Rabies Prevention - Vaccinating Animals and Post-Exposure Prophylaxis

Rabies can be prevented by vaccinating dogs and avoiding animals that carry the virus, like bats and raccoons. If one is bitten by a rabid animal, post-exposure prophylaxis (rabies vaccine and immune globulin) can prevent the disease. For more videos and questions, visit - www.macrophage.co. good video! this is my bat awareness comment. please read. we had found a bat in our house. we were able to place it in a plastic ziplock bag and get it tested. results came back as the bat was too composed. we found it in daylight. health department said to go for the rabies shots because we do not know if we were bitten. this was very traumatic for our child who is in pre-k. if I could do one thing over again, it would have been as soon as we found the bat.. to start the vaccination process. we had to wait over the weekend to get the results so that was difficult. the thought process of waiting was killing me.

I had 5 bats get in my house somehow and I went downstairs at night for a drink. I was swarmed by all of them and didn't know if I was bitten. All bats eventually got out of the house so they couldn't be tested. I was absolutely terrified during treatment. 7 years later, I'm still here.

If that is your domesticated pet dog, observe any changes in your pet and have a self quarantine observation for your dog for 10 days and in a max of 14 days, if he remains healthy and without sign of clinical rabies, you don't need to panic about having rabies but having vaccine will give you protection and immunity against the virus.

They left my T-shirt all muddy and a little scratch on my hand. When I got home, my mom noticed it and insisted me to get a vaccine and titenus shot for any bacterial infection . Well I didn't thought that a little bit of scratch would not get me rabbis. So, I took the Titenus shot only and let go the Vaccines. I think nothing is necessary for a little bit of dog scratch if the dogs are from your neighborhood and friendly.
