"i don't have the words.
This year has cruelly taken so many fine people way too young.
And George?
That gentle boy?
All that beautiful talent?
Can't begin to compute this.
RIP George.
Sing with Freddie. And the Angels."
Brian May
Taken from The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert for AIDS Awareness that took place at Wembley Stadium on Easter Monday, 20th April 1992. The concert was a tribute to the life of the late Queen frontman, Freddie Mercury, with all proceeds going to AIDS research. ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT GEORGE MICHAEL (RIP) WAS THE 1 AND ONLY CLOSET TO FREDDIE (RIP) AND STILL PUT A LITTLE OF HIS OWN INCREDIBLE TALENT TO RESPECTFULLY FRONT QUEEN AFTER FREDDIE PASSED. GREATEST TRIBUTE IMO OF THIS INCREDIBLE RELIGIOUS TRIBUTE TO AN INCREDIBLE ARTIST. PEACE, Tom 🍀✌

Nobody in this tribute to Freddie (Queen) came close to this Magnificent performance by George. Let it be known ( look it up online) that George practiced w Queen for 3 weeks, in order to get perfection❣️ that’s dedication to your friend and his body of work AND pride to deliver the best tribute possible by George. Who would have thought we’d be here today without both these AMAZING ARTISTS 😞😞💓

He really deserves a tribute concert but who should sing? Imagine the both tributes on by Adele and the one with Chris Martin? Both were horrible for me, not brilliant enough to celebrate George Michael's music career. The truth is no one is really to able sing a tribute song. When you look at this concert who was all on stage? The Queen members, David Bowie, Elton John, Axl Rose, Annie Lennox, Lisa Stansfield, Seal.....stars with a special caliber. Stars like them are really rare.

There's something so poetic about this performance. It's obvious that George lit up the arena that night, just as Freddie did in that same place, seven years earlier. They couldn't have held this concert anywhere else. And now they're both gone. We had legends among us, for a little while.

In reality, George Michael sings better since by not distorting his voice he makes it sound more powerful and voluminous, something that Freddy does not because he distorted so much and tightened the strings so much that he could not give up.

He didn't do a whole recital with that hoarse voice, while George Michael could sing all the songs and finish with the same voice.

+sunpreet sandhu true, and Freddie paled the piano and really marched around the stage. I look at this for what it was....a truly magnificent tribute to honor the king who wrote and sang it better than no other...and I think George really did Freddie Proud. I just re-watched Freddie sing it in Queen-Rocks Montreal and watched it in awe...Freddie was amazing...power, stage presence and the voice like NO-other...But George...doing this song as you did, put you in a new league (in my humble opinion) after all is said and done, I watch this video over and over and smile. George should be proud!

Something so sad about these beautiful, freakin' talented gay men being taken from us too early. George is (was) a goddamn amazing singer…powerful voice…showman on stage…the band was incredible…the crowd at the stadium…clapping and singing in unison…what a fucking incredible performance by these guys…did they do a better version of this live even with Freddie??? Freddie & George are now singing together this song in heaven. RIP George
He did Freddie such an honor with this ❤
Just watched this again after not seeing it for many years. Forget what a powerful voice George Michael had. 100% the right person to sing this tribute to Freddie. Made me tear up remembering they're both gone now.
I loved the 90's. All this thousands of people really enjoy the show without a dam smartphone in their hands.

Yeah, it's kinda like they're just there to record it to watch later on, instead of getting into the actual performance then and there.
Keep asking myself, why wasn't he more appreciated when he was alive?! Great voice!

George was a big fan of Queen !!
No one could have replaced Freddie but if it had to happen, George was IT. I hope they're both having fun up there.
Rest in peace, George. Say hi to Freddie for us.

Marko Krieger goosebumps for sure. It’s like he was channeling Freddie and mixing that with his own amazing talent.
Brian May was so damn happy with the performance If ever there was a performance deserving of a mic drop, this is it. Farewell, George Michael.
Great cover , he did not imitate Freddie. He just sang it with his own style. Beautiful version. Brian May is so pleasured with the performance as well !
One of the best live performances ever!

RIP George we lost him on Christmas Day 🙏😇 his sister also died on Christmas Day three years later 😇🙏💙
One of his bests. He paid tribute to freddie like nooneslse
the one and only true man who can sing queen song
Between Queen, The Choir, and George Michaels, this is one of the finest performances I've witnessed in a rock setting. The entire performance is on another level completely. Beyond words.
Impeccably ageless and immortal!
I was never a big fun of George Michael but OMG he was the best on this concert! With all my huge love to the other artists, but HIS voice, his look, oh, I'm chocked! He looks incredible! This is amasing!!!

@@dianeatkinson2015, you have to remember that Wham! and the songs George wrote during that era, was when he was a teenager. It appealed to teenagers, but nevertheless were catchy pop tunes with excellent song writing. I’m sorry you did not give him a chance until you saw this performance, because what George accomplished as a solo artist puts him at the very top of the heap. He won numerous songwriting awards throughout his career and was praised by Elton, Stevie, Paul McCartney, Aretha Franklin, the works. He has absolutely amazing music in his catalogue. A unique thing about George, is he could write pop, soul/R&B, jazz, and his voice suited all of those genres. Just start looking into all of the duets he did because they are utterly phenomenal.
One of the best tribute covers ever......
George really did Freddy justice with this version. Very sad day.
Ok, now seriously: where is the tribute to the great George Michael?!? He deserves one!

Jesus Christ! What a voice and performance! This song is veeeeeeeery fucking hard to sing and George did it as if he had sang it for years! This is a great voice and artist! Just as Freddie was! Two thumbs up!

The smile of Brian May... Satisfaction for George Michael's performance😍😍😍
George had his own band, entertainers, orchestra and choir. He was a true master of music. He will go down as one of the legends of musical history.

@@mamaluchii Well, it would be in every person's gallery (person at the concert of course). Plus I think that, for the artist, it's not the same feeling between seeing everyone recording and everyone clapping their hands, especially in a place like Wembley. I mean, I see no problem if some people do this, but the problem is that everyone does it... And; from my point of view, I prefer official videos like this rather than a smartphone video.

How about a TRIBUTE TO GEORGE MICHAEL
My god he was fucking glorious! Was blown away during the live show, still blown away now.
George Michael's performance is a real salute to one of the greatest. George Michael had also a fantastic presence on stage like Freddie Mercury. We will miss this kind of artists sadly
I don’t know who could do a tribute to George because he was a great passionate singer hard to duplicate, I miss him so much
To see the smile on Brian's face at 4:03 was so sweet. Then to see him applaud at the end was also a lovely moment which I'll admit brings tears to the eyes. This is such a powerful performance that the emotions it stirs up are amazing. There are tears but they're a mixture of happy and sad.
