r/Entitledparents I GOT COVID, SO GIVE ME YOUR HOUSE!

r/Entitledparents OP's cousin is a single mother of a 5-year-old, and that kid was exposed to someone with Covid. Unfortunately, the cousin also lives with her grandparents, so it's not safe for them to stay in that home anymore. So what's her' solution? She tells OP that she deserves to have his house because her 5-year-old "would just die without wifi and tv." So, her argument is literally, "We have Covid, so give me your house!"

    My poor son grew his hair out when he was 9. He did it for halloween, but kept it because he liked it. He looked really cool. Then, everyone called him a girl, despite him wearing boy clothes. Like graphic tees and board shorts. He's usually very comfortable in his own skin. It killed me to watch that crumble. Finally one day he asked me to cut his hair. I left it up to him, and said it's his hair. Whatever makes him comfortable. That was almost 3 years ago. He's wanted his hair very short ever since.

    A very similar thing happened to me at that age. I'm girl and I got a bad case of lice so my hair to be cut into a very short pixie cut. I LOVED having it like that. When I went back to school, everyone called me a boy. Even teachers called me that. A few years ago I cut my hair that short again and I've had it that way ever since. I hope your son can come to like growing his hair out again

    Frankly, I think "Princess" is a dumb name for anyone. It's a title, not a name. "Anya" is a much better name! And "Onion" is a cute nickname, on par with parents calling their children (usually daughters) "Pumpkin". Typically, the kind of person who names a dog "Princess" is the kind who also dresses up the poor animal in "adorable" (gack!) outfits, carries it around, and talks about their "precious furbaby". And brings it into places like restaurants and grocery stores. Alternately, it's an ironic name for large dogs who look nothing like what one would associate with that name. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and mine is that dogs and cats deserve the DIGNITY of having real names.

When I was younger around 6 or 7 I had really short pixie cut hair, I was at a bob Evans one day wearing a pink shirt and jeans, I walked to the bathroom and before I could enter a woman stopped me and said this is the women's restroom, I said I know I'm a girl, she looked me up and down rolled her eyes and walked away, she didn't apologize or anything. As I child I didn't really understand but now that I'm older I realize the way she treated me was wrong.

He hasn't gotten it cut in a little over two years. Now he has a head of long blonde, thick beautiful hair that goes about half way down his back and was blessed with his father's long eye lashes. Whenever we go out in public and have to wear masks he is mistaken for a little girl. Sometimes they people think it's funny and sometimes they are in denial, like a boy can't have long hair or something.

    To be honest - this Jeremy Johnson who likes high room temperatures sounds like a DREAM come true in terms of coworkers. I have low blood pressure whenever I'm not moving around, so I get cold a lot. And I have a sedentiary office job. Working with a guy who likes above-average temperatures while working sounds neat.

  • @KarmaCifer
    @KarmaCifer3 жыл бұрын

    I am one of those rare individuals that love summer and hate AC. I don't understand why a guy that has a jacket on puts the AC on cold instead of just taking off his jacket while I just have a thin shirt. It makes no sense to me to tell to the person that is cold to put on a sweater instead of telling the people with jackets and suits on to just take it off. But if everyone is with just shirts and it's hot then I understand that they put the AC on cold for an hour to quickly cool the room and then raise the temperature a little so it maintains at a decent temperature without going to 20° for the whole room (that is hella cold, 25 is the universal perfect temperature for an enjoyable day). So in this case, if the office is open and even with AC the heat enters and you need to continually cool the room, yeah, put it on lower temperature so overall it stays at 23-25 degrees, but if the office is closed and isolated, then just wait for the room to cool and then raise it to 23-25° or it will end up in 20° and that is hell. I don't like sweating too, but a little warmth in the skin is enjoyable, feeling like I'm inside of an igloo in summer when I want to feel warm (not horribly hot, just warm), free and fresh is horrible and it stresses me immensely. In my country, most offices abuse AC and everyone gets sick for the temperature changes. So I don't support the shitty behavior of the entitled man and that he just goes over anyone without caring for the rest, but I don't like that, in my experience, people who easily get cold and enjoy warmth are pushed out or told to conform instead of finding a point comfortable for all.

    We had the opposite office problem. We had seven post menopausal women and we kept the office cool but the maintenance guy, who wasn’t based in our office, would turn up the heat every time he came to our building. When we told him to stop he called us crazy old women, he was actually our age, and then put a lock box over the thermostat! Our boss, also a post menopausal woman, reamed him out and threatened to fire him, made him take the lock off and made him apologize.

    I teach an enrichment program at local schools. One day, I was working with a kindergarten class (approx. 3 years old) for an outdoor adventure. One little boy tripped and fell and cried about it. Only the male teacher (MT) and I saw what had happened (other teachers and parents were there but with kids in other areas of the schoolyard). The MT got to the boy before I did, and insisted the little - 3 year old! - kid 'get up, stop crying, and be a man'. I was horrified. I first told the child that it was absolutely OK to cry if we are upset, and falling down is upsetting. I added that it is OK whether we are girls or boys because crying is what humans do. I then, in front of the kid scolded the teacher for saying such a silly thing (for something minor I would NEVER chastise a teacher in front of the students but in this case, the child needed to see this MT was wrong). MT tried to argue with me, but I just told the child to ignore the teacher (again something I would never normally do), took the boy by the hand and led him back to the rest of the group. Later, during the recess break, I spoke to the teacher who had arranged my visit to her school. I explained what happened, that I had tried to tell the MT he was wrong, but that MT just doubled down. The teacher I spoke to rolled her eyes. It turned out MT was a sub, they already had a bad feeling about him, and were not surprised to hear he behaved in this way. This teacher promised to speak to MT, and to also blackball him from coming back to that school as a sub. This is a school that I have worked at and a teacher I had worked with before, and the teachers there really care about their kids so I believe that this teacher kept her word. Bad news also for MT - the education world where I live is a small one. It won't be long before word of his toxic attitudes gets out to other schools.

    There’s more to that cousin asking to stay in her house for two weeks: depending on what state you’re in, if a guest stays consecutively for an X amount of time, they become a resident. That quarantine period she was asking to “stay” in her house, would have made her a resident after anywhere between 10-14 days, while simultaneously telling OP to move in with her parents during that time, essentially making OP a resident in his/her parents home.

    Lol about the dog. Many years ago whilst out with my 5 year old daughter, Emma, I was confronted by a woman immediately after I called out my daughter's name in the local grocery store. "I call my dog Emma" she said "You can't give a little girl a dog's name it's cruel and the children at school will make fun of her" she continued on. I told the woman not to be so silly, Emma was quite a popular name for a girl and an unusual name for a dog. She went off the rails there and then. "My dog isn't unusual, she's a pure bred chocolate labrador, I'm going to tell her breeder how stupid you are for naming your little girl after my dog" I then asked the woman how old her dog was and she told me "Two years just" I chuckled aloud and told the woman how silly she was a second time because my daughter just happened to be five years old so she couldn't possibly be named after her dog. Just to wind her up a little bit, I suggested she change her dog's name because I didn't like the idea she gave her dog my daughter's name and if she refused to do so, I would go and tell the registrar. She looked visibly worried as she hurried from the shop. Every time after that incident when taking my own dogs for a walk I always looked for a woman accompanied by a female chocolate labrador that wasn't named Emma. :)
