Seen Led Zeppelin 2 times, once in 1977 on April 1, 1977 Toronto, at the Maple Leaf Gardens, then on October 17 , 1980 in Montreal, at the Montreal Forum, and my best friend bought tickets for Robert Plant's solo tour on June 10, 1985 at The Pacific Coliseum, Vancouver, BC, Canada!! Led Zeppelin are truly amazing live and so sexy!! Robert Plant during his solo tour was amazing as well and just as sexy , like fine wine he ages so well! Had front row tickets to all 3 shows!! Going to see Robert on Wednesday Aug 14, 2024 at 7:00 PM at The Queen Elizabeth Theatre Vancouver, BC Can't wait!!! ❤️🥰🤘

The movie was shot at Madison Square Garden on the last dates of the 1973 US tour, on July 27, 28, & 29. It’s amazing Robert Plant never had trouble with maintaining his voice, especially since he was a cigarette and marijuana smoker. After I smoke even a little pot my voice gets hoarse and my throat gets very dry. During the movie after one of the songs someone in the audience hands Plant a big joint, and he holds it for everyone to see, then walks offstage with it.

BEST BAND EVER.

Back before auto tune, when singers could really sing, not just in the studio with all the tricks of today. That's why the older groups sold out arenas and stadiums across the world. They were just as good live as they were on their albums.

And they continue to to this day. It's a big reason why 70 year old bands like Genesis arenas and stadiums in 2021. They simply play great music that crosses generations and never gets old, and can play just as good live if not better than on the album. The thing about real musicians in a real band, is that, on an album you are limited to space and time constraints. When you play live, you are not. So Zeppelin could go on for 15 minutes in the solo for Stairway at some shows when they were limited to the 8:00 on the album.

Robert Plant and Jimmie Page were so beautiful!!! And the talent of the group has not been surpassed.

Back in "the day," rock groups made lots of money doing concerts. They had to sound good live! Led Zeppelin was one of the best to see live!

Robert sings: "The piper's calling you to join him" and points to Jimmy who IS the piper.

@@brianrussell6570 OOPS Clifton agreed that the MSG footage wasn’t good enough, and pushed to re-create the concert of a soundstage inside Shepperton Studios, where the band would mime to their actual prior performance. There, under the studio roof in Surrey, Led Zeppelin apparently preened and strutted and sweated for an audience of only a few people, and this footage was intercut with wide shots from Madison Square Garden to make for a seamless viewing experience. There are tells, though: bassist and keyboard player John Paul Jones had cut his hair and had to wear a wig in the reshoots. Similarly, Robert Plant has bad teeth in some of the shots, and pristine teeth in others.

Led Zepp is the absolute top "bomb", this one is so classic! Watch the tribute from 2012 Heart did for them...absolutely amazing to experience!! Fire!!!

Saw them live at Newcastle City Hall 1973. My mates and I were 18. We were totally blown away by their brilliance, and almost deaf on the coach going back home to Teesside. Best night of my life.

You have got to see Kashmir live from Knebworth 1979. Robert’s vocals are superb, and the drum fills! Just a year or even less later, Bonzo died, RIP.

Same concert, Madison Sq. Gardens, they closed with Whole Lotta Love. Amazing! Including Bohnam and fire.

I love his hand movements! Yes, he knew that he was hot. And notice during Jimmy Paige's solo, Robert picked up the tambourine and kept jamming. Never took a break.

Life is too short to waste on negativity. I "know" those who were involved and I feel you are all wonderful, kind human beings. I was fortunate enough to have seen them live several times in the 70's. Bands and singers from this era didn't have auto-tune. They all sounded great live. The music stands the test of time, great review Jayy!

Elvis stopped a show one time to jokingly tell his band members to sharpen up because Led Zeppelin was in the house (Elvis's band was top notch though) :-), Also Plant references Elvis in a few songs as well and even sings his songs live, you are right they had a lot of respect for one another thats for sure.

@@terryross1032 It might be at that same show you're talking about, where as they were leaving Robert starts singing "Treat me like a fool, treat me mean and cruel" as he's walking away..... then Elvis yells out to Robert to stop, peaks his head around the door from the dressing room, and sings back "buuuuut love me" If I was there for that moment, I could have probably died and gone to heaven and been ok with that.

That would have been a sight to behold. I myself have been lucky enough to meet AC/DC, straight away Angus asked me what I wanted to drink, then I got to know them for a brief period for their initial tour of England, even looking after a crate of Whisky lined small Coke bottles at a concert (imbibing myself of course!) with Bon Scott passing me drinks across the stage!. Had a drink with Jack Bruce at the Chelsea Drugstore, and went on a pub crawl with Davy Jones of the Monkees, around the King's Rd, Chelsea All lovely people I must say. Memories.

Elvis did have surprisingly varied tastes in music: rock, hard rock, acid rock, country, soul, rhythm and blues, gospel. When I went on a tour of Graceland one of the rooms had lots of stereo equipment and a huge record collection. Someone in our tour group was wearing a Led Zeppelin t-shirt and asked the tour guide if Elvis was a Led Zep fan. She said he loved Led Zep and had every album.

Can we get her to break this rule again and watch Hearts tribute to this song???? Please lol

If you've wondered what it was like a Led Zeppelin concert, then I have to recommend the famous bootleg recording "Listen to this Eddie" of Zep from the summer of 1977 (June 21, 1977). Listen to (and react to!) "The Song Remains the Same", the opening number from the concert. It is a remarkable moment. The audience and the music are ONE. There are many posts of this recording on youtube. Enjoy!

One of the things I miss from when I was a kid, was the fact that when you went to the concerts live, they would often play variations of the songs, and it was not always the same. Starting around the nineties it seems through, the Alternative movement seemed to be just a carbon copy, live or on the albums. How I miss the days of Floyd, Zeppelin, the early days of Metallica, Deep Purple, and so many more from then.

We had it good as teens in the seventies. While I never got to see Zeppelin live back then, they played Madison Square Garden a few times in the seventies, I did have the poster from this concert of Robert and Jimmy with that double neck guitar, hanging on my bedroom wall. And yes John is beating that drum kit like it owes him money. If you heven't seen or done a reaction to the "Kennedy Center Honors Led Zeppelin", Heart does an outstanding cover of this song and John's son Jason is playing the drums just like dad did!

At this time they were on top of the world and they knew it and it shows.

Jimmy doesn't "play guitar." He channels emotion.

Real talent .... needs no enhancement. Plus, RP is amazing eye candy.

Jayy Thank you for this. I'm so glad you experienced the filmed version. The thing about LZ is live performances are wholly a different experience from studio as you said - they improvise live and a song is not performed the same way twice. I understand you don't react to the same song twice, but I suggest you should make an exception for LZ. I know you're a Robert girl (😁 I saw that look. . . .) BUT This is one of the BEST Jimmy Page solos ever!!! IN THE ZONE!! There's a whole body of audio recorded LZ concerts that give you the live performance and a few filmed concerts from 1969 though 1980. Hope you'll check out somethings from those. Happy to provide links if you want. 😁☮

It sounds so amazing live because back then you didn’t make it unless you had real talent and that went for the entire band. No one made who was manufactured behind the scenes because of something other than their talent.

Best guitar solo of all time.

Next, I would suggest the band Heart doing this song live at the Kennedy Center, in front of the surviving members and Obama at their Honors concert.

I agree @luca ...apparently Robert Plant stated that his mother was gypsy (Romany)... (that's why he says he has that thick hair lol)...as a rule Gypsies are known to be soulful musically... in fact I think Roberts daughter Carmen is a gypsy/ belly dancer...😊
