Amazing how this card holds up, its a bit crazy that the Sapphire Tri-X R9 290X OC version is selling for 200 bucks right now in the UK.

In France is betwen 150 and 180 ( more is crazy people) But 200 pounds isn't a lot for this gpu? I think a 980 is better if you can find it for this price.

@@zebench1 Back in the day the R9290X was the 980 equivalent yeah but the 980 was ever so slightly better but not by much! and yes 200 bucks is a lot for a R9270X but the mentioned above version was reeeeealy good almost pumped out 15/20% more performance than all the other R9290X'S

@@demontongue9893 Even 2 mouths ago 290 was selling at just over £100 or lower as I've had my eye on ebay to buy a new one but I got a 290x for £76. I love these cards my 290 did everything well for my needs hoping my new 290x keeps me going till I can buy something better.

I bought this graphics card and im so happy right now,because i've played on uhd graphics for 1 year

@@foreignerdan8929 honestly I don't pay too much attention to it. But you can calculate. Take you're city or country electricity price. And take the power consumption ( normally 250 w) take for example 4h of gaming and 250w/h x 4= 1 kwh and compare it to the price. I think isn't that much normally. Actually I have a gtx 980ti so it's consume 250. But with oc 300 and more.

Absolutely same situation!)))) A was playing games on Intel hd graphics 2000. It is pain!))) After, i buying 290x but 4gb (i was not know about 8gb version)

Thanks for this test. This kind of video takes lots of time to do.

@@zebench1 I make a test with 14 games testing the performance of Xeon L5640 OC @4.2ghz with a 1660S, i know how hard is to make a video like this. Thanks for share you results. I show your video to my client that you buy a cheap 290X to build a machine to play some games.

I just got sapphire tri-x 290 4gb for 44 USD. It's my first GPU and idk if it's a good or bad purchase.... I've heard r9 290 can get really hot so is there any way i can make it less. I'm more into apex legends and genshin impact only, maybe games like the Witcher 3, Skyrim, valorant sometimes.

Damn I actually have the 8gb version of this card just wrapped up in bubble wrap sitting around lol, mainly because I had gotten a 1060 after that, then recently a laptop 2060. Might break it out then just to see how it does!

The 8gb version, you are lucky ;). And now you have a laptop with a 2060 huge upgrade.

It is a very good card ! For best performance with latest game (ex : halo infinite), you can install modded driver.

Yeah I have read something about that, for all r9 cards and fury the performance in halo infinite can be x2

290x have same performance like 1060 6gb, rx 570 etc. The only question is price and power consumption.I bought my 290x in 2017 for 87,5 us dollars.

Yeah the performance are close but I thinl the gtx 1060 is better ( I talk only about performance) because with the drivers + architecture the 1060 is better and get extra performance in actual games and more in newer games. But the difference between this cards isn't that much

R9 290x or gtx 1650?

It's funny, but i have same GPU - sapphire r9 290x. But, with core clock 880 mhz & 1600 memory clock. In SOTR have almost always 60 fps (Vsync limit, don't need more) almost max graphic settings. 55-60° C°

So lower core clock but higher m.m. But you have better fps in higher graphics settings. Strange, the temperature can be explained because you have a lower core clock but the performance, I don't know how you can get higher fps. In other games you have same fps? Or better

@@zebench1 i was talking about Tomb Raider))) Other games plus/minus the same. As i say - i locked FPS on 60, and always have 60 (99% times). Now i want to look at fresh God ow War.)) Actually, i mount water cooling kit on GPU and aluminium micro radators on mem banks. =) Can overclocking card to 1100 gpu core and 1725 memory.

​@@zebench1 Not really in all games, but yes in the most actuals, a good example is in Halo Infinite, without these drivers you should obtain 30 or 40 fps, but with the modded drivers its run on 60 or more

Jouer a des ptit jeux et encore ce qui est problématique c'est le processeur, c'est un deux cœur ce qui va te donner beaucoup de freeze dans n'importe quel jeux sauf minecraft.

PURE OVER HEATING GARBAGE = R9 290x crap... They burn out .... Never buy this card.. Unless it's that massive Sapphire R9 290x 3 fan Monster..4 G Card.. Even then it's still a horrible failure .. Ge the Lower end X models you'll be fine like the MSI R9 280X OC & my favorite ASUS R9 270X OC which is Outstanding..

In big game 80 degres in avg, isn't a garbage. And is you I think a year ago you tell me that r9 290x is a strongh gpu etc...

Listen I love your post and great Video and wow when it works great performer ! You just got lucky and got that one that works 1 of the 10% that didn't fail out of 90% with issues and burnout ! Most got returned & or scraped !!!! .. Only Sapphire later came out with a massive heat sink 3 fan version that actually survived. But they had fan failures and problems to. BUT THIS CARD IR9 290X IS AND OVER HEATING DISASTER!!!! It will burn your HDMI cable and is a Piece of pure shit! and the card will fail and die ! It's a fire hazard and piece o of serious scorching hot shit .. ATI should have never released this stupid crappy card the R9 270X OC ASUS card was outstanding cool and a great performer! The MSI OC high end R9 280X 3 G was and outstanding power house and also ran cool and great with a dual fan open massive heat sink. R0 290X 4G single fan jet sounding version 90% have failed and burnt!!!! Those are facts ! Never buy this card used you'll be scam and buying crap.

Yeah I now this gpu can get very hot, I had this sapphire triple fan and the r9 290 blower stock, and the 2 r9 280x asus. The hitter is the r9 290 blower, after the r9 280x I don't what and the cooler one for me is the r9 290x sapphire

I have asus direct cu model which was one of the hotter ones and it still kicks fine even with slight overclocking. after all the years :D Just finished control at 1440p medium and it was running smooth at ~60 :D Winter is quite cold here so additional heating comes as a feature :D
