WOW your freehand line on the FW 190D was brilliant! Thanks for the review. I am new to airbrushing and have the fengda 130k and 180k but have only been working with the 130k. i just unpacked the 180k and was a little overwhealmed. Grüße from Deutschland

The guy at the Mystic Airbrush channel does Amazing work and uses that brush exclusively.

If buget is a concern and you are willing to sacrify some quality on the non-paint (ie quality fell and control smoothness) elements of an airbrush, you can buy a head set and needle from iwata and a Fengda body and build your own half iwata. That is what I did and it works great.

BTW, I also lub it and beewaxed all thread, so that improve the quality feel and tightness of all moving parts a lot.

That's an interesting idea, and should work perfectly since the parts that need to be precise are the ones you've changed. I gave mine away though so I cannot test the theory for myself.. Which model of Iwata parts did you use, and which Fengda?

Stop believing in the scam. Iwata is a scam. I'm sure those guns perform better and are quality, howver, if Fengda can buy a functinally almost the same product voor like $15, while you sell yours for $200+, then you're running a scam. If budget is a concern, just buy the fengda gun, steer clear of any iwata/badger scams, and simply polish the fengda needle, and be done with it.

I got one from the rainforest company after watching your review and watching the interesting modelling company view on it . What a great airbrush for the price And the fine lines you can get is amazing. I agree that a strip down and lube is needed but I highly recommended for a beginner into airbrushing.

Totally agree. Like an HP-C+ but less refined in build quality. Had my Iwata nicked in a recent burglary, but frankly, with one of these, I'm not in a hurry to replace it.

Thank you very much for the review and the video is really interesting to me as you ALSO own the Iwata. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the explanation as I'm considering getting this airbrush ( I just started with a cheap compressor a couple of days ago and I'm not so impressed with the gun that came with the kit , but I can't justify to myself spending 400 quid to be plugged on a 80 quid compressor).

I'm confident that you will be content with the Fengda, I don't think it can really be beaten for the price.

Im looking to buy one, the very first one and have zero experience. So I guess this can be a good choice! You clearly know what you're talking about! Best whishes!😉👍

Very similar to the Harder - Steenbeck at the nozzle area, however the Hobby MIO-230 beats the cake 👍🏻.

Polishing the needle from the cheap airbrush helps a lot

I find G3 Finishing Compound for my car, it does a great job, it's a really fine abrasive compound almost identical to Tamiya Polishing Compound (except G3 is about £16 for 500ml instead of a tiny tube from Tamiya at the same price), you can put the needle in a cordless drill and use some G3 on a makeup sponge or a microfibre cloth and slowly spin the needle in the drill, gently moving up to the tip of the needle without bending the needle for a minute or so, perfect outcome, no abrasions and a completely smooth needle.

I’m of two minds on this. On one hand, I bought my Iwata HP-C in 1995 and it cost me dearly. I coulda used a cheaper model when I was poor and just starting out. On the other hand, I still use that same Iwata HP-C today, so it’s lasted 35 years and I doubt an entry-level model would have. (All the had were Aztec cheapos in those days)

Jen...what sort of lube did the trick on the Air-Brush? I'm so curious to know... I do use drops of Liquid Paraffin for various other tools. And...thank you for a good review done.

I used a combination of Iwata airbrush lube (super lube) and WD40. The Iwata stuff is quite expensive, I shall do some research and find a cheaper alternative to recommend.

I am on a budget and have only been airbrushing for a couple of years i had the cheap iwata neo and the bartsharp and i cant stop wrecking the o ring so i bought a procon boy at about £120.00 and its been working well . I could now do with a second to run along side , question is do i get another procon boy or this one my budget is £100/£160 decisions , decisions thanks for the review Jen . Regards Gav.

Help, please. I need to get a side-load airbrush and Fengda BD-134 was recommended. Have not found it yet, but have found Fengda AG-134K which looks very similar. Does anyone know how these are different; what BD, AG, and K stands for?..

@@JenesisDesignsandModelcraft Yes, they just responded... They only sell to USA through amazon, so I asked for the BD-134 and they sent a link to the AG-134K, ha, so I guess it's the same... No info on what the names mean, so going with the AG one. Thanks :)

Hi! I bought this exact model and unfortunately my experience was not good. I think that I had bad luck, because mine looked like it was already used. The nozzle was sticky out of the box, as if someone used it and didn't clean it properly. I was never able to spray only air even with the trigger full forward. I dissembled and re-assembled it to put the needle in the correct position full forward but the situation was still the same, no way to spray just air, it always will come out with a little bit of ink (first test with ink). in plus, when I wanted to unscrew the nozzle holder it was very difficult, it was too tight, and when I managed to unscrew it I realized that it was that tight because during the assembly in the factory the oring was not fully placed on the base of the thread, it was on the screw, so it was cut when the nozzle holder was screwed into the airbrush body. I need a new airbrush and I am doubting if giving a second chance to this one or not. greetings!

I am sorry to hear that Juan. Perhaps this is a pitfall of cheaper items that we can forget about easily, especially if the one we get happens to work properly. The problem you describe with always having some colour when you only want air is usually caused by the needle not being fully home in the nozzle, or nozzle damage. I hope if nothing else that you can get your money back for your purchase.

Nice review and have ordered one. Just for interest, what type of lubricant did you use, too free the airbrush up. Keep up the good work 👍

Also noted that you wound back the rear housing to stop the restrictive movement. I have another airbrush, very similar that does the same. Will have a look at that one 👍

Well that's sold me. I fully appreciate a good airbrush but never want to spend stupid money on one. I think this is a superb compromise with a budget in mind and an iwata copy is exactly what I was after in the first place so I'll be finding a few bob to get one of these I think.

Always thought that a newcomer in airbrushing may be fooled to think that a moltitude of components - see exploded diagram view - is a sign of a high tech product, while indeed the opposite is true. Lots of O-rings in these cases underlines poor fittings which would require sealing in order to not leak air everywhere. It may be also true that several, if not all of the components are third-party produced, quality control routines are simply not existent. That pretty much explains why this piece costs 30 €/$/GBP. That said, it is totally legitimate to buy one and taste the feeling, without compromising too much the integrity of your wallet if things go wrong 🙂

how do you avoid breaking the nozzle? its so damn fragile

There's always one......

My experience with one of these is very disappointing The trigger is horrible and for some reason I find it very uncomfortable to use unlike my other two 🤷‍♂️

That's unfortunate. At least it wasn't a massively expensive mistake. That's the issue I have with the H&S Infinity series - they are perfectly competent airbrushes, but I just don't find them comfortable to use...
