Hi, thanks for this! My Iwata has almost packed up after nearly 20 years so was looking for its replacement. Saw the Fengada on Amazon & wanted to see it in action first. Obviously cheaper than an Iwata would ever be, but it looks very similar & as I don’t airbrush too often I think I’ll give this one a go now🤗 Nice review, cheers 👍

I've just got one due to this review. I'd been looking for a new compressor for a while and wasn't sure what to look for. Just gave it a quick psi test and found my old one wasn't even running at 15psi. The difference is very noticeable between the two and should make airbrushing so much easier.

I have what looks exactly the same as yours... just a different model number. Mine is 189. I had another of the exact same model that, because of fear of airbrushing that got very little use over the 12 month period I had it. I treated it well ie emptied the tank after every use. A few weeks ago I stopped prevaricating and started to use it. However, I found that, sometimes, it wouldn't stop filling the tank. I would then turn it off, expel some air and turn it back on. It would then be okay. I then noticed rust in the water trap. Luckily, the guy I bought it from replaced it without quibble. I turned on the new one and, lo and behold, the bloody thing had the same problem with not turning off when full. It overheated and I was giving up the ghost. I gave it a half hour and tried it again and... it's been fine since. Your review came out and I saw you expelling air from the tank via a release valve on the side. I used to do it via the water trap release valve. Could this have been the cause of my problems with the the first compressor.

bought this 2yrs ago as my first compressor, fantastic ! only hint, on the bottom of the tank is a drain plug, once a month empty tank, remove plug and allow moisture to drain, coat plug thread in auto brake grease before refitting, if leaving for extended period do a drain session before starting, I ALSO gave ite tank a liberal spray inside of WD40 to protect against moisture created rust or corrosion.

I picked mine up in early January. It's been used 5 days a week every day since. It's superb, and the only gripe is with prolonged use (like spraying a big fuselage in one hit), it builds a lot of heat and air pressure can drop off. With sensible use though, it's fantastic for achieving a great result without spending a fortune. I paired it with the cheapo £23 airbrush, and that little thing has been a gem to use so far.

Nice little compressor from a company in The NL. They have two brand names, Fengda and Airgoo (you can see the airgoo paper with the help-line phone numbers you pulled from the box when you opened it). Fengda compressors are being phased out by the Airgoo AG-326, which has same price, similar specs, better cooling with dual fans. Local stores stopped getting the FD-186, FD-189, AS-186, AS-189 because the new AG models don’t overheat that much.

I got he same compressor and it works always like it shoult be working. Longer AB session will heat up the compressor a bit. Like Trailers on 1-24 scale. I live in spain, and in the summer i use a cheap click on fan to cool it down a bit. Make good use of the waterfilter and after you stop, take out the plug on the bottom. Then the moist cannot provoke rust on the inside. Using it now for more than 2 years and it was every penny. Bought it then to don,t break the bank starting airbrushing. Leveled up the airbrush in that time. But still use the one who ncame with the kit and a fengda with the self centering nozzele. Good workhorses and when you clean then good they will last. I hope yours will last as long a mine.

Hi! Nice video there. I still have a question, I dont quite get how you set the working pressure without affecting the already setted max pressure, with only one pressure adjuster that locks in. What I understand is that you can set the max pressure to be for example 3,2bar and this will be the pressure the compressor tries to reach all the time. But then you can also set a working pressure, for example 1,8bar. This is the interesting part for me and many users I guess, so that the compressor is not working all the time. I asume that the pressure drops with use until it gets to 1,8bar, moment in which it builds uip again until it reaches 3,2bar again. My question is how do you set those separatelly? Sorry for the long text. Thanks in advance!

Great video thank you. When I'm spraying the pressure doesn't last very long (5 minutes) then I have to wait till it builds pressure again? My is FD-189 with two portions switch 1 automatic at 3 bar and 2 at 6 bar auto cut off . I'm spraying doll parts but can only manage 2 or 3 parts at a time. According to the owners manual it says use setting 1 at 3-4 bar. In your video I noticed to let it build up first and after cutting out at 4 bar you adjusted the pressure down to 15-20 psi how long should that tank full last? And can I continue to use while it builds up again? Thank you so much Markus

Hi! I just purchased the FD-189 newer model. Your video title can easily be adjusted for FD-186 AND FD-189... with the exception of the ON/OFF switch. It's a three way swith with position one (for airbrush use), the OFF position, and position two. Position two is used for airbrushes or whatever that need 6 bar (239 lb/psi) . It's my opinion that you'll reach more viewers this way if you change the title of your video and maybe add a voice over what concerns the switch difference. Other than that, nice video. P.S. The instructions with the FD-189 already explain the switch difference. But maybe that wouldn't be explained by the sellers or other videos on KZread... I haven't run into any yet. P.S.S. If your viewers don't need that extra 6 bar, than your model is more than adequate.

So as a complete newbie to this, are you able to explain why you reduce the auto cut-off down to 2bar from the 4bar?

Yes pull the black tap up and then turn it to desire pressure then push it down to set it

@@MOS6510Models thanks for the reply, I meant why do you do it rather than how. Your video was great at showing how it all worked I just wasnt sure why you did it. Was it because the air pressure at 4 bar was too high?

a lot of what brand they are is bullshit ,, most stuff like that the budget items are exactly the same as the most expensive lines and come from the same factory ,, i once worked building , machining , engineering , inspecting rotary vane compressors ,, at that time i was in the market for a new chainsaw ,, went to B&Q and compared a husqvarna to the store budget model both were clearly the identicle chain saw from the same production line but moulded and painted in different colours ............. same as a few years ago no matter which computer scanner you bought all had the same internals made by agfa

@@CFster Sparmax TC-610H are made in Taiwan. I do not know where their cheaper models are made. The do have the same design as all the other compressors in the low end range.

@@garfieldsmith332 ever look at one with the cover off? The motor/compressor and tank are identical to the inexpensive units. Some hole placement in the tank and vent holes for the electric motor. Most of these 186 style compressors are configured slightly different - power switch, pop off valve, pressure switch in different locations but they’re all mounted on a unit that comes out of China. Companies like Sparmax import them, paint them, and put their own parts on them. On another note, I have one very similar to the unit reviewed here but the power switch is in the front. Makes no sense to put it in the rear.
