Great! I bought the small set of 10 Neocolor II's yesterday and instantly fell in love with them. Went looking for videos using them and found this. Great ideas for combining with pencils.

Hi Tina, glad you decided to give this technique a try. If you haven't done it already, I suggest that you visit my blog where I shared a few more tips that I might not be able to convey via the video. Here's the link: colorart.ca/amazing-backgrounds-with-neocolorii/ The most important thing is the dampness of the brush, and do not oversaturate by going over the same area again and again. Wait till it dries before you attempt to add more color. Lastly, colored pencils can always fix any imperfection or enhance the colors. Good luck!

Will polychromos also work on top of the neocolor 2? My prismacolor set has limited colors.

how well do the neocolors hold up in these types of coloring book? (mainly hanna karlzon & maria trolle books) ive just discovered these neocolors and im suer interested but they have a pretty steep price tag..maybe this holiday season ill treat myself! but dont want to get them if they are going to bleed through the pages and ruin the images on the other side of the paper

Thank you for sharing your process with Neocolor 2. Your bejeweled golden owl is so beautiful! I appreciate how you show other media that work well with the neocolor. I couldn't get my sakura white to work on top of neocolor. How did you manage it? Were you doing something off camera with the gellyroll pen when applying the circles? I would love to know what worked for you. I have used the neocolours with Caran D'Ache Watercolour Pencils. They work and layer nicely. Please let me know if you have other videos mixing media with these neocolours. I wish you happy painting!

Hi Rhue, I am so glad you find my video helpful. As for the problem with white pens, they don't behave all the time. I haven't done anything off camera in this case but I know they don't always work as expected. When I have issues with ink flow, I draw circles on a plain piece of paper to make sure it is working. I also find the thicker pens work a lot better and less likely to dry up. In my quest for the better white pens I also tried Uniball (the Japanese version works much better, make sure there's Japanese words on the pen), posca also works pretty good, I even tried calligraphy white ink. The struggle to find the perfect white pen is real 🤣

It's so nice to see your beautiful and vibrant colour work with Neocolor 2. I am transitioning from traditional pastel, trying to find something comparable but without the dust. I love layering and mixed media. Looking forward to exploring your videos.
