit him the hardest out of the entire group

@@ALeafOnTheWind42 There is a longer version of this tribute that really explains a lot of this. A tribute to the band plus Foo Fighters, Kid Rock, Lenny Kravitz, How Plant wasn't an emotional wreck at that point astonishes me. Here is a link... it's a pretty good 22 minutes. Of course, Ann and Nancy finished him off! kzread.info/dash/bejne/pJVhy9aNe9Gskdo.html

For the younger viewers who may not know the background. This was a Kennedy Center honours night for Led Zeppelin. The surviving members, John Paul Jones, Robert Plant and Jimmy Page are the three older men sitting in the balcony watching their work being honoured. Drummer John Bonham died in 1980. In a beautiful twist, that is John Bonham's son Jason playing the drums. The camera caught the perfect moment at the end when Ann sang "and she's buying a stairway to heaven". As she sang "to heaven" you can see Jason glance skyward to his father. It was a beautiful moment and a masterful arrangement.

I now have a signed bowler and rest-assured I wore it for the concert! And...I wasn't ten feet away from Ann and Nancy when they broke out the ukes and did a rockin Battle of Evermore. What a performance! Ann and Nancy Wilson have always been huge Zeppelin fans, and showed tribute to at least one, sometimes more Zep songs in their Heart shows. It was really special seeing them here, performing Stairway to Heaven with Led Zeppelin in the audience watching them. Brought tears to my eyes first time I saw it.

Their version of "The Battle of Evermore" is all kinds of awesome. They played it under the name The Lovemongers as a side project to Heart. You just gotta love how Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page are enjoying the song so much and, at the end, when Jason Bonham blows them a kiss and the Wilson sisters wave to them you can tell they're proud of their mate Bonzo's son and of the great rendition of their song.

Heart was created and is anchored by two of the most talented women to ever take the stage, and this performance was absolutely incredible...in fact, Led Zepplin has never liked or supported any other artists covering this song, this was the first they gave their approval to, it's that good....notice that Asian cat @6:20, know who that is? He's one of if not THE most accomplished classically trained cellists to ever walk this planet, his name is Yo-Yo Ma, and for him to be diggin what Heart and the band is doin with a Zepplin tune, speaks VOLUMES....
