I was part of the choir for this show, it was an amazing experience. Dave Grohl was on drums for all the rehearsals, so it was a surprise to everyone when Jason Bonham came out for the final performance. Also, this video has footage both from the dress rehearsal, and the live performance. After the show was over, Stephen Colbert came up to me and 2 of my fellow choir members to tell us that we did a great job, it was surreal. Choral arrangement was done by Rob Mathes, and our chorus director is Joyce Garrett. Our choir was also at Obama's inauguration, Bruce Springsteen Super Bowl, and every Christmas in Washington performance on TNT, until it was canceled. We were drawn from a lot of different sources around the DC area, including some former High School choirs after we all graduated, some church choirs, and eventually some University of Maryland choir members. We rehearsed every day including weekends for about 3 weeks for this, and for most of our performances

Thank you for your part in this wonderful performance. The overall arrangement was just perfect, the layers being added at all the right points, with the final reveal of the full choir at the height of the vocal build a perfect capstone.

From what I understand, Robert Plant (the lead singer of Led Zep sitting in the middle), he usually didn't like it when people did covers of this song, but he was fine with Anne Wilson doing it because he knew she would do it right. Anne has the voice to do it, obviously. Not all singers could do it justice like she did.

Do you know this song is santic it has a message in it playing it backwards. This what it says. Hear why its sung here, oppositioner.. Allll on track, all arriving They all sing, and they are one. Shall I loathe you now, parishoner? Oh hear Him, Christian within me. It stirs my sin; the river, Oh, she swells with our lousiness. All my life will end for him? We’re all out of signs, I know I’m sorta shocked To hear The Lord, My God now will save me! Oh I will n’er be saved, Because I live with Satan.. One wish today; That you’ll all pray for Three who will make it here late. Pray now and you’ll see.. The ‘Lord’ turned me on, But, oh, I was the shaggy fool.. Clothed in agony, Lost at a height. There’s no escaping it, Nor his woes.. So here’s to my Sweet Satan. The other’s little path Would make me sad, Whose power is faith. He’ll give those with him 666. And all the evil fools, they know he made us suffer sadly. Ohohohoh… “Family won’t get loose, They’re offered me.” Always soothes the worker. Always will be as we know now “I see ruins,” said he, “the world they offered me? Who wished the Lord’s fall?” If we lose feather, Say you’ll save me! And no wimps can bend the rules.. And no wimps can do.. Hunt next to the shore, ‘Cause they see all from there, See here’s the news, Who walks with mute grief! Perhaps no-one found thee… “Heavy, lift me out,” Spake the Reve, “Someday, failed, we’ll lose one line-up, They’ve gotta leave forsaken.” And no wimps can do.. And no wimps can do… He, who say the lords Thoth have our laws, Maat must be superb. Mass is ended.. Over there, He who should learn thee. Any moot that serves by my sworn music, I wish it with snow be shushed, All for my mass’s sake. Hear why its sung, here, oppositioner, Ohh.. He who should show May make his show worthy, To look, for us, odd.. sickly, There’s one chance - take his show. Hold thy head, Hear why its sung here. oppositioner. Who owns this earth built below? Oh sweet Israel…

The reason they're so somber at first is that they were overcome with emotion when they saw Jason Bonham, John Bonham's son, on the drums. Robert Plant was upset beforehand because he thought Jason wasn't invited. Plant is trying not to cry the whole time. And the Wilson Sisters of Heart were very close with the band. So just an incredibly moving experience.

this is hands down the best cover of Stairway To Heaven. Nobody like Nancy could ever add this much of feeling to a song that is already overflown with feeling. The fact that she, the band - and also / especially Jason, the drummer at this gig (the son of the late John Bonham) - brought these giants of music to tears ... is just the biggest compliment you could ever ask for as an artist.

I love your reaction and presence, it was appropriate and listening to HEART doing the final cover, it got better and voice is still amazing. I thought a woman doing it was like eehhh, but later i read the article that Robert plant went over to her, during a banquet, and said it was his favorite cover from all others he didn’t like from that song...

Wearing of bowler hats, paying homage to a British band and yes, the guys the camera kept going to are the surviving band members of Led Zeppelin. The song was released in 1971 - 50 years ago! Some music is timeless. Love your videos, XXX.

This event was an evening set up to honor Led Zeppelin for their music they have given us. Those three older gentlemen are the surviving members of LZ, some 40 years later. The gentleman on the drums is the son of the original drummer John Bonham, who when he died caused the band to dissolve. He plays exactly like his dad. Robert Plant seems close to tears as he listens to this. He said it was because he was thinking about John. I believe him, since they were all very close friends and remain so today. Quite a tribute to them, especially as it culminates with this performance by Heart. Both ladies have remarked at how nervous they were to be performing this live in front of these guys. The fact that the president was there was not the cause of their apprehension. They nailed it!!!!!!! Quite a tribute in America for an English band! You should watch the whole tribute and even Obama makes some remarks on how great they were and their influence on so many. Many other great performers and musicians are present in the audience including Stephen Colbert, Yoyo Ma - a great cellist, David Letterman and several actors including Al Pacino. You should check out Led Zeppelin's live version of this at Madison Square garden from 1973 to also see how this should be done LIVE!

I saw Heart in 2013, at a small ampitheater on the SDSU campus. So it was the year following the Kennedy Center thing. They called it the "Heartbreaker Tour". Jason Bonham's Zeppelin cover band opened for Heart, so I figured they'd do an encore with Jason... maybe a couple of Zep songs... It turned out that Heart's entire second set was ALL Zeppelin songs with Jason on drums! It was INCREDIBLE!

The two ladies on the stage are sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson. They formed the rock band Heart. Ann is the lead vocalist and Nancy plays guitar and is also great at vocals as well. Barracuda and Crazy On You by Heart are two good starter songs if you wanna check them out. BTW Ann was 62 when she did this performance.

Heart has been called the female version of Led Zeppelin. The lady sitting behind and in-between John Paul and Robert Plant is the writer of the song the great Carol King.

Hello, my dear Empress. Thank you for reacting to this one. It holds a special place in my life as I grew up seeing Heart before they were famous. When I was 13, they played at my high school as well as many shows all over the city. They were the perfect choice for this song for several reasons, not the least of which is Ann Wilson's wonderful voice. When Heart first started out, they played a beautiful blend of Gypsy style music with Rock, most especially I always heard a strong Led Zeppelin influence in their early shows. From what I understand, Led Zeppelin singer, Robert Plant, has never been fond of anyone else playing this song as most never seem to grasp the emotion of it. To see him teary-eyed and appreciative of one of my teenage favourites is a joy, indeed. The added bonus of Jason Bonham on drums, the son of Zep's former bandmate, certainly added to his emotional reaction. But it's more than just that. The bowler hats in respect of their fallen partner, the choir, even to the restraint of the performance. Heart and the rest of the show never once tried to outdo the original. They played it their own way, and still gave it the respect it deserved. Beautiful! ♥
