interesting at 6:23 you can see that john started to move his hand first but very slowly, it nearly seems as if hank just reacts to the motion in a faster manner. But at 6:54+ both seem to have a quite different perception of the situation. interesting :). (or wait did he refere to the speed with which he move the hand? then i take it back ^^) (also he plays for anna, as the character in *the* book, in the book TfioS :D +Them Puns)

So before the last question I paused and wondered, how many he _should_ wager - I guessed 301. I have no words for the relieve I felt when I saw that number on his card. John chose good, but somehow irritating. Here's what they chose and possible scenarios: 1100 +/-301 = 1401 v 799 700 +/-401 = 1101 v 299 Here's how you get 301/ the mathematically solution: There are two options each (right/wrong) i.e. 2² = 4 possible scenarios: 1. Hank's right (H,r); John's right (J,r) 2. Hank's wrong (H,w); John's wrong (J,w) 3. H,r ; J,w 4. H,w ; J,r Considering J,r How many bucks could he reach? 700 * 2 = 1400 If H,w, he can't beat that. Personally, I think being represented by John was best because (although I love Hank a lot) John said the name of the contestant repeatedly and "talked to" her so as she watches it (over and over) she can like entirely geek out about it. Also, she'll get some consolation prizes, so it's not like she doesn't get anything at all out of it. (Although it would be worth it either way).

You know, a Family Feud version would be really cool. John and the Yeti (and Henry, maybe) vs Hank and Katherine, trying to get the answers to multi-answer questions (i.e. name an element in the fourth period of the periodic table). That could be really fun! :D Only problem is that John and Hank aren't always in the same place at the same time, so they'd need to bring in different teams. Like Ried and Caitlin, or Emily and Jessie (or Jessie and her husband, if he wants to be on camera). Maybe guests sometimes, like Craig or Destin (Wheezywaiter and Smarter Every Day host), etc. Green brothers, I give you my 100% express permission to unashamedly steal this idea and make it real with no credit to me! I just want to see it ;D

I swear on my life that John and Hank together on videos are one of the few things on the internet that actually make me laugh out loud. A lot of things are funny in this place, but that kind of funny where you don't feel compelled to make face expressions, just laugh inside your head. But with those two I just can't help but genuinely laugh. You're both awesome.

Hello there! - geologist here. Your normal fault diagram shows a subduction zone which is not actually a normal fault at all. Subduction zones are on a much larger scale than faults and if you think about the relative displacement of the rock in the overriding continental crust with respect to the subducting oceanic crust then you actually have a reverse fault (although this still is not the best way of putting it.) A better way of describing the difference between normal and reverse faults is that normal faults are where typically younger rock slides down to rest adjacent to older rock, whereas reverse faults are generally where older rock is pushed upwards to rest next to younger rock. Great episode anyway though guys!

I sooo love this channel. Not only do I learn a little about science and humour - I mostly learn about human psychology (and show-man-ship, Hank) so beautifully.

Well this is embarrassing because my own mother's name is Kathryn Johnson but I didn't think of that because she goes by Kathy and I also call her mom. oops. after watching both of yalls educational formats for some time now, this was by far one of the funniest videos i have seen of youtube. thanks to the both of you for what you do. i "get smarter every day" XD

Xylem goes up (with water and dissolved minerals). Phloem goes down (with sugar).

Wait until you're out of grade school. Once you stop using that stuff, you totally forget it. I'm in second year physics and astronomy, and I can't speak French anymore. I spent 8 years learning French in high school and I couldn't make a coherent sentence in French if I tried.

I'm so excited there was a Katherine Esau question! I still have her Plant Anatomy text book from my college days in the 1970s - WHAT a great book.
